One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

Video Transcript for Derale Transmission Cooler D13611 Review
Today we are going to show you Derale Series 9000 plate-fin transmission cooler, part number D13611. In addition to the transmission cooler, you will also receiver the hose, the mounting kit and the line connection kit. This particular cooler uses NPT thread fittings on the top to help you with your connections. Transmission coolers are universal fit items. They are not vehicle specific. You need to measure your vehicle to see how much room you have to mount the cooler. The cooler should be mounted in front of the radiator and, if possible, in front of the AC condenser. This cooler measures about 10-1/2 inches wide by about 4 inches tall and it is right at 1-1/4 inches thick. Derale covers this cooler with a one-year warranty. That does it for the Series 9000 plate-fin transmission cooler kit, part number D13611.

- I do not see any reason why you would not be able to tow a 1,255 pound boat and trailer with a 2008 Ford Taurus. You should check your vehicle owner manual and make sure that the gross trailer weight and the tongue weight of the boat, loaded and ready to tow, are within the vehicle limits.
We have the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch for the 2008 Taurus by Ford, item # 87108, which has a 3,500 pound weight carrying capacity and would be plenty of hitch to tow the boat you mentioned, as long as the

- Using a transmission cooler on your motorhome when towing a vehicle would definitely help limit the wear and tear on the transmission. The Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13611, is designed for compact cars so I would recommend the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13504, which is designed for larger vehicles.

- Mounting a trans cooler in front of everything else, radiator and AC condenser, will yield the most cooling ability. The size of the heat exchanger is the factor that weighs most heavily on the cooling ability followed by location and construction/design.
The best way to select a cooler is by considering the load you will be towing and the area you will be towing in. The cooler needed to aid in towing a single jet ski in a cool or moderate climate would not be nearly as big as the cooler need

- It would not surprise me if Mitsubushi OEM transmissions had a function that stopped the flow of transmission fluid out of the transmission when the transmission is cold. I do not believe that this option would be installed outside of the transmission, because there would need to be a bypass hose and valves in the transmission output and return lines, causing a complicated installation at the factory.

- Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2003 Acura MDX
- I would suggest the largest plate and fin transmission cooler that will fit on your vehicle to provide the most cooling.Transmission coolers are flow through devices so you can pretty much use any transmission cooler you want as long as it will fit in your vehicle. You cannot cool the transmission fluid too much so there is no worry of installing a cooler that is too large. The only precaution with a very large cooler is to let the engine warm a bit on bitterly cold days before taking off.

First, start engine while engine is cold.
Put the transmission in drive for no more than 10 seconds
Stop engine
Feel the both of the lines, and whichever one is cooler is the return line that is taking the fluid back to the transmission.
