  • Where to find VIN Number on a Used Utility Trailer
  • Usually commercial trailer manufacturers will indicate the unique vehicle identification number (VIN) on the same plaque that carries their brand name, model number information and the trailer specifications. The model number of the trailer is not the same as the VIN number; the same model number may be used on multiple trailers but a VIN number is unique and individual to each one produced. If you cannot find the VIN on the trailer tongue you can check for plaques on other parts of the trail

  • Freewheel Ability of the Shelby Automatic Brake Winch # 5352
  • Yes, the Shelby Hand Winch, # 5352, has an automatic brake to prevent freewheeling. This winch uses a dual friction brake pad to stop freewheeling in both directions, in and out. There is no freewheeling option with this winch. If you would like a winch that does come with a freewheeling option, then you may be interested in the Fulton Single Speed Winch, # FT15000301. This winch has a ratchet lever to change the direction of the winch and from ratcheting to freewheeling.

  • Where to Find VIN Number on a Klinn Trailer
  • The Klinn organization was established in Derbyshire in December 1991 and formally dissolved in August 1999; hence there is no company website available for research. I was able to find a number of images of their various trailer products using a search engine. However, none of these photos gives any clear indication as to the location of the VIN number. I suggest you inspect the area around the nose of the trailer frame (where it couples to the tow vehicle) for any small placards bearing

  • Availability of Winch To Use With 1/4-Inch Wire Cable
  • If you need to have a winch that uses a wire cable I do offer the Dutton-Lainson 1,400-Lb Winch, part # DL15303. This winch will accept either a 1/4-inch wire cable or a 2-inch wide strap. It will hold up to 40 feet of 1/4-inch cable or 31 feet of 2-inch wide strap. The part number for the cable would be # DL24104 and for the strap would be # DL24260. The Shelby 1,400-Lb Winch, part # 5405, you have referenced is designed to be used with a strap only. The hub diameter of the spool is only 3/4

  • Can I Use my Original Strap with a New Winch
  • There are a few things to consider before you use a strap with a winch. The Shelby Two-Speed Hand Winch, # 5460, has a weight capacity of 2,300 lbs and requires a 2 inch wide strap. We also recommend that the strap load rating be 150 percent of the winch capacity. Another thing that I would take into consideration is the condition of your strap. If your current strap is frayed, stretched out, or has been exposed to the elements often, then I would recommend replacing the strap. For this winc

  • Replacing a Fulton Fas-Lok Trailer Coupler for a 1-7/8 Inch Ball
  • Most likely, you have a Fulton Fas-Lok coupler. Because I cannot promise the Shelby repair kit will fit, I recommend a complete coupler, # E112000340. The prices for each are about the same but with the whole coupler, you get all new parts and not just the latch.

  • Mounting Option for the Shelby Sidewind Drop Leg Jack # 6108SW
  • The Shelby Sidewind Drop Leg Jack, # 6108SW, is a weld-on style jack that does not include any mounting hardware. This jack was designed to weld directly to the trailer frame along the outer tube (see photos). If you want a bolt-on style jack, I would recommend the Fulton Square Drop Leg Jack, # FHD2500. This jack will bolt around a trailer frames up to 3 inches wide by 5 inches tall. I have attached a review video of this jack for you to check out.

  • Trailer Jack Assembly is Stuck in the Extended Postion
  • A coworker of mine had the same problem that you are having with his jack assembly that would not retract once fully extended. The solution he came up with was to manually spin the inner tube of the jack to get it to free up. Try spinning the inner tube of the jack counter clockwise, then clockwise to see if you can get it to retract again. If that does not work, then look for more serious issues such as stripped gears or the threaded shaft that the inner tube extends and retracts on could h

  • Availability of Latch Repair Kit for Older Shelby Hand Wheel Coupler
  • Although we do not deal directly with Shelby Industries, I contacted them by phone to determine if the # CP02-040 replacement latch kit would be compatible with your existing # 5123 coupler. Unfortunately, I found that your particular coupler model had been discontinued for some time and that Shelby no longer has replacement parts available for it. Your best bet would be to replace the coupler. I assume you have a 2 inch straight trailer tongue. If this is the case, you can see the replace

  • What Size Hitch Ball is Needed for a 17 foot Boston Whaler Montauk on a Factory Trailer
  • I did a bit of research and found that if your trailer is the original trailer from Boston Whaler, it should have a 2 inch coupler on it. This would mean that you need to select a 2 inch hitch ball that is rated for the total weight of your trailer and all contents fully loaded, fueled and ready to tow. I attached a link to all of the hitch balls that we stock for you to select from. My personal choice would be the Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball Set, # 903B, which is stainless steel and

  • Shelby Trailer Winch # 5353 Brake Is Slipping Even Though Handle is Tight
  • There are a couple of things you can check on your Shelby winch, # 5353. First, if there is very little or no load on the winch the brake will not work properly. If the cable is not moving out, do not continue to turn the handle counter-clockwise. If you do it will disengage the brake mechanism. Make sure to follow the minimum operating load as indicated on the winch/in the manual. You can also inspect the brake mechanism and brake disc. Remove the handle and retainer assembly and disc brake

  • Does the Shelby 1400 lbs Single Speed Winch Include a Strap for Boats
  • The Shelby 1,400 lbs Single Speed Winch, # 5405, does not include a strap to connect to your boat. The recommended strap for this winch is the Hand Winch Strap with Safety Hook, # DL24260. If you are looking for a winch that includes a strap, then I would recommend the Fulton 1,500 lbs Single Speed Winch, # FT1500Z0301. This winch will also provide you with a slightly higher load capacity. I have attached an article on hand winches for you to check out.

  • Can the Shelby Topwind Jack # 6108TW Be Welded to a Plate at the Center of the Trailer Tongue
  • A metal plate can certainly be used. We offer # BDSPBQ50 that with some fabrication would work well for you. You would need to enlarge the 2-1/3 inch hole to 2-1/2, and weld one plate to the top of the trailer frame, and one to the bottom. You would want to weld in the jack at a height so that when it is retracted, it will avoid any road debris but when extended, it would place the coupler high enough so that it can be placed on the trailer ball.

  • Quality Heavy Duty Hand Winches Needed to Safely Raise and Lower Baseball Backstop Netting
  • As long as each winch would not be required to lift over 600 lbs, I recommend going with the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch, # DL14125, which is capable of lifting up to 600 lbs and is a very economical choice. This winch will accept up to 61 feet of 5/32 cable and you could use a 50 foot length of 3/16 inch diameter cable, # DL24044. If you are required to use 3/8 inch diameter cable, I would recommend the Dutton-Lainson 3,200 lb Hand Winch, # DL15440, which should have more than the capacity

  • Winch Recommendation for Lifting 900 lbs 20 Feet High
  • The Shelby 3,200 lbs. Two-Speed Winch, # 5480, would be a good choice for your application. This winch is rated well over the capacity you would need to lift 900 lbs 20 feet and you could use the 50 foot hand winch cable, # DL24104, on this winch. A good thing about the two speed winch is that with only 900 lbs you will be able to use the lower gear and lift the object faster with less turns of the handle, for easier cranking, but more turns of the handle, use the higher gear. • Installing 2 Inch Strap On My Shelby Trailer Winch # 5408
  • I contacted our representative at Shelby about installing a strap with the Shelby Trailer Winch, part # 5408. She informed me that any 2 inch strap, like the Dutton-Lainson Strap # DL24260, will work with the Shelby Winch # 5408. The strap should attach to holes on the reel, that are near the hub of the winch on each side of the reel. The Shelby winch representative sent a diagram of the winch, I have marked where the bolt holes are where the strap bolt should attach.

  • 7 Inch Replacement Shelby Winch Handle # 0937 Recommendation for a Shelby Winch # 5460
  • The length of the handle that came on your Shelby Winch # 5466 is 10 inches long. We have a Shelby Winch Replacement Handle, part # 0937, that is 7 inches long. With a shorter handle you would have less leverage and it would be slightly more difficult to crank your boat in. However, if your boat is fairly easy to crank in with the 10 inch lever it might not be a big deal go to the shorter handle. I attached an FAQ article on winches for you to check out also.

What I would do is try to spin the inner tube of the jack first counter clockwise, and then clockwise to see if you can get it moving again. That might get it back on track and allow it to work for you. I actually had a similar problem earlier today on a jack I was measuring. After I cranked the jack to its maximum height it w

  • Where is the Trailer Serial or VIN Number Located
  • The vehicle identification number or serial number for a trailer is usually found on a plate or sticker on the trailer frame, usually on the tongue. It will also list the capacity of the trailer and/or other information. For a Shelby coupler, the model number may be stamped into the metal on top or on the underside of the coupler.

  • Replacement Strap for the Shelby 3,200 lbs. Two-Speed Winch # 5480 and # 5481
  • The # 5480 and # 5481 Shelby 3,200 lbs. Two-Speed Winches utilize a cable and the manufacturer does not recommend the use of a strap with these winches. The drum width is 2-3/4 inches and the mounting pattern is the same for both winches. The main difference between the 2 winches is that the 5481 model has a hand brake that allows you to control the load when in free wheel mode. The correct replacement cable for these winches would be one like the Hand Winch Cable with Safety Hook, # DL24100.
