Today, on our 2006 Ford F-250, we are going to be test fitting the Stromberg-Carlson open fifth wheel tailgate, part number VG-97-100.All right, we have already got our tailgate assembled so now we are ready to mount it up on our truck. First we need to remove the factory tailgate. We will lower the tailgate and we will undo the support cables on either side of the tailgate. We will turn the tailgate to about a 45 degree angle so that we can slide the hinge on the passenger side off. To fit up our Stromberg tailgate, again we will hold it at about a 45 degree angle and we will slip the driver side over the hinge post first. As we close the tailgate, we want to pull open the latches, push the tailgate into position and release the latches so they will hold the tailgate in place.
And that, is it for our test fit of the Stromberg-Carlson open fifth wheel tailgate, part number VG-97-100 on a 2006 Ford F-250.

Gate looks and works perfect for my 2000 F350. The only problem I can see is that the rubber gasket that is used for newer model Ford and Dodge trucks had to be modified to keep it from rattling. Otherwise it was great and easy to put on. 11628

Gate fit well. I had to modify the mounting holes for the latches on the new gate to raise them higher rather than lower the catches on my truck. Wasn't a big problem. The gate looks great and I can switch to my origional gate easily.20914

Great tailgate for the price. We needed one that could handle the weight of a person standing on it, something some of the fancier lovered ones can't handle. Tailgate fit on F250 perfectly. Stromberg could do a better job with directions and packaging as some paint had worn off from the cardboard shipping box. The entire tailgate should be wrapped in plastic, not just the ends. There were a few items in the pack I did not seem to have to use and a little beeter on the views in the instructions would help. Also it would be nice if it could be locked somehow. am very pleased with this tailgate....it is a little more light duty than I thought when I saw the picture, but I think it will work nicely...Was easy to install, however, the screws needed to bolt the hinges on were not with the package.....that was no problem, just went to a nuts and bolts place and picked them up....looks really nice on my F35029219
