One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

Today we are going to take a look at Derales Series 9000 Plate and Fin Transmission Cooler kit, part number D13614. In addition to the transmission cooler you will also receive a new line, a mounting kit for attaching the transmission cooler to your vehicle, as well as a hose connection kit. Transmission coolers are universal fit items, they are not vehicle specific. To determine whether or not the transmission cooler will fit, youll need to measure the area where you want to mount it. A transmission cooler should be mounted in front of the radiator, and if possible in front of the AC condenser.

To give you an idea of whether or not this will fit, we will give you some measurements. This cooler measures right at 10 1/4 inches wide and measures right at 12 inches tall, it is also about 1 1/4 inches thick. On top of this transmission cooler are 1/2 inch MPT threads to help you make your connections. Derale covers this cooler for the one year warranty, and that does it for part number D13614, Derales Series 9000 Plate and Fin Transmission cooler.

Ask the Experts about this Derale Transmission Coolers

  • Which Transmission Cooler would be Good for a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 used for Snow Plowing
  • With the kinds of load that a plow truck would be pushing, I would recommend using a transmission cooler on the large end, especially since it is a 1/2 ton truck. The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Class V cooler you were looking at would be a good choice. They radiate plenty of heat due to their all aluminum construction. The cooler measures 11 inches wide, 11-3/8 inches tall and 1-1/4 thick. Locate an area in front of your engine radiator that you would like to mount the cooler and make sure

  • Proper Clearance for Derale Series 9000 Transmission Cooler Part # D13614 in 2010 Chevy Impala
  • The Derale Series 9000 Transmission cooler can mount either in font of or behind the radiator. The unit measures 11 inches in length, 11-3/8 tall (including mounting tabs) and 1-1/4 inches thick. As this is not a vehicle-specific product, you will have to examine and measure the areas in front of and behind your radiator to see if the proper clearance exists. The preferred mounting location would be in front of the radiator for maximum air flow. Installing the cooler behind the radiator might

  • Recommendation for Cooling the Coolant and Transmission Fluid Temperature on a 2008 Chevy Avalanche
  • For the radiator coolant temperature, I recommend adding a supplemental fan or fans depending on how much space you have under the hood. There is no limit to the amount of fans you can have. A pusher fan, mounted in front of the radiator pushing air through it, would be the most efficient (provided that the factory fan is mounted on the same side and pushes air through in the same direction). A puller fan would be used on the other side of the radiator to pull air through. The largest electric s

  • Transmission Cooler and Pan Recommendations for Towing with a 2001 Ford Expedition 5.4 Liter
  • For your 2001 Ford Expedition with 5.4 L engine, I would recommend the largest cooler that will fit in front of the AC condenser at the front of the vehicle. The Derale Series 9000 Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13614, would be a good choice. You will also need the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, item # D13025, to complete the installation on your 5.4 Liter Expedition. A larger capacity transmission pan would be a good idea also. If your Expedition has a 4R100 transmission the De

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5.3 Liter Engine
  • While transmission coolers are not vehicle specific and you can use # D13614 if you wanted to, there are some that are recommended for the 2009 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3 liter engine. I have included a link to the available options for you to view. Out of these, I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13504, which is most like the cooler you referenced. It is a class IV cooler rated for up to 12,000 pounds gross trailer weight. You will also need the correct

  • Recommendation of Transmission Cooler For 2002 Ford Expedition 5.4L Towing a Horse Trailer
  • Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, they are universal and we put together some options on our website that are recommended for your 2002 Ford Expedition with 5.4 L engine with other parts that are needed for installation. This does not mean that other transmission coolers can not work, it just gives a guideline for somebody that is shopping for a transmission cooler. Transmission coolers are flow through devices so you can pretty much use any transmission cooler you want as long a

  • Recommendation For Transmission Cooler On a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Towing a 7,000 Lb Trailer
  • Ideally you want to keep the temperature of the transmission fluid in the 160 to 200 degree range. You cannot cool transmission fluid too much. Transmission coolers are universal fit items so you will want to measure the space you have in front of your air conditioning condenser or your radiator to see what size cooler will fit your 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Since you will be towing a 7,000-lb trailer through the mountains with your Silverado I would recommend to use the Derale Serie

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2010 Chevy 1500 Truck
  • The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13614 that you referenced would be a good choice for your 2010 Chevy 1500 truck. This cooler has a GVW rating of 22,500 lbs. You can either bypass the factory cooler altogether, or you can run the coolers one after the other. I would recommend you run the fluid first through the factory cooler and then to the # D13614 and then back to your transmission. This would optimize the cooling of your transmission fluid. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2010 Ford F-150
  • We do have several transmission coolers that use NPT 1/2 inch fittings though the hose size may be different. It is the inner diameter that you would need to know. The 1/2 inch NPT cooler use a 3/8 inch inner diameter hose. Since transmission fluid cannot be over cooled, the largest cooler that will fit in the engine compartment is recommended. In the 1/2 NPT category, the largest we carry is # D13614 that you have referenced. I have included a link to a video review of this cooler and a lin

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler and Locating Transmission Return Line on 2007 Chevy Avalanche
  • The return line is typically the bottom line, but you should confirm by doing the following. Start cold engine, place the transmission in drive for about 10 seconds, then shift back to park and shut motor off. Then, feel the upper and lower transmission lines. One line should be noticeably cooler than the other. The cooler of the two lines would be the return. Since you cannot over cool a transmission, we recommend choosing the largest cooler that will fit into the space available. The

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2005 Nissan Titan Towing a Rockwood Roo 21SS
  • Adding a transmission cooler to your 2005 Nissan Titan is a great idea to improve transmission performance and longevity, especially if you will be towing your Rockwood Roo 21SS trailer. Towing will put additional strain on an engine and transmission and one of the most common causes of transmission failure is overheating. When choosing a transmission cooler, it is best to choose the largest cooler that will fit in the space you have available because transmission fluid cannot be over cooled
