  • Will 50 Inch Thule Load Bars Fit Instead of 58 Inch Yakima Cross Bars for 2010 Toyota Prius
  • I used our Fit Guide to determine which cross bars will work for your 2010 Toyota Prius. I found that the 50 inch Thule Loadbars, part # THLB50, will fit your 2010 Toyota Prius, if you do not have a glass roof. If there is a glass roof, you will need to go with the 58 inch Yakima Crossbars. Also, the 48 inch Yakima Crossbars, part # Y00408, will not fit your 2010 Toyota Prius. If your vehicle does not have the glass roof, and you decide to use the Thule Loadbars, part # THLB50, you will need

  • Suitcase Mounting Options on a 2009 Ford Taurus X sel with Roof Rack
  • There are many different ways to attach your suitcase to the roof rack on your 2009 Ford Taurus X sel, but you will have to have crossbars that run perpendicular to the side rails. If you do not have crossbars, then I recommend getting the Yakima RailGrab Roof Rack. This roof rack uses the RailGrab Towers, # Y00138, that attach to the side rails on your roof and hold the round crossbars, # Y00409. This is also our most economical roof rack system designed for your vehicle. I have attached an

  • How Much of a Roof Rack Crossbar is Covered Up by the Yakima RailGrabs
  • I went out to the warehouse and pulled some Yakima RailGrabs, # Y00138, to measure the area that covers the crossbars for you. I got a measurement of 4-1/2 inches where the bar will be covered by the RailGrab and either end for a total of 8-1/2 inches. If your intended application cannot straddle the RailGrabs, longer bars would not help because the space between the 2 RailGrabs will not change, just the amount that is coming out the other end away from the vehicle.

  • Yakima Rail Grab Towers Recommendation for a 2001 Chevy Suburban
  • The Yakima RailGrab Towers # Y00138 that you referenced would be the correct system for attaching a roof rack on your 2001 Chevy Suburban if it does not have cross bars that run from one side of the roof to the other. If you got a Yakima Round Bar # Y00408 along with the # Y00138 you would have a complete roof rack system for your vehicle if it has raised side rails that run from front to back. If your vehicle has cross bars already you would not necessarily need towers. I attached inst

You will need to use the small claws for installation on the side rails. If the small claws are currently on the towers, then that would explain why they are not making good contact with your side rails. I recommend using the medium claws to see how they fit.
