Factory spoilers are always a potential hurdle when you are searching for a trunk-mounted bike rack. The Thule Archway is designed to clear that hurdle with long, arcing body tubes and a patented FitDial mounting system that ensures easy and irritation-free installation on your specific Toyota Prius c.

FitDial System

Thule Archway FitDial system

The patented FitDial system lets you easily adjust the rack body. Simply press the levers on the base and move the rack so that the arrows line up with the correct number on the dial. These numbers are specified in the instructions included with the rack. Just find your Toyota Prius c, identify the correct number, and dial away.

Hold Fast Cradles with RDT

Thule Archway Hold Fast cradles

Unique to Thule trunk-mounted racks, the Archway also includes premium Hold Fast anti-sway cradles with Road Dampening Technology (RDT), designed for use with carbon-frame bikes. RDT is composed of 2 layers. The inner layers of the cradles are made of soft "fingers" that flex to absorb large shocks and jolts from the road. The second, upper layer is composed of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), a gel-like substance that gently but firmly cups your bike frame and enables the cradles to both absorb road shock and reduce vibration for a smoother ride. The cradles also include No-Sway Cages that provide a third contact point for the bike, preventing sway and bike-to-bike contact. The cages also have TPE bumpers that protect your bike frames from scratches.

Independently Adjustable Arms

The Archway has narrowly spaced arms that make loading and unloading bikes hassle free. These arms are independently adjustable with the built-in Cinch Levers. All you have to do is flip the lever up, rotate the arm to the desired position, then flip the lever down to lock the arm in place. This enables you to carry bikes with unique frames, and it helps to keep your bikes level on the rack. An adapter bar may be required, however, for some women's, children's, and alternative bike frames. These levers also allow you to fold down the arms when the rack is not in use and to fold the rack flat for storage when it's not mounted on your Toyota Prius c.

Anchor Straps

While the FitDial system ensures that the body of the rack is correctly spaced on your Toyota Prius c, it is the 6 nylon straps that keep the rack anchored in place. Padded hooks on these extra-strong straps prevent scratches on your Toyota Prius c, and the straps tighten in place with easy-to-use, backpack-style cinches. Holders with hook-and-loop tabs are included to bind up the excess strap length when the rack is mounted. Simply wrap the holders around the straps to help protect your Toyota Prius c from flapping straps.

Security Cables

Thule Archway locking cable

The Archway includes an integrated cable lock to secure your bikes to the rack. The lock includes a Thule One Key cylinder so that you can make all your Thule products keyed alike. A trunk strap also is included for passive security. This steel-reinforced cable threads around the rack and through the trunk, securing the rack to your Toyota Prius c when the trunk lid is closed and locked.

Molded Rubber Pads

Thule Archway molded pads

The Archway includes oversize, molded rubber pads on the body to ensure that your Toyota Prius c is protected at all contact points with the rack. These pads prevent the rack from scratching and abrading your Toyota Prius c's paint.

Thule Archway 3 Bike Rack Review

Video Transcript for Thule Archway 3 Bike Rack Review

Today we're go we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Archway Trunk-Mounted Three-Bike Rack, Part Number TH9010XT. The Thule Archway has many great features. The Thule Archway has a special patented fit dial system that is designed to fit a wide variety of vehicles. It has a quick clenching system here with these gray levers on the left and right hand side of the carrier. This will allow you to quickly and conveniently bring the cradle arms out for bike loading and swing them back in for compact storage. To lock them in place, tighten this down and pull it in and as you can see here, this will clench the two pieces together. The cradle arms on the Thule Archway also move independently. This makes it easier to carry oddly-shaped frames and womens bike frames, which means even though the bike has a slanted frame, you will not need to use an adapter bar. The cradles on the Thule Archway feature RDT technology, which is Road Dampening Technology. What this does is it helps to reduce vibrations while you're traveling down the road, helping to protect your bike frame. As you can see here, on the underside of the cradle it's nice and soft for your bike frame. These grooves, here on the inside of the cradles, help to protect your brake lines from being damaged. The Thule Archway comes with an integrated cable lock, lock cords and keys that secure your bike to your bike rack. The lock cords can be swapped out to make all your Thule accessories keyed alike. What you will do, swing the cable lock out, bring it around your bike and hook it back into the top, like so. Not only does the Thule Archway have a built-in cable lock to secure your bike to the rack, but it also comes with its unique passive security strap to secure the bike rack to the vehicle. So what you would do is you would wrap this end around the top of the bike rack, feed this end through here and this end would dangle on the inside of your rear hatch. This would clinch against the rail. This would prevent them from taking it off.To help protect your vehicle's finish, there are foam pads on the bottom and the top part of the bike rack and all of the hooks are coated in a rubber paint. Its sturdy steel construction is durable and rust resistant. It has a carrying capacity of three bikes with a weight capacity of 105 pounds and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Now that we've gone over some of the special features of the Thule Archway, we'll go ahead and show you how to install it. To begin our installation, we'll first need to refer to the Thule Fit Guide or the included instructions to determine what number our fit dial should be at.Now the vehicle that we're using for today's demonstration requires fit dial number 11.We'll push in this gray lever on both sides of the carrier and swing them out until it rests on our number. You'll hear the lever click in place when you know it has been engaged correctly. Now with our fit dial set, we'll go ahead and place the bike rack up onto the vehicles rear hatch. The bike rack in position, we'll go ahead and take the top straps and hook it to the top part of the hatch. Now with our first hook in place, I'm going to tighten up this strap just a little bit.

It's going to help us hold the bike rack while we position the other straps. And I'll just go ahead and repeat the same process for the other strap. Just double checking to make sure the bike rack is centered and that there's no twists in our straps, then we'll tighten them up just a little big again and then move to the side straps as well as the bottom straps. The side straps are black and the bottom straps are gray. We'll hook the side straps to the side of the hatch, tighten up the slack by pulling the end here through the plastic buckle, pulling this up and again the gray hook is for the bottom. Now at times you may need to open the rear hatch to get the bottom clip in position. Now you want to tighten everything a little bit loosely until you get everything in position, then you can go ahead and snug everything down. So with the side and bottom strap done on the left-hand side, we'll go ahead and repeat this same process for the other side. Now with the bottom clips in place, I'm going to make sure that my rear hatch is closed. Now with all the straps in place, we're going to go ahead and further secure our straps. This is to make sure that our bike rack is fully secured to the vehicle. We'll go ahead and pull a little bit at the side, a little bit at the top. Now with everything tightened, you can see that the rack is pretty snug to the rear hatch. Now with everything all tightened down, we'll go ahead and use the included hook and loop straps to secure the excess slack. With that done we'll go ahead and repeat the same process for all the other straps. Now that we've gone over some of the special features of the Thule Archway and shown you how to install it, we'll go ahead and load up some bikes.

To load up a bike, we'll first start off by undoing our rubber cradle straps. We'll then go ahead and bring our bike frame and place it into our frame cradles. We'll start here with the anti-sway cradle which is going to help the bike from rocking back and forth while you're traveling down the road.Bring the strap around and secure it, finishing off with the other two straps. We'll then just repeat the same process for our other bike. Now with both our bikes all loaded up, we'll go ahead and take it out for a test drive to show how it looks driving down the road. And that will complete today's review of the Thule Archway Trunk-Mounted Three-Bike Rack, Part No. TH9010XT. .

I finally put the bike carrier to use today. I'm not the most mechanically inclined person so it took me a bit of time with some of the instructions, but once I put the bike on the carrier my one mistake was apparent and everything else was fine. The carrier does a great job of keeping the bike steady and secure. Good product.89608

  • Trunk Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2004 Nissan Murano and 2006 Infiniti M35
  • Both the Thule Passage, TH911XT, and Archway, # TH9010XT, are good choices, there are 3 main differences between the two racks. First, the Archway has a covered cable that secures the rack in the trunk when installed. Second the Archway rack has an integrated locking cable to secure the bikes to the rack. And finally, the Archway has longer arcing tubes to help with fit on vehicles with OEM rear mounted spoilers. The installation procedure for each of these racks is basically the same, one no

This bike rack will fit on your 2012 Kia Optima and gives extra room underneath to accommodate for a factory spoiler. • Trunk and Hitch Mounted Bike Rack Options for a 2011 Dodge Caliber
  • The Thule Archway 3 Bike Rack, # TH9010, will fit on your 2011 Dodge Caliber as long as it is not the SRT4 model with the rear spoiler. The clips will attach to the top and bottom of the rear hatch and a spoiler cannot support the weight of a trunk mounted bike carrier. If you have a rear spoiler, then I would recommend a hitch like our Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch, # 60832, and one of our most popular hitch mounted bike racks the Thule Helium Aero 2 Bike Rack, # TH9042. • Fit of Trunk Mounted Bike Rack on 2005 Saab 9-2X with OEM Spoiler On Hatch
  • Typically, we do not recommend using a trunk mount rack on a vehicle with a spoiler on the top of the hatch unless it is a floating spoiler that would allow the strap/hook to pass underneath it. However, I spoke with one of the product fit folks at Thule who tell me that the spoiler on your particular vehicle is indeed robust enough that you can safely pass the top rack straps over it without causing any harm. The Thule Archway should work very well for you, but I would also recommend taki

  • Fit of Thule Passage Trunk Mount Bike Rack # TH910XT on 2013 Toyota Prius
  • According to my contact at Thule, their Passage 2 and 3-Bike Trunk Mount Bike Rack # TH910XT and # TH911XT are both a confirmed fit for the 2013 Toyota Prius. This has been determined after extensive fit testing. This being said, anytime a piece of equipment is in direct contact with the painted surfaces of a vehicle, the possibility of the vehicle being scratched exists. This risk can be minimized by ensuring that the surfaces of the rack and vehicle that touch each other are 100 percent cle

This bike rack uses six straps that will hook to the top, side and bottom edges of your rear hatch to secure the bike rack. Keep in mind, the rear wiper cannot be used when this bike rack is mounted. • Can the Rear Hatch on a BMW X5 be Opened with a Trunk Mount Bike Rack Installed
  • It is not recommended to open a rear hatch or trunk of any vehicle with a bike rack mounted to the trunk. The hinges of a rear hatch or trunk were not designed to support additional weight and could fail under the weight of a bike rack. Also, due to the way trunk mount bike racks attach to the vehicle, the side straps could fall off or slip once the trunk is open. The hooks of the straps could also bind up and damage the edges of your rear hatch. If you can send me the year of your BMW X5 I
