Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The double-eye spring is suspended at the ends by hangers that attach to its eye or, in the case of tandem-axle or triple-axle systems, into hangers in the front and rear and an equalizer or equalizers in the center. To determine the type of hangers or hanger kit you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring you have, as well as your axle diameter and capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications.
Please Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Today were gonna be taking a look at part number TE30, the Single-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Axles. This spring does only have one leaf within it and it was two 9/16-inch mounting eyes. When ordering a spring for your trailer, there are a few things you do need to know first. This spring measures 25 inches long by 1 inches wide. You will need to know the springs half-length which is measured from the center of the mounting eye to the center of the spring here at the leaf bolt. This springs half length is 12 5/8 inches. The final measurement youll need to know is the spring height. To get this measurement, youll draw an imaginary line from the center of the mounting eye to the center of the mounting eye on either side.
Using that imaginary line, well measure from the spring surface to it. In this case we have 3-inch height for this spring. And that does it for part number TE30, the Single-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb axles. .

- How to Determine the Correct Double Eye Leaf Springs For Replacement
- When replacing the leaf springs on your trailer you will need to match all of the dimensions and the spring capacity as closely as possible to the original spring.
See the picture to the right for the locations of the measurements, (A) and (B) in the following paragraphs.
If your trailer has a axle capacity of 6,000 pounds and the center to center measurement of the spring eyes is 24-1/4 inches, and the measurement from the center of the spring to the center of the front spring eye is 12-5

- How to Determine the Correct Leaf Springs and Parts for Suspension 1956 Shasta Camper
- To determine the correct parts you need to replace the springs on your trailer you will need to do some measuring and find the GVRW, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, of your trailer.
Measure the distance between the center of each eye on your trailers existing springs. The new springs you select should then match 1/2 of the trailer GVWR and the distance of the measurement you take. If you find that the measurement on your springs is 1/2 to 1 inch longer than the measurement of a spring that is th

- How to Pick Leaf Springs for a Trailer
- If you look on the frame of your trailer there should be a plate with the trailer VIN number and the axle capacities of the trailer. You will want to pick leaf springs that are as close to the axle capacity as possible.
You will want to also measure the distance from eye to eye of your old leaf springs and then pick a leaf spring with the same weight capacity of your trailer axles and is slightly shorter (around 1 inch) to compensate for the sag and wear of the old leaf spring.

- Are 2 inch Wide Double Eye Leaf Springs Available for 6,000 lbs Axles on a Stock Trailer
- I would recommend upgrading your trailer suspension system. The 2 inch wide double eye springs are no longer available and the extra width of the 2 inch wide hangers would not be a good idea with 1-3/4 inch wide springs like the 1-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles, item # TE30.
I suppose a 1/8 inch spacer could be used to take up the 1/4 inch difference on each side of the spring to keep the spring centered so it can function properly. A better solution might be to upgrade th

- Where Does a Shackle Strap Install on a Double Eye Leaf Spring Single Axle Trailer Suspension
- On a single axle with double eye leaf springs, the front eye will be attached to a hanger and the rear eye will be attached to a shackle strap that is attached to a hanger. - Leaf Spring Replacement Recommendation for a Trailer with 6000 lb Axles
- The Double-Eye Spring # TE30 that you referenced would work well for you. I did a little research and found that with your distance of 29-1/2 inches the # TE30 would be the perfect length once you factor in the distance that the equalizers take up. These springs are also designed to work with 6,000 lb axles so this would be perfect for you.
I am a little concerned about the GVW of your trailer being 13,180 lbs when you have 2 6,000 lb axles on your trailer. I would strongly recommend you lowe

- Replacing 5-Leaf Spring with 1-Leaf Double-Eye Spring on Boat Trailer with Tandem 6,000-lb Axles
- The single leaf spring you referenced, part # TE30, would work fine as a replacement for the 5-leaf springs you currently have. You are correct in stating that corrosion would be less of an issue with this particular spring.
Make sure to replace the leaf springs in pairs by axle.

- Will Changing Leaf Springs Help Unloaded Ride Quality of a Trailer
- The problem is that in order for the trailer to have the overall capacity it needs to carry what the trailer is rated for it needs to have a very stiff spring. The trade-off is that when the trailer is loaded the springs are working fine, but when the trailer is unloaded it can be pretty annoying.
If you were to go with a spring that is light enough so that the trailer would not bounce around as much the trailer would also no longer have the capacity it once did.
So basically you have to a

- Does Using a Single Leaf Double-Eye Trailer Spring Allow for a Smoother Ride
- If the other spring has the same capacity as # TE30, rated for 3,000 pounds, then you will not experience any difference in ride quality. One thing to consider is if the springs are mounted on top of the axle, going to a single leaf spring like TE30 will cause the deck of the trailer to sit lower.
I have included a link to our FAQ article on double-eye trailer suspension for you.
