Expert Answers about Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

  • Do the Cross Member Bolts of the Curt E16 Hitch Get Tightened to the Legs
  • I found the section under the installation instructions for the Curt E16 Hitch part # C16115 that you are referring to and it does say to only finger tighten the bolts that hold the crossmember to the legs of the hitch. So I called up my tech contact at Curt and he informed me that you will need to torque those bolts down and that the instructions are somewhat misleading since it only goes as far as finger tightening those bolts.

Once you have determined you overall tire diameter check out the other link I attached to the right that has all of the covers we offer. You will want to pick one that your tire size fits the range of.

  • Compatibility of Reese Weight Distribution Shanks for 2-1/2 Inch Receivers with Ford OEM
  • I cannot say for certainty if one of the shanks designed for a Class V hitch would work. There are sometimes fit problems using aftermarket ball mounts and shanks in the 2010-2012 Ford OEM Class V hitches. The OEM hitch uses a more rounded radius in the corners of the receiver tube, which sometimes can prevent aftermarket accessories from being installed in the hitch. The Reese # RP54976 and # RP54977 are designed and tested with Reese, Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite hitches. Reese has found...

  • How to Install a Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch on a Flat Bed Truck
  • Since you have a flatbed on your truck now the only recommended way to use a Companion hitch will be to first use the # BWGNRK1500 as a gooseneck hitch and then for a fifth wheel hitch you would need the # BWRVK3050. The # BWGNRK1108 that you had previously installed on your truck is not compatible with flatbed trucks so there would be no recommended way for you to use it.

For that you would want the Reese Elite Underbed Rail Kit part # RP30126. Since you have a Reese Revolution pin box on your trailer you won't need a slider hitch to make 90 degree turns. • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Install Kits for a 2014 Ford F-250
  • I checked with Reese and you can install the 4-Bolt universal installation kit # RP30095 on your 2014 Ford F-250. We do not have a video showing installation of this kit but I have linked the instructions to the right. If you use this kit the rails are only held on by 2 bolts per rail and a center bolt just for stability. That is why Reese, and us here at etrailer, shy away from the 4-bolt kit. The 10-bolt kit, # RP30035, is much more secure. Each rail has 5 bolts on the 10 bolt kit. If...

The HydraStar actuators do not come with a breakaway kit and they do not have an integrated battery charger. The Tekonsha breakaway kit that I referenced comes with a Premium Integrated Charger, so you will not need to worry about picking up a separate charger. If you already have a breakaway kit with...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for a 2008 Ford F-250 Short Bed
  • The biggest differences between Husky 16K hitch # HT31326-31196 and Curt hitch # C16521 are the slider base, jaws, and head. The Husky slider base has a lot of moving parts. It is unlike anything else I have seen. I have used it and find it to be a bit complicated which is not a benefit if you find yourself stranded on the side of the road. The Husky slider base also can only travel 10 inches compared to the simpler Curt design with 12 inches of travel. More travel means more clearance...

The # 3035-P is compatible with your truck. One end of the adapter would plug into the rear of the controller, the other into the grey connector under the dash. Since your truck has a short bed you would need a slider hitch like this one to give you the needed clearance to make sharp turns. These hitches have a great reputation because they are well made here in the USA and provide a quiet, smooth towing experience due to the excellent...

Using an air bag system will allow you to adjust the stiffness of the suspension according to the weight of the load being carried. • When I hear the term standard bed, I think of a long bed (8 foot bed). If you do have a long bed on your 2011 Ford F-250 then you would not need a slider hitch. It would be an extra expense that isn't necessary for a long bed truck. But for a short bed, 6-3/4 foot for the 2011 Ford F-250, a slider would be the way to go. If you do anticipate a heavier trailer in the future then going with a hitch that has a higher capacity than what would be needed for your current trailer would...
