Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Quick, easy and effective.

Appears well constructed and delivered with all parts necessary for installation. Rating base on just that. Have not installed but, when installed and operational I’ll rewrite review.

2001 Honda Odyssey

I installed this cooler on a 2001 odyesseyto help prevent a future trans failure. It was delivered quickly when promised, came with everything I needed for installation and had no problems.Overall a good product I would recommend this to anyone.
I am also very happy with etrailer.coms service and selection and would definitly use them again.

Two cars, two transmissions radiators, very good product from etrailer.com
Thank you !

Subaru Forester

As always, fast delivery, complete products that fit right at the best price anywhere. Everything I needed to turn Mom's Forester into a tow beast (for a pop up camper anyways)!

by:

Great product. Easy to install. Drove cross country and the transmission kept its cool. Even through the mountains in warm weather. No signs of leakage or corrosion after a year.

by:
1996 Chevrolet Astro

I received the trans cooler yesterday afternoon and installed it on my 1996 chevrolet astro this morning in less than an hour, now I can pull my travel trailer with my van.

by:
2008 Honda Pilot

This is an excellent price and appears to have more cooling capacity over the OEM cooler. Installed very easily. This was used on an 08 HONDA PILOT

by:

The product was just what I needed. The description was accurate, the price was great and the shipping was fast.
Thanks

2011 Dodge Dakota

exactly what i needed

This is a great after market to substitute for the original.

by:

quick shipping & grt price

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries!
Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done!
Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!

by:

I put the transmission cooler on a 2006 ram 2500 it keeps it 30° cooler than the OEM transmission cooler

by:

Removing the front bumper/grill on my Odyssey was a must! Installation was pretty much straight forward once you confirm the feed, and return connection points. Mounting the actual cooler to the front radiator was the easiest part of the job. My Odyssey made two 650 mile trips pulling 2050 lbs with no problems so I’m very happy with the cooler!

by:

I have always loved etrailer and their service. Once again order another of these coolers. Drop my temp from 240 to 170-190 also remember to order extra hose, the adapter if needed for your vehicle make, mount kits. Love it. Perfect this one is on a 07 GMC Yukon XL always add an extra cooler on your 1500 gmc or chevys they help out so much for them.

by:

Works solidly, much better than the optional stock tranny cooler. It doesn't get temps as low as another one I've had, but it doesn't leak like that one either! Always keeps temps within acceptable range, though at the higher end of acceptable when pulling 7-8k in 110*F outside temps and hills. Be prepared to fabricate a mount for it, not a one size fits all kit!

by:

good product form a great company !
my
only complaint is this was listed as for my specific truck, but the "insta-dapt" supplied doesn't fit the Dodge truck of my year. even doing my research ahead of time, it seems to be hit or miss whether it would fit as some of them come with 5/16 fittings and some (like mine) come with 9/16 fittings. it doesnt matter the engine size, even other 3.7L dodge trucks of the same year have 5/16 fittings... I think Dodge made a change middle year, but never let the consumer know as mine is a late year '04.
no dig deal as I was able to assemble it anyways and got it up and running great and both the radiator and trans are running much cooler now !
I attached the D12902 to the bumper as you will see in attached images.
2 attached images are just before finishing, bumper hasnt been attached yet, one of them is after everything was complete.

by:

I just installed this on my chevy avalanche.
Flipped
the bottom brace around in order to mount to.
The hardest part is getting the hoses on the cooler and over the return line.
I ended up getting a 90 deg quick connection coming from the radiator instead of using the one I got from etrailer. This keeps the hose from bending as much.
Also purchase the installation kit with a hose as you will need an extra hose.
After install I wish I would have went with the next bigger unit which is 10 high instead of 7 1/2 as I had plenty of room.

by:

Good product. The only problem, the hose that is supplied diameter is way to small for the nipples on the cooler. Had to heat up the hose to put on, even then extremely tight fit.

by:

Excellent, way better than the WeatherTech rain guards I had on there before.

by:

I was able to mount it but never able to actually install it and hook it up completely.

by:

This fan looks like it will do a great job.
No
more overheated transmission.
Pulling a trailer in stop and go traffic on a 100 degree day - No problem :-)

  • Optimal Mounting Location for Transmission Cooler on 2006 Buick Rendezvous
The best spot to install the transmission cooler is in front of the radiator, where it will get maximum air flow. If necessary it can be mounted behind the radiator, if there is sufficient clearance for installation. Installing the cooler in front of your radiator would almost certainly involve removing the grille and possibly the front fascia under the bumper to improve access. We have an installation video showing a cooler being installed on a different vehicle, watching the video...

The # D12901 is a fit for all engine options on the 2016 Ford Escape Titanium. For your Escape this measures 13" wide x 5" tall x 3/4" deep so you may want to check under the hood to make sure you have the room needed for this cooler. Also note the Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation. Included is a video resource, instructions,...

  • Will Derale Dyno-Cool Transmission Cooler Fit A 2003 Acura MDX
Transmission coolers are flow through devices so you can pretty much use any transmission cooler you want as long as it will fit in your vehicle, which is why it's always a wise decision to measure the space where you plan to install it before purchasing. The optimal location to install a transmission cooler and where you want to measure is in front of the AC condenser. The overall dimensions of this transmission cooler, part # D12901 are 13" wide x 5" tall x 3/4" deep. Included is a...

  • Does the Derale Transmission Cooler for a 2001 Honda Odyssey Come with Installation Instructions
The transmission cooler # D12901 does come with installation instructions. Since transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, the instructions will not cover any individual vehicles. The output from the transmission will first run to the factory cooler which is mounted inside the radiator. The return line will then go to the supplemental cooler, and from there back to the transmission. A cooler can be mounted in basic locations depending on the space available. • Would the Derale Transmission Cooler part # D12901 be Adequate for 2007 Honda Odyssey Towing Pop Up
Transmission coolers like the part # D12901 don't really have weight ratings. We put them in classifications based on size and the general cooling efficiency they would have. The part # D12901 would work just as good towing a 2,000 lb trailer as a 2,100 lb trailer. This will work just fine on your 2007 Honda Odyssey.

  • Replacing the OEM Transmission Cooler on a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The transmission coolers that we have on our site are meant to be supplemental coolers, meaning they are meant to be installed on a vehicle that has a transmission cooler that is in good working order. That is why we only have videos of them being installed on the OEM part. We have had some reports of people using supplemental transmission coolers to replace their OEM cooler so if you do decide to replace your OEM cooler with a supplemental cooler then you will want to make sure that you...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2008 Chevy Uplander
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific so you can use any one that will fit in the space you have available in the engine compartment. There are 3 locations you could mount the cooler: in front the A/C condenser, behind the condenser and in front of the radiator, or behind the radiator which is not very efficient. Check these areas for how much space you have to make sure a cooler fits. The most popular cooler is # D13503. It measures 11 inches across, 8-3/4 inches tall, and 7/8...

The Derale 17" Frame Rail Fluid Cooler, # D13221, is a universal cooler so it will fit your 2004 Dodge Dakota but does not include the fittings and hose that you will need for installation. Instead, I recommend taking a look at Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D12901. Still very economical but offers a larger cooler and includes a high-temperature hose with clamps, nylon mounting rods, and Insta-dapt radiator adapter which fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission...

  • Is Transmission Cooler Recommended for 2019 Nissan Pathfinder Towing Within 500 Lbs of Max Capacity
You're getting pretty close to the towing capacity of that vehicle, so yes I would without doubt recommend a transmission cooler. A transmission cooler is some super-inexpensive insurance that will do a great job of protecting your transmission. The best place to install a cooler is right behind the grille, in front of the radiator. You'll want to choose a cooler that fits the available space, and you needn't worry about the cooler blocking the air flow to the radiator. There's enough...

  • Which Class Transmission Cooler Should be Used on a 2006 Honda Odyssey
Derale adds Class information to try to make it easier to select the proper transmission cooler for a given vehicle. It is supposed to match the Class of the trailer hitch you have. But really, transmission fluid cannot be over-cooled so going with the largest cooler that will fit is the way to go. The most popular option for a 2006 Honda Odyssey is a Class III cooler # D13502. I am not sure what, if any, benefit new cooler lines would offer. But the right transmission cooler will do the trick. If your 2009 Chevy Equinox has the 3.4 liter engine, we have several options. I recommend the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D12901. This has the simplest, tube fin design. No, a supplemental transmission cooler is not going to be required if you aren't towing a trailer with your 2015 Honda Odyssey.
