  • Where to Find Trailer Model, VIN Number and Weight Capacity Information
  • Thank you for the photo of your Holland and England brand trailer. Usually the trailer manufacturer's name, model number, weight capacity and vehicle identification number (VIN) will be on the same placard or plate. This plate is often mounted on a frame rail or other accessible point near the trailer's tongue. Other times it may be placed near or on one of the axles. There is no absolute rule as to where this information will be located so you'll need to inspect the trailer frame...

  • Heavy Duty Winch Recommendation for Lowering a Boat and Trailer Down a Boat Ramp
  • To save your back I would go with an electric winch. Without knowing the incline percentage of your boat ramp and the weight of your boat it's hard to say exactly what would be the capacity you would need. Based on your previous winch having a 3,200 lb capacity I would recommend you go with the Superwinch AC3000 AC Powered Winch # 1730000 since it has a 3,000 lb capacity and is our highest rated winch. Now to determine what rating winch you will need check out the chart I attached. First...

  • Where Is Model Number Located On Trailer
  • Most trailers should have a sticker or a plate with model number and other information affixed to the frame near the front of the trailer, possibly on the underside. Many trailer manufacturers attach them in different areas so sometimes they are tough to locate. If you are unable to find the information you might be able to contact the manufacturer and they would be able to help.

  • Where to Look on a Trailer for It's VIN Number Information
  • Usually a trailer's VIN number will be found on the frame near the trailer tongue, on a plate or sticker that carries the manufacturer name and trailer model information. That plate or sticker may be positioned in an out of the way location to protect it from wear from regular use and road hazards. It should be a 19 character VIN.

  • Coupler Repair Kit For A Trailer With No Visible Make Or Model
  • Most of the couplers used on trailers have the make and model number stamped into the surface somewhere. If you are unable to find the make and model number, you may want to consider replacing the coupler on the trailer. Many of the couplers use components that are very similar looking but may vary in size because they are made for a specific couplers. It would be a hit or miss if you found a repair kit that would work for you. You can measure your trailer, and use those dimensions...

  • Compatibility of Shelby JC101 Caster Wheel with Haul Master 92626 Trailer Jack
  • The Shelby # JC101 Jack Caster is designed for use with a trailer jack whose inner tube has a 2 inch outside diameter. The caster has a 2000 lb capacity, so if the jack has a higher capacity, you'll be limited to the capacity of the caster. The caster is secured to the tube using the included snapper pin. If your Haul Master jack has an inner tube with a 2 inch outside diameter, with the cross-drilled hole at the bottom of the tube, the caster would be compatible with your jack.

  • Troubleshooting Coupler Repair Kit for a Trailer that Won't Allow Ball To Fully Seat After Install
  • A couple things could be happening here. It could be that you are trying to install the wrong coupler repair kit on your coupler as they are not all universal, or it could be that you have the wrong size hitch ball. Since I am not sure which coupler you have and which kit you may have gone with it's hard to say for sure what is going on.

  • How to Find a Trailer VIN on a Camping Trailer
  • Usually commercial trailer manufacturers will indicate the unique vehicle identification number (VIN) on the same plaque that carries their brand name, model number information and the trailer specifications. The model number of the trailer is not the same as the VIN number; the same model number may be used on multiple trailers but a VIN number is unique and individual to each one produced. If you cannot find the VIN on the trailer tongue you can check for plaques on other parts of...

  • Where on Trailer to Find VIN Information
  • If it's not located on the outside of the frame members that make up the trailer tongue, it might be on the inside of the frame members, so you might want to check there first. Then, examine the rest of the frame. I've also seen the information on the front of the trailer. If the trailer has a toolbox, propane bottles or other obstructions on the tongue, they might be covering the VIN plate.

  • Cable Recommendation for a Shelby 3,200 lbs Winch # 5481
  • With the Shelby 3,200 lbs winch # 5481 you will have to use a cable like the part # DL24100. Since this winch wasn't designed for use with a strap there is no way to attach one to it effectively. For a different 3,200 lb winch that uses a strap instead of the cable I would recommend the # FW32000101. Check out the review video I attached.

  • Is it Required that a Swivel Jack Be Fully Retracted Before Towing
  • Well since this jack can fold up for storage you would not need to fully retract it before you can tow. I have had trailers with similar jacks and found that I could just crank the jack up until the wheel comes off of the ground and then pull the pin in the jack and rotate it 90 degrees and be done with it. There's no reason you would have to fully retract this jack to use it. A 3 to 1 ratio might make for difficult cranking as well since you wouldn't have the same leverage over...

  • How to Determine Trailer Dimensions for Trailer Lighting

If you are looking for the weight capacity of the trailer you can check the plate on the trailer that would have the VIN and it should have the weight capacities listed there. If you can contact the manufacturer of your trailer with the VIN you can find...

  • Solution for Coupler Repair Kit that Allow Ball to Fall Out of Coupler After Installation
  • Sounds like you need to tighten the nut on the underside of the coupler that holds the latch kit in place. This nut is used to fine-tune the tightness of the clamp on the inside of the coupler to the ball. If the ball wants to fall out of the coupler then it is not tight enough. You want to tighten it enough that the ball is held in place, but not so tight that it can't move freely. Check out the video I attached that shows how to install and adjust a coupler repair kit.

  • When Were Vehicle Identification Numbers(VIN) First Used
  • According to my research a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) was used since 1954. There was no accepted standard for these numbers so different manufacturers used different formats. In 1981 the united States standardized the format. It required all over-the-road vehicles to contain a 17-character VIN. The VIN does not include the letters I, O, or Q, to avoid confusion with the numbers 1 and 0.

  • How To Get VIN For 8 X 20 Trailer
  • It sounds like you have done the things necessary to get the VIN for your 8 X 20 trailer. Normally the VIN is located inside one of the frame rails near the front of the trailer. I recommend taking the paperwork to the local state license office and ask what is needed. They may have you take the trailer to a highway patrol facility so it can be inspected and assigned a new VIN.
