According to my TracRac representative, the clamps that hold the front crossbar of the rack to the top of the bed side rail will extend into the interior of the bed by 1-1/4 inches per side, for a total of about 2-1/2 inches. I discovered the product will fit all styles of Ford Rangers going back to the 1999 models including your 2003 Ford Ranger Styleside. The width on the DeeZee ladder rack, # DZ95053, is 23 inches. It could be used to carry a canoe but you may have to carry the canoe on its side. You would also need to tie down the bow and stern using something like # Y04031. I also recommend using some foam blocks, # ABR528, on the ladder rack bars to protect the canoe.
