Expert Answers about Trailer Coupler

  • Does the Bulldog Cast Head Trailer Coupler BD4420000317 Come with Mounting Hardware
  • For the Bulldog trailer coupler # BD4420000317 you will need to use your own hardware. The bolt holes on the coupler are 5/8 inches in diameter. You will want to use grade 5 or higher quality bolts. The coupler could be welded on, however because this is a cast coupler and welding cast is difficult, it would have to be done by a qualified professional welder with experience in cast welding along with special electrodes to complete a weld installation.

A reverse lockout solenoid valve like part # T4748800 is not required but may be needed along with the Solenoid Shield, part # T4835800183. These items will allow you to shift your tow vehicle into reverse and backup without activating the brakes on the trailer. I have included a link for the installation instructions which also includes a parts list for the brake actuator.

  • Are There Instructions Included with Trailer Coupler Mounting
  • There are not any instructions included with the Trailer Coupler 1-7/8 inch Ball 2 inch Channel Tongue 2,000 lbs, part # 2833AT. That is because there are two ways it can be mounted. It can be either bolted or welded on, it is up to the trailer owner how he prefers to mount the coupler.
