  • Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2016 Forester 2.5i with Factory Hitch
  • For your 2016 Subaru Forester with a factory hitch the Yakima Holdup part # Y02445 would be an excellent choice that we would highly recommend. This platform rack is one of the nicest on the market due how it will only touch the bikes you carry at the tires, it's relative light weight for a platform bike rack at 49 lbs. Check out the review video I attached for more info. The Hitching Post Pro part # TH934XTR wouldn't be nearly as nice of an option, but if you were looking for a hanging...

  • For your 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon the Hidden Hitch Class II hitch part # 90208 is a confirmed fit and would work well for your bike rack. There is a Sport model Outback here in the US, but since you don't have a Sport model this hitch is going to fit and work well and you wouldn't need to worry about it. I actually just spoke with a guy with a Sport model Outback who was asking about when we were going to have a trailer hitch available. I attached an install video for you to check out...

  • Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon that Allows Rear Cargo Area Access
  • My favorite hitch bike rack that allows rear cargo area access is the Thule Vertex Swing part # TH9031XT which can swing out and away from the rear of a vehicle with bikes loaded to give you total rear cargo area access. Check out the review video I attached for more info on the rack. Now you will need a Class III hitch like the Hidden Hitch part # 87568 which has been confirmed as a fit and would work well. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well. If...

  • I have a great solution for you, but based on how you like to load your kayaks the Yakima EvenKeel # Y04052 would not be the ideal choice. For that you would want the Yakima SweetRoll part # Y04074 which is designed for loading in the exact way you like to. It has a roller built into the rear mounts to allow the kayak to roll up as you load it. Check out the review video I attached as well.

  • Trailer Hitch for a 2009 Subaru Forester to Tow a Small Yard Waste Trailer
  • Whether you are towing a trailer or carrying a bike rack the trailer hitch used will be the same. For your 2009 Subaru Forester I recommend Curt hitch # 13147. This is a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver so it is great for towing. I checked the owner's manual for a 2009 Forester and if the trailer does not have brakes then the capacity the vehicle can tow is 1,000 pounds. With brakes the capacity is 2,400 pounds. Check your owner's manual to verify. Since you plan on doing some...

The best bang for you buck trunk rack is the Yakima FullBack 2 Bike Rack # Y02633 which has been confirmed as a fit for your 2016 Forester with or without the electronic tailgate. • What is the Bumper to Hitch Pin Clearance on the Hidden Hitch for a 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • When we installed the Hidden Hitch part # 87568 on a 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon like yours we found that it measure 5-1/2 inches from the center of it's hitch pin hole to the outer most portion of the bumper. The difference between this and the # 87446 you have installed on your 2007 Outback is that this hitch instead has 8 inches from the pin hole out to the bumper. So on the new Outback with the new hitch you would have 2-1/2 additional inches of clearance to hopefully allow you to...

There is a way to get it set just right. Basically you take the vehicle and trailer to an empty parking lot, set the controller to half power, and then get going at about 25 miles per hour. • Why Do Trailer Hitches Have Higher Towing Capacities than the Vehicles They Fit
  • You bring up a great point which brings up a great question. There is a good reason that hitches like the Curt # C13144 have a higher capacity than the vehicle it fits. Hitch capacities are rated separately from the vehicle they are installed on. The # 87568 distance is 5-1/2 inches and the # C13206 is 2-1/2 inches. That can really matter when selecting any accessories for your Outback. • 3-Bike Platform Style Bike Rack for a 2016 Subaru Outback
  • Yes, a platform style bike rack is better in terms of keeping the bikes from making contact with each other compared to hanging style racks. On a platform rack the bikes basically cannot move. More and more bike racks are being made to accommodate the 29ers and the 27-1/2 inch wheels won't be a problem either. There are some 3 bike platform racks but more options in the 4-bike category. It also depends on the size of your daughter's bike but I can cover that. For a nice and tidy...

I attached a review video for you to check out as well. For a 2 inch hitch then to fit your 2016 Subaru Outback you would want the part # 87568 which is a 2 inch hitch confirmed as a fit.

I've seen references online that say the Impreza has a 2000 lb capacity for automatic transmission equipped models and 1000 lbs for manual transmission models. The crossbar spread, distance from center to center of crossbar, needed for the # SR7095 cargo box is 21-1/2 inches. • Platform Bike Rack Recommendation to Use at the Rear of a Coach House 23 Foot Motorhome

The reason is that at the rear of a motorhome the ride quality is much rougher than at the rear of a non-RV vehicle. We have racks that are rated for this application though. The Swagman Platform Bike Rack part # S64663 is a somewhat similar platform bike rack that would work well for you. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.

So if you went with a higher capacity hitch on either your 2016 Subaru Outback like part # 87568 or on your Equinox you would have to go by what is listed in the owners manual as the overall capacity if it is less.
