When towing vehicles with a tow bar, all 4 wheels are in contact with the ground. Certain vehicles - namely, those with front-wheel drive automatic transmissions - require either a transmission lube pump system or a driveshaft disconnect. Using a tow dolly eliminates the need for those by lifting your vehicle's front wheels off the road. In addition, by using the dolly you will not need tow bars and mounting brackets that clutter the front of your car.

TrueGrip Ramp

Superior Design

If you have multiple vehicles, the tow dolly is a great alternative to purchasing and installing the required brackets and supplemental braking systems in your additional car(s). Its unique TrueGrip ramps offer a 36" range of adjustment to ensure a precise fit for any vehicle you decide to tow, and the self-steering wheels will keep that vehicle safe and on course by allowing the dolly to better track your motor home.

Bed Tilt

Convenient Bed Tilt

You will never again have to crawl under your car to tilt the bed of your dolly. RoadMaster's Tow Dolly includes a conveniently located tilt release to make towing your vehicle even faster and easier.

Storage

Locking Storage System

Stow tie-downs, wheel nets, tow lights or any other accessories you decide to take along with you in the dolly's handy storage trays. Both compartments lock securely using the same key and are located near the top of the dolly for quick and easy access, even while car is being towed.

  • What Is the Weight of the RoadMaster Tow Dolly and What is Coupler Height
  • I called RoadMaster and got the following weight measurements. The weight of the dolly is 620 pounds. The shipping weight is 794 pounds. I have sent an update email to have this information corrected on our site. The trailer tongue and coupler height are fixed, they are not adjustable. A ball mount should be selected that has the proper rise or drop so that the dolly is riding level on the axle. The coupler height is 18 inches on the dolly. So you would need a ball mount that would keep the d

  • Can the 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan be Towed with the Roadmaster Tow Dolly # RM-2000-1
  • Yes, it is required that the steering wheel is locked when towing with the RoadMaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes, item # RM-2000-1. The instructions state that the steering wheel must be locked or otherwise secured when towing. Failure to lock the steering wheel will allow the towed vehicle to pivot on the bed, causing it to hit the fender and wheel assemblies of the dolly. Severe damage will occur if the steering wheel is not locked. If your vehicle owners manual says not to tow the vehi

  • Base Plates, Tow Bar, Safety Cables, and Wiring to Flat Tow a 2007 Chevy Impala LTZ
  • You will be able to flat tow your 2007 Chevy Impala LTZ using a tow bar. You will first need to install base plate kit # 3142-1 (kit will not work on SS models). You will then need a tow bar compatible with XL style base plates. I recommend the RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar, # RM-020. (To be able to remove the XL base plate front extensions, you will need to use Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnect Kit, # RM-201.) Next, you will need safety chains, or cables, and a light kit as required by law

  • How Can I Tow a 2007 Toyota Prius Behind my RV
  • The only way your 2007 Toyota Prius can be towed is by using a RoadMaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes, part # RM-2000-1. Using the # RM-2000-1 you will not have to mess with installing a base plate kit on your Prius or have tow bars on your RV. Another added benefit is that the # RM-2000-1 comes with electric brakes, and self steers. You will need a brake controller if you do not have one already, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller - Proportional, part # 90885. It is o

  • How Could I Activate my 2004 Chevy Colorado Tail Light Functions with Tow Dolly Tail Lights
  • There is a way you could wire a RoadMaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes, part # RM-2000-1, to allow you to use the tail light functions of the tow dolly and to activate the tail lights of your 2004 Chevy Colorado while being towed. I spoke with my contact at RoadMaster and he informed me that there is not a kit or harness that you could buy that would allow you to do this, and that you would need a Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-154, and you would have to do a lit

  • No modifications need to be done to your 2004 Chevy Colorado in order to flat tow it behind a motor home. If using the tow dolly, # RM-2000-1, or another tow dolly, you will need to make sure that the dolly can accept the width of the truck and the tire size. • Tow Dolly Recommendation to Tow a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta Automatic Behind a Motor Home
  • According to the research I did, a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta automatic has to be towed on a dolly. It cannot be flat towed with all 4 wheels down. You will need to check the owners manual for verification. The tow dolly I recommend is the same one that you have referenced, # RM-2000-1. The advantage of this tow dolly is that it has a lot of built in features, such as electric brakes and lights, that will minimize the amount of accessories you will need. In order to operate the electric brakes on

  • If your 2009 Toyota Camry has an automatic transmission, then it will require a tow dolly like the Roadmaster Tow Dolly, # RM-2000-1, that you referenced on our website. One advantage to using this tow dolly is that it already comes with brakes and lights which will minimize the amount of additional items you will need. • Can RoadMaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes Be Backed Up in Reverse?
  • The electric brakes on the RoadMaster Tow Dolly, part # RM-2000-1, only engage when you activate the brakes on your tow vehicle. Your tow vehicle brakes send a braking signal to the (required) brake controller which in turn tells the electric brakes on the towing dolly (through the required wiring harness) to activate. Operating your tow vehicle and the tow dolly in reverse gear for maneuvering purposes is not a problem; the brakes on the dolly will not engage unless told to do so by the brak
