Video Transcript for Yakima RailGrab Roof Rack Installation - 2014 Ford Escape

Today, in our 2014 Ford Escape, we'll be testing the Yakima RailGrab Towers with 48-inch round bars, using part number Y00408 and Y00138. With our rack assembled according to the manufacturer's instruction, we'll grab our front half and place it onto our side rails. We'll want to find a fixed point. In our case, we're going to use the point in which the side rail meets the foot of the side rail. There's a line here. From this, we'll measure back 7 inches. We'll do this measurement on both sides to be sure we have our feet in line with each other. With our feet in line, we'll open the cover located on the foot and tighten the black Allen Bolt located inside with our Allen Key. We'll now move over to the other side, double-check our measurement and repeat the same tightening process. With the front half of our rack secure, I will now grab the rear half, place it onto our side rails. This time, we're going to measure from the center of our front bar to the center of our rear bar.

We can have these up to 32 inches apart. For our application today, we're going to set them at about 28 inches. We'll do this measurement on both sides to be sure we have our feet in line with each other and our bars parallel. With our measurements made on both sides, we'll now repeat the same tightening process here at the rear that we used on the front. And just like that, our rack's secure and we're ready to go. That will complete today's test for the Yakima RailGrab Towers, using part number Y00408 and Y00138 on our 2014 Ford Escape. .

  • Will 50 Inch Thule Load Bars Fit Instead of 58 Inch Yakima Cross Bars for 2010 Toyota Prius
  • I used our Fit Guide to determine which cross bars will work for your 2010 Toyota Prius. I found that the 50 inch Thule Loadbars, part # THLB50, will fit your 2010 Toyota Prius, if you do not have a glass roof. If there is a glass roof, you will need to go with the 58 inch Yakima Crossbars. Also, the 48 inch Yakima Crossbars, part # Y00408, will not fit your 2010 Toyota Prius. If your vehicle does not have the glass roof, and you decide to use the Thule Loadbars, part # THLB50, you will need

  • Suitcase Mounting Options on a 2009 Ford Taurus X sel with Roof Rack
  • There are many different ways to attach your suitcase to the roof rack on your 2009 Ford Taurus X sel, but you will have to have crossbars that run perpendicular to the side rails. If you do not have crossbars, then I recommend getting the Yakima RailGrab Roof Rack. This roof rack uses the RailGrab Towers, # Y00138, that attach to the side rails on your roof and hold the round crossbars, # Y00409. This is also our most economical roof rack system designed for your vehicle. I have attached an

This will provide you with two crossbars to mount your kayak or kayak carrier to. I have attached a link to all of the roof rack options that will fit your vehicle for you to check out. • Can a 2008 Honda Odyssey Carry a Kayak and a Canoe at the Same Time
  • The ability to carry a canoe and a kayak on the roof of a 2008 Honda Odyssey is going to depend on two factors. It will depend on the weight capacity of the roof and the size of the canoe and kayak. Most aftermarket roof racks, like the Yakima Q Tower or RailGrab Roof Racks for the Honda Odyssey have a weight capacity ranging from 150 lbs to 165 lbs, however the weight capacity of the vehicle roof is typically lower. I recommend checking your owners manual to verify the actual weight capacit

The first roof rack system I would recommend would be the Thule Square Load Bar System # THLB50. These square bars can hold just about any roof top accessory on the market and are made in the USA, and are constructed of galvanized steel.
