One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

Today we have Derale Series 8000 Plate Fin Transmission Cooler Kit with Barb Inlets, part number D13504. In addition to the transmission cooler itself, you also get a new line, some hose clamps and attaching kit to help make the connections, and finally you get a mounting kit for mounting the transmission cooler on top of your AC condenser or radiator. These attachments sort of work like a zip tie does, and theres little foam blocks to put in between to pad the transmission cooler on top of the AC condenser. Transmission coolers are universal fit items, they are not vehicle specific, so to make sure it is going to fit your vehicle you need to measure the area where you plan on mounting the transmission cooler. Were go ahead and give you an idea of the size of this cooler. It measures about 11 inches wide by about 12 inches tall, and its right at 7/8ths to an inch thick.
Derale covers this transmission cooler with a one year limited warranty. And that does it for Derale Series 8000 Plate Fin Transmission Cooler Kit with Barb Inlets, part number D13504. .

The transmission cooler was exactly as described and was delivered quickly-actually faster than expected. As others have stated, the hose that is included with the kit was not quite long enough for my application. Not too big of a deal-just plan on the good possibility of needing to get a longer one. This is my second purchase from etrailer and everything was smooth quick and easy-will definately purchase from here again.81822
I installed the cooler last weekend in my 2008 Silverado. I've included some
pictures.
I made a strap to support the upper portion of the cooler and thru bolted
the lower to the existing bracket.
The hood bracket lower bolts had to be cut down to 1/4" length so they would
not contact the cooler.
The lower mount bolts had to be spaced to give the hood mount weld nuts
clearance.
Now to see how it does with a trailer and the Pacific Northwest hills.81391
Randy, could you please forward me pictures of your install? I have the exact truck and your pictures would be helpful.ThanksPaul

Had no problem with the install. Cooler seamed to be good quality. I did have to make some adapters to go from 3/8" to 5/16" on this 03 F150, I guess that's a Ford thing. Cooler works well.......81221
nice size cooler but not enough hose to do the installation. I bought another 3' of hose so I could mount the tranny cooler in the center of the a/c evaporater for the best possible cooling. I'm hauling a 14' tandem enclosed trailer with a 1/2 ton 01 Ram. the other problem I had was the adapter fittings they reccomend were too small for my stock lines. I do belive I had 5/8 fittings instead of the 9/16 they reccomend you buy. I ended up taking my bottom line off at the radiator and brought it to napa to fit the right ones. all in all nice cooler. The folks at etrailer had no problems taking back the fittings and crediting my account as well as apoligizing for my hassel.49729
Great product! It was very easy to install and the shipping was pretty fast. Make sure to buy any adapters needed, it will make the install easier. I will definitely be a returning customer and recommend to others. Thanks!16684
This cooler was delivered promptly and as advertized and will fit in front of the radiator and behind the grill. The 4 foot length of cooler hose is not long enough to install this cooler on a 2006 Dodge 5.9 diesel. I am a bit disappointed that I will need an additional 4 feet of cooler hose to complete this installation. I may also have to purchase a fitting but I'll find out later.
I don't have pictures yet as the cooler has not been installed. I don't mind sending pictures later.
Thanks,

Derale Trans Cooler Item arrived in a timely manner, while I haven't installed it yet,it is a well made cooler and comes with all hardware needed to do a professional install.
Get the fittings that are offered too, makes for a tight install.
This isn't my first Derale cooler,I had one on another tow vehicle years ago,it will lower your
transmission temperature and increase trans life. 4935
It arrived this morning and it is exactly what I wanted. I will be installing it in a couple of days but the instructions are very detailed and easy to understand. I am very happy with the fast shipping schedule and the entire order process.15273
Ideally you want to keep the temperature of the transmission fluid below 200 degrees. You cannot cool transmission fluid too much. The Derale Transmission Cooler, part # D13504 is not a cooler recommended to work with your existing cooler on your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with Allison Transmission.
I spoke with my representative at Derale, and informed him your truck is equipped with an Allison Transmission. He recommended the Derale 19-Row High-Performance Stacked-Plate Cooler, part # view full answer...
The difference between the plate and fin style, # D13504, and the tube and fin style cooler, # D12904, is that the plate and fin models can cool better than the tube and fin models. You will notice that plate and fin coolers with the same rating as tube and fin coolers are smaller in size. Basically, the plate and fin cooler provides more surface area to extract heat from the transmission oil and also has internal turbulator technology to help the oil to cool faster and prevent pressure loss.

Transmission coolers are not custom fit items. The only way to tell if it will fit your Tundra is to measure where you want to mount the cooler and see if you have the space. The dimensions of the cooler are 11 inches wide, 12 inches tall and 7/8 inch deep.
I assume you meant 6,000 pounds and not 60,000 pounds. At 6,000 pounds, this cooler would provide more than enough cooling for your transmission. You could probably use smaller coolers like part # D13503 to save some space since 6,000 pou view full answer...
The Derale 8000 Series cooler, part # D13504, would be a good cooler to use for that trailer weight range. I do not see any reason why it would not fit your full-size van. Just to be sure, measure the area where you would want to install it to make sure you have enough room. The cooler measures 11 inches wide, 12 inches tall and 7/8 inch thick.
The cooler attaches to your radiator and sits in front of it. There is a factory trans cooler, though very small, built into the radiator of most auto view full answer...
Transmission coolers are universal fit items, so as long as you have the space for it in front of your radiator, it will fit.
Vehicles equipped with towing packages will have transmission coolers built into the radiator. A 2004 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 will have a factory trans cooler. It may be sufficient for lighter loads or infrequent towing.
Since this is a camper, I assume you will be towing through most of the summer. In that case, I would probably add an aftermarket transmission cooler. view full answer...
Yes, the Derale Transmission Coolers for the 1992 Van by Dodge, item # D13504, would be a great choice for cooling your transmission while towing. The only suggestion I would make is that you measure the space available in front of your radiator or a/c condenser to make sure there is space for the install. I am sure there is room on your van but double check to be safe.
The overall dimensions of the # D13504 Transmission Cooler are 11 inches wide by 12 inches tall and 7/8 inches thick.

When installing a transmission cooler like Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13504, it does not matter which side is intake and which is output. You do not have to bypass the factory cooler if you do not want to. If you want to keep both, the path of the fluid needs to be transmission to factory cooler, then to Derale cooler, then back to the transmission.
The most important consideration you need to take is where the cooler will be mounted. There are 3 possibilities. The most efficient place to view full answer...
Using an inline transmission cooler like the Derale model, part # D13090 in conjunction with the # D13504 transmission cooler should not present a problem with the transmission pump. The parts are designed to work together.
Keep in mind that using the inline filter along with the cooler will add some fluid capacity to the system, make sure to add enough fluid to completely fill the system.

Since the H3 and Canyon/Colorado share the same platform and some of the same engines, it would be safe to use the Canyon as a benchmark for a transmission cooler. I would choose either the # D13504 or part # D13502. If you use the H3 in the winter, the D13504 may require a bit more warm-up time to get the trans fluid warm. Both should help bring your transmission temperatures down.
The measurements for both coolers are listed on their pages. Make sure you have enough room to install them on view full answer...
As long as you can securely mount the Derale Transmission Cooler, item # D13504, in a safe location that has good air flow to cool the fluid going through it, you can mount the cooler where ever you like. Just remember that the more airflow and the larger the cooler is the better it will perform. So a large cooler with mediocre air flow may not be the best solution.
If a smaller cooler, like the Derale Series 8000, item # D13501, would install easier or more safely and have better air flow t view full answer...
A transmission cooler will not help your engine run cooler. A transmission cooler is a fraction of the size of an engine radiator. I would first check the vehicle owner manual to see what the towing capacity of the vehicle is. Make sure you do not exceed that figure with your boat. Doing so could damage any number of components on the vehicle such as the engine, transmission, suspension, rear-end etc.
There are some aftermarket parts available that can help so long as you are within the weigh view full answer...
Transmission fluid should run below 200 degrees Fahrenheit. At 240 degrees you definitely need to make some sort of change to reduce the temperature. I would first recommend having the transmission checked by a qualified automotive technician to be sure it is performing properly. This will assure you that no damage has been caused to the transmission and you will not be stranded. Installing a transmission cooler will not reverse any damage that may have already been caused.

I strongly recommend you get a transmission cooler to prevent damage to your 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche.
Transmission coolers are universal fit items, what you will need to do is find out how much room you have to work with in front of your radiator and find a transmission cooler that will fit your application.

Yes, all the correct fittings and hoses are included. The transmission lines on your 2006 Toyota 4Runner have 3/8inch fittings and the fitting provided in the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, item # D13504, will fit on the return side (out) transmission line of your radiator. You will then attach the supplied hose to this fitting and run it to the transmission cooler. You will want to install the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class IV - Efficient, part # D13504, after the factory cooler.
If you were to put the # D13504 before the factory cooler, you would actually be cooling the fluid and then reheating it once it went through factory cooler, making the # D13504 completely useless.
The method for determining which line is the return line is to:
