This product was a very good buy for the project, It saved me time and money by using your product rather than making my own which would not have been as good as the ones I bought from you. I will also be buying other parts from you in the future. I think you have a great company with great prices. Thanks,41861

Ask the Experts about this Redline Trailer Suspension

  • Should the Trailer Suspension Rear Hanger be Closer or Farther From the Axle than Rear Spring Eye
  • The rear hanger should be slightly closer the the axle (forward) of the trailer. If you look at the drawing on the product page for Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs, # APS1, you will see the rear hanger is more forward than the center of the rear eye of the spring. The shackle, then, is at a slight angle with the top more forward than the bottom. I have included a link to our double-eye trailer suspension FAQ article that contains a lot of good information on trailer susp

  • Do Shackle Straps in Trailer Hanger Kit # APS1 Bolt to the Inside or Outside of Hanger
  • The shackle straps included in the # APS1 trailer hanger kit will bolt to the outside of the rear hangers, which measure 9/16 of an inch from the top to the center of the bolt hole. I am including some links to videos and FAQs with information that should be helpful as you go through the suspension kit installation.

  • Differences in the Redline Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kits, # APS1, #APS2, and # APS3
  • The APS1, APS2, and APS3 are all suspension kits for single-axle trailers with 1-3/4-inch double-eye springs. They are designed for use on trailers with single, 2,000-lb to 7,000-lb axles. The difference in the kits are in the rear hangers and the shackle straps. The Redline Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit, part # APS1, uses the Redline Rear Hanger, part # 30-20, which uses a steel bushing and is .91 inches tall. The shackle straps are the Shackle Strap, part # TRSL313, which are 3-1/8 inc

  • Can Trailer Suspension Hangers Be Bolted on
  • You will want to weld the hangers of the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # APS1. The holes you see are not designed to have bolts run through them. If you did run bolts they would most likely interfere with the spring and how it would sit on the hanger. I would recommend you have a qualified welder do this for you. Check out the FAQ on trailer suspension I attached also.

  • Can a Rear Hanger that is Wider than the Trailer Frame be Still be Used
  • The reason that the hanger is wider is most likely because double-eye springs are 1-3/4 inches wide. But as long as the hangers you are using are welded to the bottom of the frame as much as they possibly can be it will be fine. Welding should be performed by a qualified professional welder.
