Features:

  • Perfect for 5th-wheel campers
  • Electric-powered adjustment for easy operation
  • Single-speed Lippert motor has built-in safety features
    • Motor won't trip circuits or cause problems with coach's electrical systems
    • IP-rated switch will not spark, so it can be mounted safely in bottle-gas area
  • Drop legs minimize jacking time and help to level the trailer on uneven ground
    • Legs adjust in 1" increments
    • Cage pins included to release drop legs
      • Upgrade to spring-loaded pull pins (LG-119113; sold separately) for simpler drop-leg release
  • Hand crank included for manual operation
  • Heavy-duty steel construction
  • Gear box housed in a corrosion-resistant aluminum body
  • Landing gear welds onto trailer frame
  • Set includes 2 jacks, gearbox, motor, switch, footplates, cross shaft, hand crank and hardware

Specs:

  • Lift: 21" from weld-on point
  • Drop-leg travel: 16"
  • Combined weight capacity: 6,000 lbs
  • Cross shaft length: 41" - 71"
  • Footpad dimensions: 8" long x 5" wide x 2" tall
  • Black tube dimensions: 2-1/2" x 2-1/2"
  • 1-Year warranty

Note: Landing gear is designed to stabilize a portion of your trailer's weight, not to support the full GVWR of your trailer. Do not use landing gear to lift your trailer or RV during tire changes or service work because doing so will exceed the capacity of the landing legs.

Unlike some landing gear, Stromberg Carlson's was designed with safety in mind. The motor, manufactured by Lippert, won't trip circuits or cause problems with the coach's electrical systems. In addition, the IP-rated switch will not spark, so it can be mounted safely in the bottle-gas area.

Convenience is also a hallmark of this product. An inner drop leg on each jack makes leveling easy by allowing the jack feet to reach the ground quickly and at varying heights, saving time and thus reducing the draw on the trailer's battery. The cage pins that secure the drop legs can be replaced with spring-loaded pull pins (LG-119113; sold separately) that allow for single-handed operation. Large, rectangular, pivoting footpads are included, but you can use larger, 9-inch-diameter pads (LG-210475; sold separately) instead if you often camp on soft ground.

This system and its parts were designed to be compatible with most of the other fifth-wheel landing gear on the market, including Atwood and Lippert. If you're replacing your old landing gear, you can install this set from Stromberg Carlson using your existing mounting hardware.

I found the product was of good to excellent quality. However when reviewing the installation directions it had no directions on how to wire the elec. motor to the control switch. I found the wiring instructions on the motor manufacturing web site. I would recommend that these instructions be with the installation instructions. Also when connecting the left & right landing gear together with the provided 1" square tube the bars were not long enough to make the span on a standard 5th wheel camper. I had to use my existing bar. I would use etrailer.com again and I hope this helps them make corrections to this package. 124726

  • Availability of Replacement Lead Jack and Parts for Stromberg Carlson 5th Wheel Landing Gear # LG-1
  • The jack with the motor is referred to as the lead jack, while the other jack is called the follower. Since the jack on the motor side is in need of replacement, you would need the lead jack. The lead jack is not terribly difficult to replace. You would need to disconnect the drive rod that connects the two legs, remove the lead jack, install the replacement lead jack, and pull the motor and gearbox off the defective jack and install on the replacement. If you were using the Stromberg...

  • I spoke with my contact at Stromberg Carlson and the Replacement Lead Jack with Drop Leg, # LG-179013, is the same part as the Lippert Universal Fit Lead Landing Gear, # 179013. The only difference between the two products is that they are sold through different companies so the part numbers are slightly altered. If you were interested in a replacement follow jack with drop leg you can took at part # LG-179014 or the entire assembly is available with part # LG-1.

  • The Stromberg-Carlson Replacement Follow Jack for 5th Wheel Landing Gear, part # LG-179014, is a replacement for the non-driven sides of the LG-1 powered landing gear and LG-183708 manual landing gear. Both of these landing gear products use weld-on installation and both have a 6000-lb weight rating. According to my research on the Forest River website, the Cardinal 35-foot 5th wheel trailer model 3030RS has a dry tongue weight of 2,550 lbs. A set of landing gear rated for 6000 lbs will...

  • I have a solution for your 1996 Avion 5th wheel, however, it is not as simple as getting two new legs. Your Avion was manufacturered by Fleetwood and the landing gear was manufacturered by RBW. Fleetwood discontinued the Avion and RBW sold out to Al-Ko. Al-Ko decided to discontinue the landing gear and sold the rights to Atwood Mobile. Atwood Mobile decided to not produce the original RBW landing gear. however, to make a long story short, after my research I have found a way for you...

  • Locating Replacement Gears for Landing Gear Legs on a 2000 Cameo 5th Wheel Trailer
  • I have some information that may help, however, replacement gears for the landing gear legs on your 2000 Cameo fifth wheel trailer may be difficult to find. Typically, landing gear manufacturers do not stamp their name or part number on their landing gear legs. Since most landing gear manufacturers do not make their parts interchangeable between one another, the only way to locate the correct replacement gears is by knowing the manufacturer and part number of the landing gear which involves...

  • Stromberg Carlson Landing Gear # LG-1 for Jayco Qwest Fifth Wheel Camper
  • The Stromberg Carlson # LG-1 is an industry-standard landing gear that should fit on your fifth wheel with no problems. The mounting brackets weld directly to the frame of your fifth wheel, and the jacks would then mount into the brackets. As long as your Jayco Qwest has exposed frame members under the trailer loft for the brackets to weld to, the LG-1 will work great for you. I have linked you to a copy of our return policy.

This item replaces the follow jack for your tandem landing gear. It is the jack in the landing gear that does not have a crank or motor mounted to it. It works with most brands of landing gear and is constructed of heavy-duty steel. It has a lift of 21 inches from the weld-on...

  • How Landing Gear Jacks are Connected to Fifth Wheel
  • The outer tube of the landing gear is attached to the fifth wheel frame via some frame clamps. The clamps themselves are usually welded to the trailer frame, and bolted clamps hold the outer jack tube in place. The inner tube of the jack will extend and retract, raising and lowering the front of the fifth wheel. The diagram I provided might make it a bit more clear for you.

  • Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear Motor Just Spins and Does Not Raise/Lower Jack Leg
  • It sounds like the motor is not engaging the gears and/or screw inside the leg on your landing gear. There is a screw and fixed nut inside most jacks. A handle or motor turns the gears that turn the screw to raise or lower the jack leg. There could be a roll pin in the shaft of the motor that engages the gears that is missing but you would have to take apart the jack to find it. • Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear Jack Recommendation for a 2003 Cherokee 295L 5th Wheel
  • I think I have a better solution for you. I think the Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear Set part # LG-1 would be a better match for your 2003 Cherokee 295L 5th Wheel trailer. If you check out this jack you will see that the amount of jack and motor that is above the top mounting bracket is considerably less than the # BD500161 that you referenced so it should work well for you as long as its 6,000 lb capacity would be adequate.

You can verify this by measuring the distance between the mounting clamps that are welded to the trailer frame.
