Thule Watersport Carriers Review - 2015 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we are test fitting the Thule Hull-A-Port Kayak Carrier. It's a J-style .J-hook style kayak carrier and the tie downs are included with that. The part number for that is TH834. Now we do already have our kayak connected to our J-hooks. We're going to go ahead and remove the kayak. Then we're going to show you how we connect the J-hooks to our crossbars.



Swagman Watersport Carriers Review - 2015 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we are test fitting the Swagman contour J style kayak carrier, part number S65148. Now as you can see, we do already have our kayak strapped down. We're going to take the straps off and show you the best way that we strap down the kayak and also how we connect the carrier to our crossbars here. So the first thing we'll do is take off our straps on the body of the kayak. We'll just press down on the silver lever here and release that strap. Now we have the kayak connected down under the crossbar, up over the back part of the kayak through the hook of this crossbar here, and then up back over the kayak. We have it the same way on this side as well. Now we also have our bow and stern straps.



Rhino Rack Watersport Carriers Review - 2015 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we're test fitting the Rhino Rack J-style Kayak Carrier. This is a universal mounted kayak carrier, and part number for that is S510. We're also using the Rhino Rack Anchor Straps for the front and the back. They come in a 1 per package, and the part number for that is RRBAS. The first thing we're going to do is unhook our kayak, and take that off, and we'll show you how we put our J-hooks onto our crossbars. We'll go ahead and undo our strap keeper here, and release that, and then we'll push down on the black lever and pull out our strap. Now, how we have the straps connected, they're looped under the cross bar, and through the J-hook here, around the back through the J-hook in the back, and then over the front side of the kayak.



SportRack Watersport Carriers Review - 2015 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we're test fitting the SportRack kayak carrier, your J style kayak carrier that come with your straps here. The part number for that is SR5511. The first thing we're going to do is unstrap our kayak and take that off. We'll come up here to our body straps here. We're just going to do the excess that we have strapped in and we'll go ahead and release that. Now, if we take a look at how the kayak is strapped down, we've got the strap underneath this crossbar here, over the kayak, around the back and it's under the J-hook in the back and then back over the top of the kayak.



Thule SUP Taxi Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier Review - 2013 Volkswagen Passat

today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, we'll be test fitting the Thule SUP Taxi stand-up paddle board carrier, with a two-board capacity, part number TH810. Now with the roof rack system already installed on our vehicle, we'll begin our test fit by placing the front part of the carrier onto the front cross bar. We'll loosen up the gray knobs to allow the strap to go around the underside of the cross bar, and will then hook it back into the head of the top bracket. We'll then tighten down the gray knob to tighten down the strap to secure the carrier to the cross bar. We will repeat these steps for both brackets on the front part of the carrier. We'll now place the rear part of the carrier onto the vehicle's rear cross bar, and again loosen up the gray knobs to allow us to bring the rubber-coated stainless steel straps around the underside of the cross bar, and will then hook them back into the head of the top bracket.



Thule SUP Taxi Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier Review - 2012 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2012 Volkswagen Passat, well be test fitting the Thule Taxi Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier, part number TH810. To begin our test fit, well set the carrier on top of the crossbar and bring the rubber coated steel strap around the underside of the bar and tighten it down with the grey knob. Well then repeat these steps for the rear crossbar. Once you get the carriers tightened down, were ready to load our cargo. Well undo the silver latch located at the front face of the carrier to allow us to bring the black rope out. You will then be able to put your cargo onto the carrier and then tighten it down and secure it with the grey latch again.
