Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient - 1999 GMC Yukon

11" Wide x 7-1/4" tall x 7/8" deep, efficient heat exchanger will prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance. Specifically designed for GMC Yukons with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions.

Features:

  • Prolongs life of transmission
  • Improves overall performance
  • Prevents heat-related failures
  • Has furnace-brazed aluminum construction and 3/4" wide turbulator plates for more efficient cooling
  • Includes complete mounting kit, OEM spec hose with stainless steel clamps and Insta-dapt radiator adapter
  • Recommended for mid-size cars, trucks and SUVs

Specs:

  • Inlets: 11/32" hose barb
  • Overall dimensions: 11" wide x 7-1/4" tall x 7/8" deep
  • Distance between inlets: 10-1/4"
  • Mounting dimensions: 6-1/8" tall by either 5-1/4" or 6-3/4" wide
  • 1-Year warranty

Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most GMC Yukons with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.

One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

Today we are going to take a look at Derales Series 8000 Plate and Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, part number D13502. Included with the kit in additions to the transmission cooler, youll have your hose attachment kit and your mounting kit. What we are going to go over today is the size of this transmission cooler. We have recommended sizes up on our website, but ultimately you need to measure the vehicle to see if there is enough space to fit the transmission cooler. This cooler measures 11 inches wide by 7 inches tall.

There are mounting holes that you can use to attach to your vehicle on both the top and the bottom of the transmission cooler. You can also use the mounting kit with the zip strings that will attach to your vehicles pre-existing radiator. That does it for Darales Series 8000 Plate and Fin Transmission Cooler, part number D13502.

The cooler arrived intact on my doorstep with all the parts and pieces present, and it took about two hours to install the unit. I needed to fabricate some mounting brackets as I didn't want to use the plastic ties that go through the radiator. I have a 2011 Subaru Outback with a 3.6 motor and a 5 speed automatic. I frequently tow a boat and need to keep the tranny cool, specially during the summer months. The installation is pretty straight forward as per instructions that are included. Each vehicle will be a bit different but a home mechanic should be able to install this cooler fairly easily.6830

Product was just as expcted but I did not care for the mounting so I made my own mount, two bars across the bracket that holds the hood release. This centered the unit near the bottom, for the connections the new hose reached a hose between two steel lines from the outlet of the factory cooler. I bought two 3/8 barbed couplings and 4 more hose clamps I cut the factory hose and series the unit to these hoses a few tyraps to stop chafing and i was done.73520

Cooler came just in time. I installed it in my 2010 Subaru Forester so that I can safely pull my trailer without boiling my transmission. Glad to say I needed no special fittings to get the job done. The cooler looks well made and the size is just right...anything bigger would be a tough fit.36817

So far so good. Just installed the cooler a couple days ago getting ready for a move trailing a full load for 1000mi. Install guide and descriptions are very generic and therefore require a bit forethought and pre-work. Will see how the product will hold up in the long run. Shipping and transactions with etrailer have been excellent once again.81679

Trailer hitch / light kit / transmission cooler Shipping and product description were awesome! Price was better than i found anywhere else. The only problem i had was with my particular model of vehicle (2005 Saturn Vue). Fishing the carriage bolt would not have been possible with out removal of the rear bumper fascia ..... period. Also one of the side mounting bolts completely broke off when i was torquing it down to instruction spec. The instructions said 62 ft lbs. of torque, my wrench was set at exactly that and the bolt broke off right at the head. Im not upset sometimes you just get a bad bolt. Bottom line i would recommend etrailer to anyone. 5216

I received my cooler for my 1989 Olds 88 in record time (e.g. 2 days)! After reading the instructions, I saw that the manufacturer recommends the cooler be installed in series with the cooler integral to the cars radiator. This requied addtional hose (about 3ft.). The local auto parts store carried 5/16" hose (same hose ID but a different mfr than that supplied) but found the auto parts store hose next to impossilbe to place over the cooler header fitting. I was able to install a clamp before the tubing walked itself off. I would recommend taking the cooler to the parts store and fit it up with a hose that fits properly if you need to get extra for installation. I appreciated the video that was available on your website to familiarize myself with the installation before I attempted the project. I have yet to put it to the test with a trailer in tow. Seems to be quality product. The instructions were well written. Thanks!23813

  • Can Parts Be Added To a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country to Increase The Towing Capacity
  • In short, no; adding a transmission cooler and distributing trailer weight does not constitute a tow package. Transmission coolers do not add to the tow capacity of the vehicle. They can reduce wear and tear on transmissions used for towing by keeping heat levels down, but they do not make the transmission capable of pulling more weight. Tow packages often include things like a heavier suspension, integrated hitch, wiring, stronger transmission, stronger/braced frames, and the larger of the a

  • What are Transmission Coolers Made Out Of
  • Transmission coolers are not made out of stainless steel, they are made out of aluminum and copper because the cooler needs to transfer heat away from the transmission fluid and metal as quickly as possible and aluminum and copper are the most efficient metals for this process. Stainless steel tends to hold heat rather than dissipate it quickly as aluminum does. I have attached links to some information on transmission coolers that may be helpful also.

So you will have to measure the three areas mentioned below and then find one that fits in one of those areas. 1) Mount cooler between your vehicles grille and the AC condenser core for the greatest efficiency. 2) Mounting the cooler between the condenser and the radiator still allows for ample airflow, but cuts effectiveness by 25 percent. Installation of a larger cooler unit in this position may help make up for that loss. 3) Mounting the co

The dimensions of the cooler are 11 inches wide, 7-1/4 inches tall and 7/8 thick. A person with average mechanical ability should be able to install a transmission cooler with little difficulty.
