All hail KingJoe 2! This premium, trunk mounted two-bike carrier from Yakima features quick installation, sturdy construction , padding for your Nissan Xterra and easy-to-use arms that distinguish the KingJoe 2 as royalty in the bike carrier kingdom.

KingJoe 2 installs easily with quick-trigger hubs that lock the base in place and a six-strap system to secure the carrier firmly to the Nissan Xterra. With a pull and quarter-turn, the hubs are released and the rack can easily be opened or closed to match your Nissan Xterra shape. As you turn the knob back, it snaps into place and locks the rack in its current position.

The feet and strap buckles are all covered by premium padding that spares your Nissan Xterra's paint job from scratches during transport. The soft padding on the carrier feet helps prevent dents from mounting the rack.

The same style of quick-trigger hubs that control the fit of the base are used to fold the dual arms of the KingJoe down for effortless storage. The narrow design of the arms also allows you to mount a wide variety of bike styles while reducing the need to bike adapter bars.

The arms also include integrated, anti-sway (StableCradle) cradles that hold your bikes in place, preventing front to back rocking, and helping to keep the bikes off your Nissan Xterra.

The KingJoe boasts a wide variety of fits, extending to minivans and hatchbacks. The carrier comes with glass hatch hooks for mounting on glass trunks, gate mounts and on other hard-to-fit Nissan Xterras.
KingJoe is constructed from sturdy bomber steel and comes backed by a lifetime warranty.

Today we are going to show you part number Y02619 from Yakima. This is their KingJoe 2, two-bike, trunk-mount bicycle rack. It does strap onto the rear of your car and uses six straps to do so. It actually grabs it from the top edge of the trunk lid, the bottom edge of the trunk lid - or, in some cases, around toward underneath the bottom edge of the bumper - the side of the trunk lid itself, usually typically around the tail lights. Now, we are going to show this on a car, but this rack can also be used on SUVs and minivans. The way this adjusts is that this arm here and this arm here pivot from each other if you pull this knob out to the side like that. And the one on the opposite side you can you make it wider for like flat vehicles like on a van or like we had it for a car trunk application. And when you find a position you like, you can just go ahead and put the knob back and give it a little bit of a nudge and it will snap back in position. And the same thing applies for the arms that carry the bikes. Again, pull out the same knob on the interior. Pull it out and give it a little bit of a twist, and you can move it as needed. And when you find a position you like, again, just put the knobs back in. Sometimes you rock it to help it snap in, too, if it does not snap in right off the bat. Let us go ahead and install it on our Dodge Neon here.
And this rack has nice, soft pads to fit on your vehicle so it does not mar up the finish. And it also spreads the load of the bicycle rack over a greater surface area, too. And it does not matter - you can flip these around whichever way is closest to making them fit. And again, you can see we have it reaching - hitting the top of the trunk and also on the bottom edge of the bumper here. Some models, you may have to have it sit up on the trunk itself, but in this case it will sit up on the bumper edge. And also, if you have a spoiler, it will actually wrap around the spoiler if it was sitting right here. OK, we will go ahead and do the top straps, which will hit the top edge of the trunk lid. Now, these hooks do slide on the edge of the trunk. If you had a different model or had a glass hatch, then there is a separate type of attachment that is provided with the rack. And we are just going to leave the hooks just to hold it in place temporarily. And to cinch them down you just pull on the cam buckle right here, just to take up the slack.
And at this point you can actually make some adjustments to your bar right here if you want to try to get them a little more level. And we will work on our side straps, and they will catch on the edge of the trunk. And on this model here, we are going to catch underneath the edge of the lid here. And at this point, you want to go ahead and center the rack on your vehicle. Once you have it centered, then you can go ahead and start tying down your straps, working from the top and then go up to the sides. And there are these nice, easy-to-use cam buckles right here, and they are padded, too, so it does bounce off your car. You do not have to worry about it. And these strap holders here? And there is also a nice little touch that these have these little, rubber strap holders here, so any excess length you have you can just wind up and just put it in the little holder here, and it will not be flapping in the breeze.
All right, next we will talk about the cradles. You will notice there are four points of contact for the strap to catch onto. So, depending on the type of bike you have, and what is in the way, you can easily negotiate around most obstacles. To hook them up, it is pretty simple. You will notice there are like three points on here. You take one half, cover the side, and then it easily snaps around. The other half works just the same way but also has a built-in anti-sway cradle. And this goes down to the downtube of your bicycle, or the seat post tube, whichever works out better. And this keeps the bike from moving front to rear. And again, you have a strap that wraps around the bike on the downtube or seat post. And this is the part that goes over your top tube, here. Let us go ahead and install a bike and give you a better idea of how it works.
We will unstrap them and get those out of the way. And we will take our anti-sway cradle and fold it up, and it will be easier to slide the bike on. All right, we will slide our bike on. Bring your anti-sway cradle over, put your strap around, and you are set there. And on the top tube, pull that down, and you are there. And on the other half, and that is it. And also on the bike that is closest to the vehicle, it also has this handy strap here, to keep the wheel from spinning around and hitting the vehicle. It is a simple buckle. And that covers it for part number Y02619 from Yakima, the KingJoe 2, two-bike, trunk-mount rack.

Overall this is a good bike rack. I have a 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT and was concerned about pressure on the spoiler. The pressure was minimal and I had no problems with carrying my bike on it. I have an aluminum frame K2 Red Zone triathlon bike that weighs less than mountain bikes, for instance, so I have not tested it with heavier weight. I drove with my bike on the rack from northern Virginia to Wilmington, NC for the B2B Half, a five hour one-way trip, and back. Again, no problems. Just be sure to stabilize the front wheel if you set the bike on the outer setting, otherwise it swings around. The only drawback is that the arms were too wide to carry my friend's new Trek Speed Concept tri bike. So, be sure to check if your bike will fit on this rack before getting it. Customer service, delivery, and price were excellent. Set up was easy.28861

First, ordering through etrailer was very easy and quick. They send out email notifications all throughout the process or ordering, shipping and delivery. The delivery across the country, from PA to CA, took less than a week. Now, about the product. King Joe 2 is a great for the money, and it's the most ideal method of transporting your bikes. The set up was relatively easy, but it took a little figuring out as the pictures/directions in the manual aren't the best. I mounted 2 mountain bikes, and transported them about 5 miles round trip. They held the bikes well, and felt secure enough. Although the mounting clips and the rubber padding seem safe on the paint, in the future, I think I'll place an extra layer of protection by putting a micro-fiber towel between the car and the rubber padding, and painters tape where the clips will attach to the car. I was concerned with the bicycle pedal bumping and scratching the car bumper, so I placed old thick padded socks on the pedals. And you have to make sure you bungee cord (or tie with a rope) the front and rear tires to ensure the pedals don't spin during transportation. You also should stabilize the handle bar, so they don't move around. So the prep work takes some effort to do well, but like I said, for the money you pay, it's work well. The most ideal, quickest and safest method would be to install a hitch, but it'll cost more and you may have to drill holes into your trunk. I have a 06 Acura TL, and I didn't want to do that. So if you don't transport your bikes too often, or for too long of a distance, then King Joe 2 should meet your needs. The build quality is great and very solid. 12296
