Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Thule T2 Pro XTR four bike platform rack. We're going to take a look at how this multi bike bike rack fits our 2022 Mazda CX9. So if you're a fan of the Thule T2 Pro XTR which is their premium bike rack but you want the version that can carry around a lot of bikes, this is gonna be the one. You can take off the add-on and convert it back to a two bike platform rack or you can keep it in the four bikes configuration. Well, when you do have this many bikes though you also have more space as well as more weight that you are going to have to consider. The very first thing we're gonna do actually is we're going to take a measurement for the length that adds to the back of the Mazda CX9.



Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9

Now this is going to be a platform-style bike rack, able to accommodate up to two bikes. Each can have a weight capacity up to 35 pounds, and our main point of contact is going to be up on our frame here. So with those two things in mind, unfortunately, our heavier e-bikes are not going to be an option, and our carbon frame bikes are not going to be an option either due to the fact that we are making that contact.



Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9

Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 on our 2022 Mazda CX-9. Our bike rack is going to be a platform style bike rack and width to accommodate up to two bikes, individually weight rated for 35 pounds each. We are going to be making frame contact as our main point here in the center, so unfortunately our carbon frame bikes are not going to be an option. And because of that weight limit, our e-bikes are not going to be an option, but we can actually accommodate a lot of alternative frame bikes. Because if you look at our center mast, our main point can move up and down and kind of rotate around.



Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9

Hey, everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro on our 2022 Mazda CX-9. Now, our rack is going to be a hanging-style bike rack, able to accommodate up to four bikes individually weight rated for 35 pounds each. Because we are making that frame contact and due the weight rating, unfortunately, e-bikes and those carbon frame bikes are not going to be an option here. We can accommodate some alternative frame bikes, but you wanna make sure that you do get an adapter bar for that. Now, it does offer a tilt away feature, but you don't wanna tilt away with those bikes loaded, because that's just additional weight to worry about.



Yakima RidgeBack Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9

Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima RidgeBack on our 2022 Mazda CX9. Now our bike rack is going to be a hanging style bike rack able to accommodate up to four bikes individual weight capacity for each of those being 40 pounds. Because of that weight capacity, unfortunately, we're not going to be carrying around our e-bikes and because our main points of contact is on our frame we're not gonna be able to do our carbon frame bikes either. But if you do have an alternative frame bike or a kids' bike and get a adapter bar you may be able to fit these onto here. Our bike rack does come with a tilt away feature but we don't wanna do that mostly because of the aggressive tilt might endanger the bikes towards the ground and you don't want to have all those bikes loaded up and have to lift all that weight.



RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9

Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the RockyMount's MonoRail, on our 2022 Mazda CX-9. Now our rack is going to be a platform style bike rack able to hold up to two bikes individually weight rated for 60 pounds each, meaning that our heavier e-bikes are gonna be able to stand on this rack. We are all also making no frame contact. Our two main points of contact are going to be a rubber strap back here, and our main point's going to be a hook we use on the front meaning we're not making any frame contact. So our alternative frame as well as our carbon frame bike racks are going to be used on here too.

This is a dual wheel mount bike rack, and we're gonna take a look at how well it fits our 2022 Mazda CX-9. The GuideRail is a pretty cool bike rack. It has some premium features which matches premium price and you have a dual wheel mount, so no matter what type of frame your bike has you're not worried about it touching it at all. 60 pound weight capacity's also good for your heavy electric bikes. The focus of this rack is just to make it easier for you to load and unload your bikes, as well as do things like tilt the rack away.

So the XTC 2 tilt takes the simplicity of the XC and the affordability of an entry level bike rack but it also adds a tilt away feature for if you want better access to your hatch even when your bikes are on. So it is popular because of its low price point while still getting the job done but it also has its downsides as well. With the Mazda CX9, it gets really close to the vehicle meaning your bikes will be close to the vehicle. So let's talk about features like that. Now, the main thing with the XTC2 TILT is that it tilts away.

So the OnRamp is really designed for those heavy electric bikes because you have a 66 pound weight capacity per bike, and you have a ramp included and attached to the rack. Now there are some other features to this bike rack, and we are gonna focus on the CX-9 here today. We'll talk about things like how close it gets to the vehicle, and with the ground clearance, do you really need a ramp But another of its features that it has is the tilt away feature, so we'll start there. To tilt the bike rack away, there are two pins you're gonna have to pull.

So the Destination E is really designed for those heavy electric bikes, but it can also work with other bikes in different shapes and sizes. Now we are going to focus on our Mazda CX-9 here just to see how well it fits with this car. I think, it's like a medium to okay fit because of our ground clearance. The ramp this comes with does come in handy with those 70-pound bikes, and we do have clearance for our hatch, but also has a little bit of extra effort to get to those features. So that feature that I mentioned was the tilt-away feature.



CURT Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Curt Premium 4 Hanging Rack and we'll take a look at how this fits our 2022 Mazda CX-9. So the Curt Premium is a hanging rack that I would recommend for people that are taking around family bikes, as well as maybe your mountain bikes because of the unique way this is designed. Now, when possible, I do recommend taking a look at the platform racks we have available for your CX-9, but I also understand that the hanging rack is preferred by someone because it takes up less space, as well as is lighter than most racks. So, here we have the four bike version. This is also available as a five bike version, which is awesome if you want to get more bikes around. With this in place, you have one and two of your normal size cradles, but notice how the arms pivot into where they're closer together.

So the GuideRail is actually one of my favorite bike racks, just because it has a dual wheel mount system, making it super fast to load and unload your bikes. But also it has a weight capacity for electric bikes. You can put carbon fiber frame bikes and in my opinion I think it looks really good. Now with the Mazda CX-9, we've actually found a little bit of an issue here with the GuideRail.

Inno Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Mazda CX-9

Today on our 2018 Mazda CZ9, we're gonna be test fitting the Inno vertical hang four-bike hanging style rack. For inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, which is part number INH540. Now this bike rack is pretty unique as a different way of porting your bikes when compared to your typical hanging style racks that have the two arms except they're parallel like this. This one has the two vertical arms like this that are perpendicular to the ground and it holds your bike at the intersection of the cross tube and the down tube of your bike, right there. Kind of wedges itself down and then down here, we're gonna have another cradle that's supporting about the midsection of the down tube. And you've got two straps holding it in.



Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2018 Mazda CX-9

Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Mazda CX-9, we're gonna be test fitting the Yakima full back two bike rack with trunk mounts, part number Y02634. We already have a bike installed on a rack, let's take a closer look here. We'll start off at the ends of our arms here. On one, we actually have the patented Yakima bottle opener as we do with most of the Yakima bike racks. On the other one, however, we have an integrated cable lock that can wrap around the very last bike and attach to the point here to be locked into place. This will keep both bikes secure on the rack, once it's installed.Moving on the actual cradles here, these are stationary, meaning they can't move back and forth, but they're spaced enough apart where spacing shouldn't be an issue.



Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2018 Mazda CX-9

Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Mazda CX9 we're going to be test fitting the Yakima halfback two bike rack for trunk mounts, part number Y02636. We already have a bike installed on our rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look here.We're going to start off with our arms. At the ends of both of our arms we're going to have the patented Yakima bottle openers. After that we're going to have our cradles here. The cradles are stationary, meaning they cannot move back and forth, but they do have this TPE padding here. That's going to act as kind of a shock absorber while you're driving and help protect the frame.

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Mazda CX-9

Hi everyone, it's here at etrailer. And today we're looking at the Kuat Sherpa 2.02 bike rack here on our 2016 Mazda CX9. Now the Kuat Sherpa is an awesome stylish bike rack, which is great for most of your bikes, especially if you have carbon 3M bikes, or if you need something that has locks and is kind of middle of the road, not as expensive as say the Kuat NV but still offers you all the premium features you could ask for. So one of those features is that this can tilt away. To do so, you pull this lever right over here and you just drop that bike rack down and you'll want to tilt it away if you want to access your hatch. So, as you can see here on our Mazda CX9, we actually have plenty of clearance between our door and our handlebars, allowing us to get into our trunk, we can grab our bags, or grab our helmets or grab a water, all of that without having to take our bike rack or our bike off.
