great product so far! It would be nice if a few more mounting holes were drilled in the mounting plate to give you a few more options on mounting. 258146

Review from a similar Dutton-Lainson StrongArm in Trailer Winch

I purchased this winch to replace a Fulton K2550 manual winch on my ham radio tower. My tower is 54 ft tall when extended and 21 ft when retracted. It takes about 170 turns of the winch to raise/lower the tower. I removed the hand winch and placed the D-L SA9010AC winch in the existing mounting holes. I like this winch since it comes with a stainless hub since it will be used outside. This winch has a 2700 lb load rating. I am lifting around 700 lbs. This winch comes with no cable or freewheeling clutch. I reused the 1/4" stainless cable on the winch. I raised the tower and it took 2 minutes and 10 seconds. Lowering took 2 minutes. Well within the maximun run time of 3 minutes. The cable length winched was 17 ft. I have raised and lowered the tower several times to work on the antenna's and it worked properly every time. Attached are several pictures of the installation. I already recommended this winch to another ham operator. 136607

I too am considering this winch. I have a US towers 455, about the same height you reference, that came with a Fulton 1550 and I have upgraded to a 2550 and then a 3000. But still takes too much effort. So my question is: are you still happy with this winch? How long have you had it? Any issues at all? Thanks,

Hi Fred,Yes, I am still happy with the winch. It has been on a couple months so far. Only comment I forgot was, the optional cover for the winch is very snug when you have to keep the remote and gfi plug covered. I think I will be making a separate waterproof cover for those two parts so the winch cover will fit better

Actually, I have become dissatisfied with the Fulton 3000. I tried attaching a Hawg drill like so many have suggested. It worked the first summer, but after a winter exposure, the drill tore it up this spring. I have spent the last few weeks investigating motorized winches and finally ordered the Stong Arm Dutton-Liason. It looks very much like a 2550 with a cover and ac motor and is stainless mostly. It hasnt come yet so I will let you know next year how it is doing.

Thanks for the reply Fred. I have spoken with my contacts and Fulton and he informed me that this winch is not intended to be used with any electric drill. This is becuase of the additional friction that using the drill exert is more than what the winch is intended to handle, and can cause damage to the winch.

So far so good used @ 10 times and no problems pulling my 8000 lb. fish boat. The provided wire harness had to be lengthened to function but who cares the winch works great and a strap winch is the ONLY way to go with a boat of this weight.

The winch appears to be good and everything it was advertised to be. However there are two problems with the wiring harness. 1. The bracket with the attached fuses is not designed to connect to a side terminal type battery. Actually Iā€™m not sure how it would connect to an upper post battery unless there were secondary posts with wing nuts like found on a marine battery. 2. The positive side of the wiring harness is 25ā€™ but the negative side is only 5ā€™. If you ground the harness to your truck frame you may not be able to reach to the winch especially since the 9000 winch is for a larger boat which means the trailer yoke and support post might be further back. I had this problem. I purchase some of the quick release adapters and made a five foot pigtail. 59216
