The other way is to get a ball mount with the required rise. The first step is to find out exactly how much height adjustment is actually required to level your trailer. With the vehicle and trailer uncoupled on level ground, measure the hitch height from th

Drawbar # 2753 and Interchangeable Ball Set # 901B Recommendation for a 2004 Range Rover- Since your 2004 Range Rover already has a hitch you will need a couple more items before you could tow your John boat.
The first thing you will need is a Ball Mount 2-3/4 inch Rise or 4 inch Drop # 2753. Since you said you would be interested in an interchangeable ball set the Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball Set - 1-7/8 inch and 2 inch, part # 901B, that you referenced would be a choice for you.

How to Remove a Stuck Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Hitch Ball- I spoke with my contact at Convert-A-Ball and was told that you should try to use a brass punch initially.
If the Pin in the Interchangeable Ball Set, # 900B, will not move with the brass punch you will need to attempt to use a harder steel punch. Some penetrating lubricant, like WD-40 or PB Blaster may help with removal also.
If a steel punch will not dislodge the pin, you will need to have the pin pressed out, a local automotive shop should have a press that can perform this operation.

Is a 2 inch or 2-5/16 inch Ball a Standard Size for a Hitch Ball- 2 inch or 2-5/16 inch diameter balls are pretty standard sized balls, it is not surprising that the coupler on the 1997 Coleman camper accepts either one of those sizes.
For a 2 inch ball I would recommend a Hitch Ball with 2 inch Diameter and Medium Shank, part # 19247, and for a 2-5/16 inch ball I would recommend a Hitch Ball with 2-5/16 inch Diameter and Medium Shank, part # 19287.
If you need a ball mount as well I would recommend a Ball Mount 2-3/4 inch Rise or 4 inch Drop, part # 275

Can a 1-7/8 inch Ball be Used to Replace a 2 inch Ball on a Trailer that is Hard to Unhook- No, it is not safe to use a 1-7/8 inch ball with a trailer that has a 2 inch ball coupler. Most couplers have an adjustment for the latching mechanism that may solve your issue.
If you are hooking and unhooking on a surface that is not level, normally uphill or downhill, this too can cause the issue you have explained. If you can attach and un hook on a more level surface there will not be as much pressure between the hitch ball and coupler and the process will be much easier.

Should Hitch Ball Angle Be Adjusted Up and Down or Angled to the Rear Using Weight Distribution- The hitch ball angle adjustment on weight distribution systems is designed to provide more or less distribution of the tongue weight on your trailer hitch to the trailer and vehicle axles. If you adjust the ball angle farther away from the towing vehicle, you will angle the weight distribution spring bars down toward the ground and that will distribute more weight. Angling the ball forward towards the towing vehicle puts less angle on the spring bars and therefore less weight is distributed.
