Yakima SuperJoe Pro QuickTrigger hub system adjusts rack feet

A QuickTrigger hub system takes the strain and frustration out of fitting the rack to your vehicle. Just turn the dials to adjust the padded rack feet, and they conform to the contours of your vehicle, providing solid footing for the rack.

The SuperJoe Pro attaches to your vehicle with a built-in, six-strap system. The strap buckles are labeled to make setup a snap, and the hooks ensure that the bike rack is properly anchored to your vehicle.

Yakima SuperJoe Pro anti-sway cradles

The bike rack includes StableCradle anti-sway cradles that hold your bikes securely in place with rubber straps. The cradles prevent the bikes from rocking back and forth during transport and also help keep them from hitting your vehicle.

The narrowly spaced arms of the bike rack are perfect for loading bikes of varying shapes and sizes.

Yakima SuperJoe Pro glass hatch hooks

SuperJoe Pro comes with glass hatch hooks for installing the unit on vehicles with glass hatchbacks or gate mounts and on other hard-to-fit vehicles. These anchors replace the standard strap-and-hook assemblies on your bike rack and mount through the hatch opening of your vehicle.

Video Transcript for Yakima SuperJoe Pro Trunk Bike Rack Review

All right, today we're going to review part number Y02630 from Yakima, the SuperJoe Pro 3. We'll go ahead and start off our review by covering all the features that are on the bike rack. The first feature we'll point out are the cradles. Now in this bike rack, it will carry three bikes and each set of cradles has an anti-sway cradle. This is the strap for a top tube of the bicycle and this is the strap for the anti-sway part of the cradle. Now, the anti-sway part can move back and forth to come in different types and styles of the bikes.

That's the side with the anti-sway cradle. Now, the other side is the same cradle except minus D anti-sway part. The bottom of the cradle has a smooth surface. All right, next feature we'll show you how a bicycle rack adapts itself to different vehicles. We'll pull out on the gray knobs on the side and turn them just a bit to unlock them.

Therefore, we can adjust the bicycle rack to the type of car we're working with. Always refer to instructions for a right distance needed for your particular vehicle. We'll demonstrate that next. Our instructions call off for a distance of 16 inches. That is measured between the two rivets on the bicycle, located here and here.

Next feature will be the straps themselves and you can see how they're labeled for a location as they go, the top which would go over the trunk, the side which goes to the side of the trunk, and the bottom that will go to the edge by the bumper. We're looking at the driver's side as identical on the passenger's side. And for your excellent strengths of the straps, the straps also have a loop in there to help bundle up the extra strap when everything is tied down. All right, last thing we'll take a look at will be the padding on the bike rack that connects to the car. You will see there's a generous amount of surface area for the padding to attach to the car.

Now, one thing you want to note is that it is a soft material, yet you want to keep these pads clean when you attach it to your car, and likewise, you want to keep the attachment points on your car clean as well to keep from dirt, from getting in between the pads and the paint and scratching up your paint. Okay, at this point, we can go ahead and attach it to our car. We'll put it in place onto the trunk and then we'll go ahead and run the top straps to the edge of the trunk. Then we'll connect our side straps and then our bottom straps. We'll go ahead and pull the straps tight and we'll check to make sure it's secure. Okay, with the bicycle rack secured to the car, we can go ahead and bundle up the straps and get ready to load up the bike. When we load up our bike, we'll make sure that the straps are out of the way for the cradles we're going to use and that the anti-sway part of the cradle is moved towards the center. It helps loading up the bikes a little bit easier. All right, we'll take the bike. We'll balance it out on the cradles then we'll swing the anti-sway part of the cradle back down to the seat tube of the bike. We'll strap it in place and then we'll run the remaining tube straps over the top tube of the bike and secure them as well. With the bike loaded up, we can go ahead and attach two of our accessory straps. The short strap is used between the wheel and the frame of the bike to keep the handle bars straight. The longer strap is designed to run through the frame of the bike rack and the frame of the bikes to act as an additional safety strap. One of the other accessories that comes with this bicycle rack is it has a glass hatch adapter. For vehicles with a glass hatch, this will fit between the glass and the bodywork of the vehicle. Now, our vehicle doesnt have a glass hatch, but we can still demonstrate how it works. We'll take it and drop it behind the trunk hatch, lower on the inside. Make sure it's all the way on the in then well go ahead and shut the hatch and pull it tight. This way, you can use this instead of hooks that come with the bicycle rack that are already installed. And with that, that will finish it for our review of part number Y02630, the SuperJoe Pro 3.

Product was good, but when I went to mount my wife's bike on it I realized it wouldn't fit. I call Yakima Product Suport, and they explained to my I needed an adapter bar for female bikes. I did not know this, but I orded an adapter today from your site. Hopefully there isn't anything else I forgot....51292

  • Compatability of theYakima Super Joe Pro 3 Bike Trunk Mounted Rack with the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse
  • Neither Yakima nor Thule make a trunk mounted bike rack that is compatible with your Eclipse. The best option for carrying bikes with your Eclipse is a receiver hitch and hitch mounted bike rack used in conjunction with a roof mounted bike rack. The Draw-Tite Class I Sportframe Trailer Hitch, item # 24712, and the Thule Vertex 2 Bike Rack, item # TH9028, would make a good combination. Any rack used in a Class I receiver will be limited to carrying two bikes. Any additional bikes would place t

  • Trunk Mounted 3 Bike Rack for a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero with a Rear Spoiler
  • Yakima has done a test fit of one of their trunk mount bike racks on an Oldsmobile Alero with a rear spoiler, but it was not the SuperJoe Pro 3, # Y02630. Instead, they have tested the KingJoe 3, # Y02620, and it is a fit. I have included a link to the installation details for you to view. If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across from handle bars to seat post, I recommend using the Yakima Tube Top, # Y02531, in order to keep the bikes level.

  • Yakima SuperJoe Pro 3 Bike Rack # Y02630 for 2005 Toyota Matrix
  • Given your budget, I would suggest a trunk/hatch mounted bike rack. The Yakima SuperJoe Pro, part # Y02630 would be ideal for your needs. The SuperJoe Pro features padded anti-sway cradles to keep the bikes securely in place. It is also one of the more attractive options that we offer. The arms on the SuperJoe Pro are 12-3/4 inches apart, so as long as the top tubes on the bikes you are wanting to use are at least that long, this rack would be a good choice for you. For womens bikes or bikes

  • Will the Yakima SuperJoe 3 Bike Rack Fit on a 2008 Honda Pilot and a 2005 Subaru Legacy Sedan
  • Yakima does list the SuperJoe Pro 3 bike rack, # Y02630, for your 2005 Legacy Sedan, but at this time we do not have a trunk mount bike rack option for the 2008 Honda Pilot. And on the Subaru, you have to use the glass hook adapter so you would be limited to just 2 bikes even though the rack can hold 3. In your case I would recommend trailer hitches and a trailer hitch mounted bike rack for several reasons. First, access to the back of your vehicles will be much better with a hitch mount rack

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan and Klein Mantra Bike
  • None of the hanging style trunk mount bike racks are going to work with the standard straps and the tall frame on your Klein Mantra bike. You could possibly find your own straps but extra long replacements are not available. The best option is to go with a trailer hitch, # 24710, and a hitch mount bike rack compatible with a Class I trailer hitch # S64670. I have included some informational links on the hitch and bike rack for you.

Specifically, the note says Requires use of Yakimas Glass Hatch Hook accessory in place of the upper strap hooks. One set of the Glass Hatch Hooks is included with each Yakima Trunk Carrier. Limited to 2 bikes maximum. You will need a second set for the lower straps, use # Y02612. So basically, the way that the SuperJoe Pro, # Y02630, it re

  • Trunk Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for 3 Bikes on a 2003 Toyota 4Runner
  • We do have several 3 bike trunk mount bike racks that will fit a 2003 Toyota 4Runner and I have included a link to them for you. If you want one that is the easiest to install and remove that would be the Thule Raceway 3, # TH9002. This bike rack uses 4 retractable cables rather than 6 straps like other racks. As a result, the rack is the quickest and easiest to install of all the trunk mount racks I have seen. It also has a clean installed look because there are no straps to flap in the wind

  • A lot depends on what the factory 7-Way wiring is being used for. You may not want to tap into it if it is used for critical functions that might overload the circuitry in the event both are used at the same time. What I recommend is what you have suggested and adding a 4-Way to the tail lights, # 118344, provided the tail lights are the same on your cutaway as the regular E series van. If they are different then I recommend a powered converter, # 119146 and wiring kit # 118151. This will ge

  • Bike Rack Options for a 2006 Scion tC
  • I checked with Yakima and they confirm that the Yakima SuperJoe Pro 3 Bike Rack # Y02630 will fit as a trunk mounted bike rack for your 2006 Scion tC. As long as you do not overload the rack you should be fine. I did find a thread on the internet where someone with a 2007 tC had a problem while using trunk mounted bike rack. It was a different brand and without knowing if the rack was overloaded or misused it would be hard to say if you would have the same problem. Most likely you would not,
