Trailer Hitch Extender with a Step to Use on a Truck with In-bed Camper and to Tow a Trailer- We actually have an extension that is 18 inches long, and has a built-in step on it. Take a look at # RP11006. Like you have said, by using the extension the tongue weight capacity of the hitch is reduced by 50 percent. But as long as the tongue weight of the trailer does not exceed the reduced capacity you should be fine.
I would also urge you to disconnect the trailer before stepping on the step because the combined weight of a person on the step and the trailer tongue weight could exceed t

How to Keep Bolts on Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061 From Backing Off- To keep the u-bolt nuts of the # RM-061 from loosening, make sure you are using both nuts (the primary and the jamb nut) on both sides of the u-bolt.
When installing the Quiet Hitch, snug down the first nut on each side then run down the second nut. Using two wrenches working against each other, tighten the outer nut while trying to loosen the inner bolt. This will effectively lock the inner and outer bolt together, preventing them from loosening.

2 Inch Trailer Hitch Extension with 5,000 Pound Gross Trailer Weight Capacity- I do have a solution that might work for you, though it is not an extender. An extender would end up reducing the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent anyway so it is not the best solution for you. Instead, I recommend a long ball mount. Take a look at # 80232 as an example. It is rated for 6,000 pounds and measures 16 inches long from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. It has a 3/4 inch rise or a 2 inch drop.

Why Towing Is Not Recommended Using Hitch Extender # D189 For 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Receivers- Hitch extenders are not recommended on Class I hitches because when you add a hitch extender it reduces your total available tow and tongue weight by 50 percent, and that in turns increases the pressure/torque that is put on both your hitch and frame of the vehicle.
Class I hitches have such a low capacity, 200 pound tongue weight and 2000 pound towing weight, that using an extender is a serious issue whereas on Class III and up hitches, the issue is less severe. Check your owners manual for

How to Figure Weight Capacity When Using a Hitch Extender or Extra Long Ball Mount- One thing to note when using a hitch extender like the Hidden Hitch, # 80307, is that the the tongue weight and towing capacity of your trailer hitch will be reduced by 50 percent due to the increased leverage that is placed on your trailer hitch from your trailer.
In your situation, even with the towing capacities of your hitch capacities reduced by 50 percent, you are still limited to the 3,500 lbs gross trailer weight capacity and 350 lbs tongue weight capacity of the hitch extender. I ha

Why are There Two Different Size Holes on the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 87440- The Hidden Hitch Class III Trailer Hitch, # 87440, that you have on your 2009 Honda CR-V will use the 5/8 inch hole to secure hitch mounted accessories or ball mounts to the trailer hitch. The smaller hole is designed for the J-Pin Stabilization Pin, # 63201, and is not intended to be a hitch pin hole.
If you have a hitch mounted accessory with a 1/2 inch hole, then it is probably intended to be used with a 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver, rather than a 2 inch receiver. If this is the case,

How Much Rattle and Slop is Too Much for An Accessory Used in a 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch- Some accessories fit more loosely than others in any given trailer hitch. Also check the accessories you are using. They should be slightly smaller so they can fit in the receiver easily. There will always be some play. The longer the accessory, the more it will appear to move. The Titan extension # RP45018 as an example is so long that a little m

Recommendation for Carrying a Mobility Scooter with a 2009 Hyundai Sonata- The only way to carry a mobility scooter with a 2009 Hyundai Sonata is to install a trailer hitch and tow a small trailer. All of the trailer hitches available for your vehicle are Class I hitches. This means there are limited accessories and limited tongue weight capacity.
Fortunately we have a solution for this. First you will need a trailer hitch like # 60816. It comes with the correct ball mount, hitch pin, and clip. You will need a 2 inch ball, # 19258, for the trailer I recommend.

You will need to make sure that the length of the shank on the hitch ball is long enough to accommodate the extra thickness of the bracket and still have at least 2 threads past the nut when properly tightened down.
