Electronic controller activates electric trailer brakes with a preset intensity when you apply the brakes in your vehicle. Digital display is simple to read. Power output and braking aggressiveness are easily adjustable. Includes manual override.
Features:
Specs:
The Activator II applies your trailer's brakes when the brake pedal in your tow vehicle is engaged. Every time you apply the brakes in your vehicle, a signal is sent - via the brake switch - to the Activator. The controller then sends power out to your trailer brakes to activate them with an intensity set by you, at a rate determined by you. Both the amount of braking power (output) and rate of application (sync) can be adjusted to suit your preference, the road conditions, type of trailer and size of the load. To determine which levels are best for your application, you must test out your towing setup and choose what feels best.
A time-delay controller is so named because there is a delay between the time that you initially apply the brakes in your tow vehicle and the time that the controller reaches maximum power output. Unlike a proportional brake controller, which activates your trailer's brakes based on the deceleration of your tow vehicle, the Activator sends power out in the same way, with the same gradual delay, no matter the braking situation. Although this delay always exists, it can be adjusted by changing the sync setting.
Sync Settings
To adjust the aggressiveness of your trailer's braking action, use the slide control on the side of the Activator II to change the sync setting. If you want to reach maximum power output faster, move the switch forward. To get smoother braking action, move the switch backward, thus supplying power to the trailer brakes more gradually. You can alter the sync setting to suit your driving preferences or to improve handling based on changing road conditions or varied trailer loads.
Quick, Simple Installation
Because inertia plays no role in the functioning of this controller, you do not have to mount the unit at any particular angle. As a result, mounting options are limitless, so long as you can still easily access the controller.
Installation of the Activator II requires that you either purchase a custom wiring adapter designed to plug into the controller or that you hardwire the controller directly into your vehicle. To hardwire the Activator, you must remove the plug at the end of the integrated wiring harness.
Installation Accessories
For easier installation, a vehicle-specific wiring adapter is available for most newer trucks and SUVs. One end of the custom adapter plugs into your vehicle, and the other end plugs into the controller - no hardwiring required.
Note: If a custom brake-control wiring adapter is not available for your vehicle, one of the following will be required:
20-Amp circuit breaker (9506P - sold separately) for 2- to 4-brake applications
30-Amp circuit breaker (38630 - sold separately) for 6- to 8-brake applications
See also etrailer.com's exclusive 7- and 4-way brake-control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately) if you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle.

Install your electric brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in harness beneath your vehicle's dash.
Features:
For most applications, the factory plug is located beneath the dash, near the center console. If you have a Ford full-size van, the harness is underneath and to the left of the steering column. The Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer have 6-pin connectors behind the glove box on the passenger's side. On a 2013 Ford Explorer, the connection point could be behind the driver's side kick panel.
To install your electric brake controller you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein these wires are run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. Often, a brake controller wiring harness is included with your tow package. This harness plugs into a port beneath your dash and connects to the four wires of the brake controller. If, however, you have a brake controller with a plug in place of the four loose wires, you can use the Tekonsha adapter.
This adapter requires no hardwiring. It is designed to plug directly into your electric brake controller for the simplest installation possible. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time and securely stow it away.
Video of Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2011 Ford Expedition
Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer
installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Today on this 2011 Ford Expedition we are going to be installing the Prodigy P2 brake control kit, part number 90885-3035P. Starting off inside the cab of the Expedition, and the first thing we want to do is locate the brake control port that we are going to be plugging our wiring harness into. And this port is located on the driver side of the vehicle, just below the steering column is this grey open ended plug right here. So with the port located, we can go ahead and take our wiring harness. Go ahead and plug it in. With the harness plugged in, we will want to next determine where we want to mount our brake controller. We want to mount it in a position where it can be easily accessed by the hand of the driver but also does not interfere with normal driving conditions. On this particular vehicle, over here on the right side of the steering wheel, if I follow below right about even with where our port is, the underside of the dash here has a small lip. I believe it is just wide enough for us to actually us as a mounting point. And I am going to be using the more traditional bracket that comes with the Prodigy P2 controller. We can mount it in position just like so. You do want to make sure when you are mounting the brake control bracket that it is mounted in a straight line with the braking of the vehicle. 1:31
With the mounting bracket up, we will go ahead and mount the P2 next. And then finally, we just need to take the other end of our wiring harness and plug it into the back side of our brake controller. And you can see instantly, we get an NC flashing on the screen which indicates that we do not currently have a trailer hooked up to the tow vehicle. And then it stops flashing and goes straight to two dots. And then you can see once we plug into our trailer, the brake controller goes to a C. And from there, once we hit our brake pedal we get our digital read out like we are looking for. And that is all there is to the installation. It might be a good idea to go ahead and tie up the loose wires we have here on the back side. But with that our installation will be complete. That will conclude the installation of the Prodigy P2 brake controller, part number 90885-3035P.

This hand break is exactly what I was looking for. I had one on an old truck that I had sold and wanted to put one in one of my newer trucks. I kind of knew what to expect - what I didn't expect was the exceptional customer service I received from etrailer. I placed my order and the people at etrailer kept me informed on every step of the delivery process up to and including delivery (even what door it was delivered to at my house) Now that's what I call service!! Will definitely use etrailer again!! Thank you31219

Product is simple and strait forward to install. Controls are simple and doesn't take a lot of messing around with to get the hang of. My only gripe is that I wish instead of having self tapping screws to mount to the car, it came with bolts/nuts. That way you don't have a pointy screw protruding out the back of a panel and possibly running through what's behind the panel or rubbing on other wires.78265

Great brake controller. Bought the adapter plug and had it installed and ready to go in the truck in less than 30 mins. Easy to set and adjust. Customer service was great. Needed it shipped to me fast. Called and the lady in customer service made sure it was shipped that day and arrived to me in 2 days. She sent me emails making sure I knew when it shipped. Great company to deal with. Would definitely order from them again. 76020

Installing this into my 2005 Tahoe was a breeze. If you just follow the directions and check out etrailers videos you should have no problem. I went from a small popup to a bigger hybrid so I had to get the EBC system. This sure beats taking it to the RV or Dealer store and paying retail plus labor. Thanks etrailer.com 53924

If you desire a simplistic brake controller with no frills, this is it. It is a good value for the money. The installation instructions are very limited, would not recommend this to be installed by someone needing a lot of instruction help.44619

Love the digital display! Digital display is now a requirement when I order a brake controller. It is amazing how much better brake control I have knowing before hand how much brake will be applied.2017
