Nissan Versa

I recently received this product and it was packaged nicely and the instructions were fairly simple to follow. Only trouble I had in assembly was when I was putting on the wheel mount sliders they were a tight fit but was able to overcome with a little WD-40. This rack is well made and sturdy. Very intuitive design for carrying multiple bikes of different sizes and styles which was the selling point for me. I love this rack a great deal which is why I'm angry I can't use it on our Nissan Versa, this rack clearly was only made to be used on SUV, UTE, trucks, etc. anything with ground clearance. Loaded down with only one bike and in the highest setting possible my bike is only 4-5 inches from the ground and rubs coming out of our neighborhood drive way, it could benefit for a riser for cars or maybe more settings as the only ones available are straight up, V shape, and Flat out. Overall a great product and highly recommend it if you have a vehicle with ground clearance already in place. 39241

Installation easy, bike is stable, but because of the continental spare tire, I can carry only one bike. Thanks, 91917

Comments

I also purchased the Rola NV2 after a few email queries to etrailer. I knew that Id have an issue finding a hitch mounted rack to hold two bikes and clear the continental spare tire on my 2014 Roadtrek Agile. I wish the etrailer expert had simply said outright in his video that the NV2 will not hold two bikes when attached to a Roadtrek with a continental spare tire kit. The NV2 bare arm will clear the spare tire but it wont once its parts are attached to that arm. In the same video the expert does not recommend any other style bike carrier with a receiver extension because the extension cuts the rated weight carrying capacity in half. I can live with that because Im carrying two carbon fiber bikes. A receiver extension also causes the bike rack to sway more according to the expert but the NV2 has two points two pins that allow it move quite a bit. The NV2, for me, is an interim solution while I research a rack that will hold two bikes more securely, offer more ground clearance for my bikes, and clear my spare tire using a receiver extension with anti-rattle pins installed. My Rola came with one incorrect part and etrailer support was wonderful in getting the correct part shipped out promptly from their supplier.

Phone service and responsiveness with Etrailer was excellent; Only beef I have is that the instructions could be more descriptive. Fortunately, the item's box has lots of pictures to go by and I was always good at "color by numbers"! The product design is streamlined and ergonomic. 69723

Overall OK but after 6 months, all of the straps had deteriorated and cracked. The plastic pieces sun damaged and were warped.I would not recommend this product based on design and longevity.Etrailer however is terrific.

assembled just fine. Works well for hanging the bikes. Haven't gone any place with the bikes yet so I don't how long it will last. Service was outstanding as well as the price. I will continue to do business with E Trailer in the future. 146375

I have used this bike rack several times in the last year and have had no problems with it. I can hang two bikes on it and have them tied down securely in under five minutes. Outstanding product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good bike rack.

As advertised. Lightweight and easy to assemble. Perfect for the "girls" bike since it is very adjustable and we eliminated the straight bar attachment needed with a standard bike rack. My wife can now lode the bike with ease. Communications with etrailer.com was well above average and there online videos really help. I will definitely do business with them again. 88568

etrailer.com has been terrific in customer support, knowledge of products for specific applications and great comparative pricing. They always get back to us regarding product application questioning or parts warrantee concerns. They are great ..

The Rola NV2 is just what I needed for my new car. An easy to take on/off bike rack that was light enough and stylish, too. The 3 point holding strategy keeps the bikes well mounted without any swaying or banging. The setup was a cinch, and the straps are easy to secure. I have two suggestions for product improvement. 1. Include a locking mechanism or anti-sway device to eliminate the small amount of play in the arms at the base and at the hitch converter. 2. Include straps long enough for deep dish wheels! Otherwise, this rack rocks. 41872

I would also like to see a raised hitch for improving the ground clearance for us RVrs.

The bike racks that are rated for use behind the back of an RV that to offer a raised shank is the Pro Series Q-Slot # PS63134. However if you are only carrying 2 bikes, and need additional ground clearance you might consider some of the RV ladder rack options. This is of course as long as you have a ladder installed and it can support the weight of the carrier and the bikes. I have included a link for your reference below.

Product is great. Putting it together took awhile as it's easy to confuse the parts, but in the end I got it right. If you buy a pin with a lock to keep it secure on your hitch, buy two of them. The swivel that allows you to switch from a 1.25" to 2" hitch has a pin as well. So you need a pin with a lock for the part that slides into your hitch and you need a pin with a lock for the other end of the swivel. We have a "girls" bike that didn't work on racks that you hang the bike by its frame. This rack uses the tires, so it works great. 68255

The product came from the manufacturer with a wrong part. I contacted Etrailer and their customer service representative, Rebecca. was very helpful. However, the manufacturer shipped the wrong replacement part directly to me which necessitated another call to Rebecca. I faxed her the instruction sheet with the part I was needing circled. Finally got the correct part from the manufacturer. Unique rack but have not had a chance to yet put it on the road. Assembly was fairly easy. 225592

Bike rack arrived at 3:05PM. After several restarts on assembly (parts put on out of order) the bikes were mounted on the rack by 5:20. 54312

I am disappointed in this bike carrier. Even with a 3 point mounting system for each bike, the bikes can still swing independently. The bike closes to the vehicle will swing enough for the crank pedal to hit the lower part of the SUV's rear door. This should have had a 4 point mount system to keep this from happening. 219673

Perfect for hauling bicycles with different frames. No need for the extra bar to correctly haul a womans bike. The ability to swing the asthma low and out of the way with a single click is great. A very strong and stable rack. Now I have to get rid of my old bike rack to someone that doesn't know this type exists;) 43175

An excellent product. Initial assembly took some doing as the parts were a very tight fit. Once together they all work great. The bikes are secure and dont move around at all. This is the best rack I have ever used. And the only rack I believe that carries our mountain bikes with out a worry. 31904

It arrived undamaged and quicker than expected; out of the box assembly was easy;orienting the bikes on the carrier took only about ten minutes. It appears to be very well made; the true test will be how well the bracket arm switches holdup. 27020

Volkswagen

I bought this rack because I need something I can get on and off the car easily by myself with a back injury. Does the trick! It's a bit rattly, but it gets me to and from the trail without crushing the top tube on my carbon bike, or hurting myself. I also love that they ship it with extra non-specific velcro straps (always handy), and that I can put the whole thing in the trunk so it doesn't get stolen. The major drawback is the ground clearance - I have a VW hatchback, which is pretty low to the ground. The wheels of the bike (29er MTB) itself are the lowest point, even with the cradles at the highest point, and backing down my driveway is pretty hairy. If they would just make the V a little steeper angled, or otherwise raise it up, it would be great. Also, I think I would have issues hitting my bumper if I tried to put another bike on the car side; on my car at least, this is more of a single-bike rack. 85531

Try getting the extended Shank w Rise for Highland SportWing Bike Carriers - 1-1/4 Hitches part 1370800 This extended shank will give you more ground clearance and more space from rear of your vehicle.

Jeep Wrangler

I bought this for an upcoming trip. Product arrived on time, was packaged well, and went together well. I have only installed it and took a short ride around the block at this time. But it appears that it will do the job. The only thing I am having difficulty with right now is the bike closest to the vehicle. I have a Jeep Wrangler, and that bike hits the tire. Since I am only transporting one bike on this trip, it will work fine. When I return, and I have the time, I believe I will weld the correct channel to the existing channel to not only lengthen it to 6" to 7" to get it away from the tire, but then it will be dedicated to the size of my receiver without using the adapter. Other than that, I am pleased with the product. If there is another way to fit the bike someone please let me know. 147604

Works well with my vehicle (Ford Fusion). After opening the package I was concerned that it might have excessive movement and prone to rattles. But once mounted and my road bike was hung as instructed it is solid without rattles. I prefer this type of rack (bike hangs by the wheels) over the standard bar hanging type. Great rack for the dollars. 77521

Used this rack each week for the last year. Happy with the design. Love the way it assembles and stores in the trunk. Two bikes fit, but the inside bike must be removed before accessing trunk. Two issues: the first is that the bottom of the rack or the bike tires scrape the ground when driving over dips. Must approach a driveway at an angle. The hitch is too long and low for my car. Would work better for a small SUV. Thinking about modifying the lengthheight of the receiver since I rarely travel with my road bike and mountain bike together. Second the rubber straps have worn out. They are not unsafe, but will need to buy replacements soon.

We have two bikes with very different frames so the standard bike rack wouldn't work. This was the only bike rack that seemed up for the job without being too big for the car or our budget. It arrived within a few days, is solid and has a good finish. Yesterday we tried it out successfully. As others have noted the bike closest to the car can be awkward to load and unload, but with practice that will be resolved. The right technique just isn't instinctive. The rack is easy to setup, easy to remove and store in the trunk and seems completely secure and reliable in use. I'm glad we chose it. 132659

I like this style of bike carrier because it supports the bike by the wheels rather than the frame. The bike is carried level and on my model of car the licence plate is not as obscured as with a bike carrier single pole type. I was always leery of getting a ticket for licence plates not plainly visible, not so much now. Sounds a little far fetched but maybe not in this day and age. The bike is carried a little close to the ground but is not a problem so far. I carry only one bike. 154781

I am surprised this rack does not have more reviews. I almost bought the Swagman XTC, but this design is much simpler, sturdier, lighter, and higher weight capacity. Also, with the 110% price match, I was able to get it for a really good price. The rack breaks down very easily in about 30 seconds and stores easily in the trunk. 32501

Love this bike rack. It is super simple to assemble, takes less than 2 mins to mount to hitch and the bikes are loaded. It is light and disassembles in a flash as well. Holds your expensive carbon fiber bike by the wheels not the expensive poxy top tube. 36997

Great product, best design, uses rims for mounting, rather than the top tube, so any style of frame in accommodated. quickly breaks into 3 pieces for easy storage, very light so anyone can install it. 22418
