The contemporary, low-profile design; silver paint finish; and folding arms are just a few reasons why the Yakima KingJoe Pro is an exceptional trunk-mounted bike carrier for owners of sedans, hatchbacks, minivans and SUVs.

Yakima KingJoe Pro QuickTrigger hub adjusts feet

A QuickTrigger hub system takes the strain and frustration out of fitting the rack to your Ford Excursion. Just turn the dials to adjust the padded rack feet, and they conform to the contours of your Ford Excursion, providing solid footing for the rack.

The KingJoe Pro attaches to your Ford Excursion with a built-in, six-strap system. The straps' coated hooks are labeled to make setup a snap, and the hooks ensure that the bike rack is properly anchored to your Ford Excursion.

Yakima KingJoe Pro red tab operates folding arms

The narrowly spaced arms of the bike rack help with loading bikes of varying shapes and sizes. The arms fold down for storage when you depress a red tab mounted on the inside of each arm. Because the arms adjust independently of the rack base, you can ensure that your bikes will have a level and stable ride no matter what Ford Excursion the rack is mounted on.

Yakima KingJoe Pro anti-sway cradles

The bike rack also includes StableCradle anti-sway cradles that hold your bikes securely in place with rubber straps. The cradles prevent the bikes from rocking back and forth during transport and also help keep them from hitting your Ford Excursion.

Yakima KingJoe Pro glass hatch hooks

KingJoe Pro comes with glass hatch hooks for installing the unit on Ford Excursions with glass hatchbacks or gate mounts and on other hard-to-fit Ford Excursions. These anchors replace the standard strap-and-hook assemblies on your bike rack and mount through the hatch opening of your Ford Excursion.

Video Transcript for Yakima KingJoe Pro Trunk Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Escape

Today on our 2013 Ford Escape well be test fitting the Yakima King Joe Pro II trunk mounted carrier, part number Y02624. To begin our test fit well set the carrier onto the vehicle with the bottom pad just below the license plate. Well put the top hooks to the top part of the cargo door, the side hooks to the side part of the cargo door, and the bottom hook to the bottom part of the cargo door. We can then tighten down the straps to secure the carrier to the vehicle. We will then use Yakimas included strap loop to secure the excess strap. Now with the carrier secured to the vehicle were ready to load our bike.

With the two red levers on the inside of the carrier well flip them out to raise our cradle arms. Note that the cradle arms should be level or slightly angled up. Well then push back in the red levers to secure the arms in place, undo the cradle straps. Well set the bike into the frame cradles and secure with the straps. That completes todays test fit for the Yakima King Joe Pro II trunk mounted carrier, part number Y02624 on our 2013 Ford Escape..

We became serious bicyclists last year when we pedaled over a 1,000 miles, mostly local. This year we wanted to do weekend getaways to experience different trails which required driving to and from each location. I went to shops in our area/scoured the Internet, but could not find a bike rack that would accommodate our 2005 Toyota Celica GT, so to load them into the car we had to dismantle the seats and front wheels, then do a lot of finagling to get them both to fit inside the hatchback’s trunk area. It was time-consuming and frustrating, with the bikes and the car getting scratched up in  the process and then fighting to get the wheels balanced on their forks without rubbing on the brake pads once we got them back out. The last straw was last weekend when we took them to the Ozarks—the car was loaded with bikes, bike parts, luggage, clothes and was a huge mess. Never again without a rack.   The day we returned home, I luckily found your Website. I called and one of your representatives who suggested buying the Kakima KingJoe Pro. The rack was delivered very quickly—one day—and came out of the box already assembled. Now for the real test—would it fit the sloped glassed back and around the spoiler of the Celica GT when others would not? YES!  Six straps secured the rack very nicely, with fitted rubber pads that protected the glass hatchback and the metal trunk. My husband is  “mechanically-challenged” so we took it to our mechanic and bike shop and they all agreed that the rack seemed safe and secure. The sweetest part is that we can place the bikes on the fitted frame-holders,  strap them down and go without a big hassle.   We are anticipating many nice biking adventures away from home this summer and are grateful to eTrailer for making it possible without a lot of unnecessary fuss and stress. Thanks!!  37112

The service from etrailer is fantastic! The KingJoe bike rack was delivered FAST! Put it on my Mustang and it fit great. Took a while the first time, but now that I've done it, I can put it on & off the car in under a minute. The one area that Yakima could improve on is the rubber straps that hold the bike on are a pain in the butt to get hooked into the holes. I am hoping they stretch after a few uses, otherwise a great product! 84302

Easy to setup and configure specific to my car. Excellent instructions specific to my car. I've used this style bike rack in the past and that one doesn't even compare to this. The Yakima KingJoe Pro 2 is extremely sturdy and smart. Excellent stability. Thank you! Looking forward to many more trips.79144

DIrections were easy to understand. The product was easy to install. Had a little difficulty with attaching the bike due to getting the rubber straps to hook. All in all great product and great service. I have included a pic of it on our HHR.74606

I ordered a Yakima KingJoe Pro 2 Bike Rack. The product arrived on time and was exactly as described. Shipping was free and the price was cheaper than local "outdoor stores". I have test-mounted it on my Scion Xb and look forward to better weather when I can take my bike and my girlfriends to the mountains, beaches or local greenways to ride. Very happy with my purchase.61914

This is a very well made, sturdy bike rack! I needed something that worked on a hatchback, which this does. I was impressed that the distance needed to set the arms in advance is listed for every car model that this rack fits! The instructions were also car specific as to where to best attach straps and where to place the bottom of the back. This was incredibly helpful. My one trip so far with the bike went very smoothly. Problems I had: 1) For the car straps to fit all cars, they are very, very long. The first time I put the rack on, there was too much strap to work with and it took forever -- especially since I was also balancing the bike on the back of the hatchback at the same time. However, after the first ride I trimmed the straps and seared the ends to make them more manageable. 2) The straps have nothing to keep them from pulling all the way through the buckle, in which case you have to rethread the buckle (while you are balancing the rack). After I trimmed the ends, I put metal bull dog paper fasteners on them so they won't go through the buckle. I will look for something that is plastic for long term use though. 3. Because of the design of the buckle, I felt that I had trouble pulling the car straps as tightly as I would like. One has to maintain pressure on a lever inside the buckle with a finger, and the finger seems to get in the way of really tightening the strap. Perhaps I just have to work with this for awhile. 4, And finally, the reason I am not giving this rack a 5 star rating is because I found the rubbery anti-sway straps impossible to use. They are too thick, the holes in them are too small, and the knobs to put the holes over are too big. In addition to not being able to pull these straps tightly enough around the bike to be really secure, I was barely, barely able to get a strap hole over the plastic knob on the cradle before I left. And. . . when I arrived at my destination, I was completely unable to detach the strap from the knob. I eventually had to cut through the straps with a jack knife. I have since removed all of the anti-sway straps and will simply criss-cross the 12 in. Softride straps E-trailer also sells. (Some of the rubbery anti-sway straps had to pulled off knobs rather than cut off, and this was painful as they recoiled and stung my hands.) I did write to Yakima and ask why they put such straps on the bike. They said these straps are for increased security in attaching the bike to the rack. Well, if you have the hands of a gorilla and are 6 feet tall (to get good leverage) these straps will work for you and your bike will be very secure. All this being said, I consider the car strap and anti-sway strap issues to be minor. I will simple keep the Softride velcro straps attached to the bike rack when not in use so they are easy to find when needed. 56842

Just got the rack and like it so far. Solid feel to it. The padding is substantial. Directions for putting it on the car are clear. Easy to put on and take off. As someone mentioned, the rubber straps for attaching the bike to the carrier are stiff and a little difficult to use, but if you push with your thumb with one hand while stretching the rubber with the other, it goes on easier. I'd rather they were stiff than too elastic and able to break. I am using a couple of bungee cords instead of the 2 free straps to attached the lower bike frame to the carrier because the bungees go on and off very easily. Overall, nice looking carrier and easy the use. Also, liked dealing with etrailer.com. Fast shipping and the price was right.50983
