The semi-custom SportRack Frontier roof rack easily installs on your vehicle's bare roof so you can carry extra cargo to your next destination. Adjustable, rotating footpads combine with an easy-to-use numbering system to make the rack conform to your roof for a good fit.

Sport Rack numbering system on load bar

A unique numbering system is inscribed on the crossbars to aid in installation. This system corresponds to numbers noted in the easy-to-read application guide. First, find the number indicated for your vehicle, and then slide the roof-rack feet along the crossbars until they line up with the appropriate number for your application. Tighten the feet in place with the included Allen wrench.

Refer to the application guide to find specific measurements that allow you to properly position the rack on your roof. To begin installing the roof rack on your vehicle, open the passenger's- and driver's-side doors. Place the front crossbar first, and make sure that the screws that hold the clamps in the roof-rack feet are loose before positioning the feet on your vehicle.

Sport Rack roof rack foot and pad

Before attaching the clamps to the door jambs of your vehicle and tightening them down, you need to make sure that the feet and pads are oriented correctly. The bottom of each foot can be rotated to better fit the slope of your roof. Make sure that the feet are sitting flush against the roof.

Once the feet are properly positioned, attach the clamps to the door jambs and tighten via the screws in the feet. After the front crossbar is positioned, review the instructions for the measurements needed to place the rear crossbar and repeat the same process for that crossbar.

Sport Rack roof rack lock cover

Once everything is tightened down, place the locking covers over the feet to deter theft of the rack.

Ask the Experts about this Roof Rack

  • Single Roof Rack Bar for a 1994 Toyota Pickup Truck
  • Most roof racks are sold in pairs but there are some options. You could get a Yakima bar using the following parts: Q16 Q Clips for Yakima Q Towers (QTY 2), # Y00616 Q Towers, # Y00135 Crossbar, # Y8810021 These parts will give you one bar and the parts to mount it. The other option is to use a universal type of bar, Darby # DTA968. The most secure option, though, would be to go with the Yakima set up.
