Today we are going to build part number RRT60 from Sports Trailers. First off what we are going to do is lay out all of our parts and make sure we have got everything ready to go and we have got all of our parts accounted for. Once we have done that we will start the assembly of the trailer. We will first start off by attaching the tongue of the trailer which is a long beam to the frame of the trailer which is this square part. This is going to be your trailer frame right here and then we are going to attach the tongue to it. We are going to build it upside down basically, that will be the easiest way to do it. We are going to take the tongue and lay it in place for now. We want this part right here, this little round part on the end, we want this right here and we will have three U-bolts that will clamp it in place. Make sure you have it going the right side up since we are building our trailer upside down the sticker would be upside down too. 00:46

Once you have got the U-bolt we are going to it into place. Sometimes there is a little bit of a bind so take a rubber mallet and tap them into place. On the bottom we are going to attach the lock nuts and that is it. Now we are going to take our tongue and push it towards the front so this knob will set up against the U-bolt. For now we are going to flip the assembly over so it will be easier to get to the nuts and tighten them down. There is actually no real hard and fast rule about putting the tongue with the U-bolts. You can scoot it in if you want or you can leave it fully extended like we are going to do to accommodate different sizes of the objects you are going to carry on there. We have got our tongue bolted on so lets flip the trailer frame back over. Lets bolt on the trailer coupler itself now. It is going to use these two holes right here and one bolt is going to be longer than the other. The short bolt will be going towards the actual ball of the coupler itself and the longer bolt will go towards the back of the trailer and we will attach our safety chains to that bolt as well. 02:13

Run the bolt through the chain loop and then into the coupler and out the other side. We will leave the chain going out along side here so this part of the chain has somewhere to fit into and is laying as flat as possible on the coupler. Next we will start on the sub assembly of the axles. First off we will install the U-bolts from the bottom up so the threads will be pointing towards the top. We want one on each side of the hole in the axle. In between the U-bolt place a spring. The spring is going to sit inside here and it is going to be held in place by this center tie bolt. That will fit in that hole right there. That way it keeps it from moving around. Then of course the U-bolts clamp everything together. On top of the spring we will add the U-bolt plate. Run these nuts down. Just snug it up so it will not move around but still loose enough that we can still manipulate it if we need to so we can center it in the frame. We have got our one side done. Now we will go over to the other side and repeat the same process over there. The next thing we need to do is flip the axle over and we are going to install it to the frame of the trailer. The eye part of the spring we will just set it into the hangers which are this part and this part. This is the reason why we left our U-bolts a little bit loose so we can move these around if we need to. At the front here we are going to run our 1/ 2 inch bolt through the hanger out the other side and attach another lock nut. The back side is going to be a little different. This is what is called a slipper tight suspension which means that when the suspension gets compressed, this pushes up against the frame and it slides backwards or slips back. What happens is the bolt that goes over the top and kind of traps it so it does not come all the way back out the bottom. It also uses a bushing and then just another nut on the back side. We will install the bolts on the other side of the axle and then we can tighten them all down. You see how there is some movement here, it is supposed to be like that. 04:47

At this point we will cinch down the U-bolts for the axle down for good. The object is to tighten them fully and to have an equal amount of threads on both sides. Next we will mount the fenders. They will line up with one of the two holes on each side and it looks like on this one it is going to be on the outside so what is going to happen is we are going to install a flat washer on the inside edge and then run our bolt through. We have got the driver side done and we will do the same thing back over on the passenger side. The next thing we can do is install our load bar brackets. There are just some angled pieces right here that simply sit on top of the frame and get U-bolted into place. We will install the load bars next. The kit came with the Magenta bar so we will install those but you can also load up Yakima bars and Thule bars so we will just lay them across the top, even them up, and those will get U-bolts as well to hold everything down. We are going to install our tie down bolts and we are going to use this nut that is threaded all the way up to the top. Flat washer and then on the inside we are going to install another flat washer and lock nut. To make things a little easier to install we are going to put a piece of tape over the end of our socket and then the nut inside and run everything together. The nut we will be using will be a non locking nut so it will be easier to put together. Once you have the eye bolt positioned the way you want it then tighten it down. Now we have got our trailer off our table so we can put the wheels on. Lets go over to the other side and install the other wheel. We have got wheels in our trailer and our assembly is finished.
