Expert Answers about Wesbar

  • Wesbar Wraparound Taillight Recommendation for a Trailer
  • Since you said you need the housing, the lens and the light module it sounds like you really need to just replace the entire light assembly. We currently carry only the LED version of the Wesbar Wraparound light that you sent us a picture of. For the LED replacement you would want part # 271595. Since you probably would rather have both sides of your trailer tail lights matching the matching other side light assembly would be part # 27194. I wish we still sold the incandescent version...

  • Is Quick Connect Available On Submersible Low Profile Trailer Lights
  • We have an option for submersible low profile light that may work for you. None of the lights we offer have the 3 prong adapter similar to the connector you show in the photo you sent. The low profile light I recommend is part # 763560. The light capsule on this is sealed and the bulb cannot be changed.

  • How Does Wesbar Clearance Light LED Amber with Reflex Ground to a Trailer
  • You will just need to ground the external white ground wire on light # 47-222012. If you do not have the matching connector for the one on the light you can cut it off and attach a ring terminal.

  • Availability of Bulb and Socket Taillight Kit for Flat Towed Vehicle
  • It sounds like you're speaking of a bulb and socket kit like part # RM-155 from Roadmaster. Installation involves drilling a 1 inch diameter hole into the backside of your taillight assemblies and inserting another bulb. A wiring harness would run under the vehicle to the front, where the harness ends in a 4-pole connector to plug into the trailer connector on the tow vehicle. Keep in mind, not every vehicle will have enough room in the taillight assembly to allow for an additional bulb....

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lights That All Go Off When Brake Pedal Is Pressed
  • The problem you are having with your trailer lights sounds like a ground wire problem. The first thing I would check is the wires. Look for any place you have a loose ground or if there is corrosion or dirt present that would not give you sufficient ground. If you have a tilting trailer bed or tongue you will need to run a jumper wire from the tongue to the trailer bed to make sure you have a solid ground. The next thing I would suggest to check is the harness you are using. You will...

  • Are Wesbar Trailer Tail Lights 403026 and 403076 Waterproof
  • A light that is waterproof is sealed. The bulb inside Wesbar light # 403026 is actually # 763560. This is a watertight capsule so water cannot get in. The limiting factor will be the wiring. When connections are made you will need to use heat shrink tubing such as # DW05744-10 to keep water out. Lights that are submersible have openings that water can drain out of. Any light that indicates it is sealed would also not be a problem for marine environments. The Wesbar lights you have...

  • Troubleshooting Why Trailer Lights Go Out When You Hit the Brakes
  • It sounds to me like you may have a ground problem. There are several places to look for a poor ground connection. I recommend starting with the trailer connector on the trailer. Check to make sure that the ground wire is secured to a clean metal surface on the trailer. In addition, each lamp/signal will also need to be grounded. Typically the lamp/signal is grounded through the mounting bolts having direct contact with the trailer frame. If the area that the lights are mounted to...

  • Square Trailer Tail Lights with a Plug Connector for a Shorelander Trailer
  • All of the similar trailer tail lights like # 2423056 either have blunt cut wires or you just insert the wiring to the backs of the lights. None have a plug. What you could do is use light # 2423056 (and # 2423006 for the left side) and splice the plug from your old lights to them. You would need to make sure the connection is water tight by using some heat shrink tubing such as # DW05744-5.

  • 7-Way Plug and Lead Recommendation for a Trailer
  • The Coiled Adapter # 787196 has 5 wires that run through it. A ground wire, a running light wire, a left stop/turn wire, a right stop/turn wire, and an auxiliary wire usually run to the reverse light circuit of a vehicle. For what you are doing you would be better off using a 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector # H20046 since it has all 7 circuits and the brake output circuit wire has 12 gauge wire instead of the 16 gauge wire of the # 78716 which would not be sufficient.

  • Troubleshooting Malfunctioning Wesbar LED Trailer Lamps on EZ Loader Boat Trailer
  • Are any of the functions of the lamps working at all, or are they completely dead? As a first step, I'd remove the lamps from the trailer, and use a 12 volt battery to apply power directly to the leads on the back of the lamp. Ground the white lead to the negative post of the battery, and apply power to the pin and socket for the red and black wire. If the lamps work in this manner, there's a wiring problem on the trailer that needs to be tracked down and repaired. If both lamps are...

  • Car Hauler trailer Wiring
  • For you to retain the functions of the electric brakes on your car hauler trailer you will need to use a connector that will carry the power for all of the functions from the vehicle. For what you are doing you would be better off using a 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector # H20046 since it has all 7 circuits and the brake output circuit wire has 12 gauge wire. I have attached a video that shows how to replace the 7-pole connector you can check out.

  • The driver side trailer tail light # 271575 has an additional function, the license plate light. So it and the right side, # 271574, are not the same. I have included a picture that shows the license plate light at the bottom of the driver side light.

  • Recommended Replacement 4-Way Connector For 1960 Trailer
  • We do offer flat 4-way trailer connectors. I recommend the Wesbar 4-Pole Flat Connector w/ Jacketed Cable, part # W787264. You would need to cut the connector off of your trailer and test the wires on the trailer for function using a 12-volt power source and a circuit tester like part # 3808. I recommend using a junction box like part # 38656, to protect the wiring. For ring terminals I recommend part # DW05702-1 for 14-16 gauge wires and part # 44-5310A for 10-12 gauge wires. I...

  • What is the Wire Gauge Used in the Coiled Adapter - 7-Way Flat Pin Blade to 5-Flat # 787196
  • A coiled cable would have to be a bit thinner in order to efficiently coil and also not be bulky and heavy. But the outer cable is not as important as the wires on the inside. In this adapter, # 787196, the wires are 16 gauge. This is very common for trailer wiring accessories. Wesbar does make a good product so I think you will like this adapter.

  • Towing a Motorcycle Trailer with 4-Way Square Connector with RAV4 with 4-Way Flat Connector
  • If you want to be able to tow the trailer with the RAV4 and with the motorcycle you are going to have to wire in a second connector on the trailer to match the 4-Way flat on the RAV4. The issue is that trailers designed to tow with motorcycles will likely have turn signals separate from the brake lights. The 4-Way flat on your RAV4 has combined turn signals and brake lights. This will require a special converter, # 118158, to maintain the separate circuits on the trailer. First,...
