  • Wire length: 48"
  • Wire gauge: 16

The 5-way flat connector is found on most newer boat trailers that have hydraulic brakes. The fifth wire in this model ties into the reverse lights on your vehicle so that a signal can be sent to your hydraulic brake actuator to disengage whenever the tow vehicle is put into reverse. To use this function, your actuator must have an electric reverse lockout with solenoid.

The 5-way design will also work with small utility trailers that have electric brakes. For this type of application, the fifth wire will need to be wired to correspond with your in-cab, electric brake controller.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Running Lights Not Working, Turn Signals and Brake Lights Do Work
  • The white wire is probably the ground wire and it needs to be connected to a clean, corrosion free bare metal surface on the trailer frame. Without a good ground, some or all of the trailer lights will not work or work properly. You can also check the grounds for each tail light. Trailer tail lights usually ground through the mounting studs and they, too, will need to be attached to a clean corrosion free bare metal surface. There is not always a universal wiring color code that everyone f

  • On a Trailer Towed by 2008 Honda Ridgeline Trailer has Running Lights but No Turn or Brake Lights
  • If your 2008 Honda Ridgeline has a factory trailer wiring harness, check the owners manual for any fuses and relays related to the tow package wiring that may need to be replaced. If everything checks out or if you have an aftermarket wiring harness like # 118400 then use a circuit tester like # 3808 if needed to test the pins on the connector. If the pins on the connector do not show the proper signals then you know there is a wiring issue with the Ridgeline wiring that needs to be addresse

  • Locating Reverse Light Circuit on 2001 Dodge Ram 1500
  • I do not have any information that is specific to your 2001 Ram, but I can certainly help you through the process. The easiest way to do this is to access the rear of one of your tail light assemblies, as if you were replacing a burned out bulb. Once you look at the rear of the assembly, it should be immediately evident which wire feeds the reverse light (clear bulb). You would tap the wire with the blue stripe into that circuit, using a butt connector like part # DW05714. Be sure to wrap you

  • Installing 5-Way Trailer Connector on 2011 Ford Explorer to Control Reverse Lockout on Boat Trailer
  • If you already have a trailer wiring harness and 4 to 5-Way adapter like # 20036 then the easiest way to get to the reverse light circuit is to gain access to the wiring behind the reverse lights. This can be difficult if the reverse lights are on the hatch. If they are then they also have to run out from the hatch and into the body at some point, most likely near the top where the hatch hinges. If you keep following it you should be able to find a good place to tap into the reverse light circui
