Smooth, Low-Friction Operation

Typical jack screw systems feature direct contact between the surfaces of the screw and the threaded nut. This constant contact produces a good deal of friction, which not only increases the amount of power necessary to operate the jack but also creates heat within the system. Heat leads to increased wear on the threads, and this wear can ultimately lead to failure.

Husky Brute Ball Bearing Jack Screw System

The Brute is built with ball bearings that roll smoothly along the threads of the screw shaft and the nut, thereby eliminating direct surface-to-surface contact. This produces far less friction along the threads, leading to a reduction in heat and wear, as well as noise. In addition, because much of the friction is eliminated, less power is needed to operate the Brute. This electric jack pulls 30 percent less amperage than jacks with traditional screw systems. The overall result is a jack that can be raised and lowered faster, smoother and more efficiently.

SmartStop Automatic Stop

When a typical trailer jack is extended beyond the recommended height, the threaded nut that creates the up-and-down movement will hit a built-in stop at the top of the shaft - and hit it hard. If you leave the motor running, the nut will continue to apply pressure to this stop as it attempts to rise higher. The result is extreme stress on the gears and on the jack as a whole.

The Husky Brute has an integrated safety feature to combat this problem. The SmartStop timing system ensures that the jack motor shuts off before the nut can hit the built-in stop. No hard mechanical stops. No undue stress on the screw system. And most importantly, no damage to your powered jack.

Video Transcript for Husky Trailer Jack HT87247 Review

Today we're going to review Part Number HT87247. This is the Husky Brute Electric Trailer Jack. It has a dropleg design and is designed for A-frame trailers, has an 18-inch lift, and a 4500-pound weight capacity. This electric jack with the power drive will let you lift and lower your trailer quickly and easily. It does use a low-friction ball screw, which will minimize resistance, helps reduce wear, noise, and heat, and the difference compared to your regular typical screw system, it uses ball bearings, which will roll smoothly through the threads so there's no direct friction-inducing contact. That means there's 30% less power draw than the typical screw systems.

It does have a SmartStop, which is an automatic stop to prevent damage caused by hard stops and excessive pressure. Basically what happens is the motor will shut down before the nut reaches the end of the shaft. What that means is, I'm going to show you once Ihook it up a little bit later here, when you push the toggle switch and you retract it, and you get to the point where it can't go any further, even though your finger is on this switch, it'll stop because of that SmartStop design. If you also notice it has the 3 LEDs. There's one in front, which helps in nighttime hookups to the trailer. It also has one on each side.

The reason they're on the sides is it'll help as far as if you're going to hook up or disconnect your weight distribution system at night also. The very back of the jack, if you'll notice, has a trailer connector storage bracket. This'll guard your trailer wiring from the elements. You can just hang it right up in there to protect it. It does have the drop leg.

The drop leg does have a foot plate which has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches. The drop plate actually can be adjustable up to 6 inches. In other words, if you just pull this clip off, and we turn it here, we'll pull this pin out, you can see that you can adjust the range of the drop leg; about 6 inches is the total amount you can adjust it. Once you get it in the spot, I'mjust going to put it on the lowest one right now, you put the pin and clip back in, you're ready to go. On the inside of this jackit uses stainless steel gears and stainless steel fasteners, which offer maximum durability. This outside is a very sturdy cover.

The switches are a weatherproof switch which will prevent water-related damage to the motor. It does have a nice silver powder-coat finish to help resist corrosion. As you can see, it's a bolt-on installation for A-frame trailers, and it has the 3 holesat the dimensions that are the industry standard for your A-frame trailers. This jack does come with the parts shown here. It comes with this manual override crank that allows you to operate this when you lose power or just need to manually retract it or extend it. You do have to use . It has this brake release lever. I'll show you how that works. It also comes with this 30-amp circuit breaker. Basically, if you'll notice, it has this 6-foot length of 10-gauge power wire. When you install this, you will actually ground when you mount it to your trailer. It'll ground through the trailer itself, so you just have the one power wire. What you would do is you would put this circuit breaker in line when you connect it. One end would go to this wire, the other end to your power source. That way you have a 30-amp circuit breaker. If you overload, to protect this jack, it'll overload, pop that circuit breaker, then once you fix your problem, you can just push that button on top and that'll reset it. I do want to show you the override. In other words, the situation where you lose power or don't have access to power and you've got to manually operate this jack. What you'll want to do is at the very top here, if I can turn it toward you, there's a black rubber plug. You just pull that plug right out. There's an opening there. You'll take this manual crank in the socket end. You just fit that in there. Once you feel around you'll feel it fit right on just like a socket. You have a crank here, but before you can crank it, what you'll need to do is release the brake. The way you do that is you pull this plug off right here on the side. You'll take this little lever, this is the brake release lever; it has this open slot to it. You'll see the lever in there. Just put that inaudible 0:04:22 Inthere and then push it forward and that'll release your brake. That will allow you to crank this to retract it or extend it manually without any power.Put the plugs back in here. Do need to work the plugs a little bit, because they do seal completely. There we go. We'll take the crank out. See if Ican get this plug back in here. It's a tight seal, so sometimes it takes a little working. Yep,there we go. That'll work for now. Okay. We do want to give you a few measurements on this. I am going to hook this up. I have a 12-volt power source here to show you how this'll operate, but I do want to give you some measurements first. I have the jack fully retracted, the footplate all the way at the bottom retracted, so your bracket height is going to be 8 1/2 inches retracted. If you would fully extend this jack out and leave the footplate as it is, retracted, it would give you a total extended height of 26 1/2 inches. The lift on this is 18 inches. If you do use the drop leg adjustment of 6 inches more, that gives you a total of 24 inches total travel; the 18-inch lip, the 6-inch drop leg. If you ended up extending the jack all the way and the drop leg all the way, that would give you a total extension of about 32 1/2 inches. The lift capacity on this jack is 4500 pounds. The tube right here is 2 1/4 inches. This is a 12-volt jack. It does estimate about 10 inches of travel in 38 seconds. It does come with a 1-year warranty. What I want to do is I want to show you, I just want to hook it up to this power source. Ihave a 12-volt power source. There's 12-volt power, but needs to be grounded. Since we don't have this mounted and this paint might not give a good ground, what I'm going to do is ground it to the footplate. I'm going to show you, you can see the lights come on. There's your front light. There's the light on each side; on and off. To operate the jack is this toggle switch right next to the light switch. If we pull up on it, you can see it extending it out. If you let go, it's a toggle switch so it'll stop automatically. If you push it down, you can see it's retracting and you'll notice the SmartStop design right there. Let me show you. I still have my finger on it. Watch, it'll hit andyour finger's still on it, it'll automatically stop it. Very nice feature to protect your jack. That should do it for the review on Part Number HT87247, the Husky Brute Electric Trailer Jack Drop Leg Design for the A-frame trailers. .

I had just purchased a new trailer and because of the size and extreme tongue weight, it required a *weight distribution system* type hitch. In order to put this type of hitch on, it requires that you first connect the trailer to the hitch, then lift the trailer AND your tow vehicle at the same time. Then you install the weight distribution system, then lower it back down, retracting the stand 100%. My trailer came with a hand crank style for lowering and raising the trailer. Can you imagine doing this by hand? I did my homework and found the Husky-4500 to be the perfect fit for my trailers weight (3700lbs)…I have attached the YouTube link describing this product in greater detail and how it works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zl3T8fAnetY Again I did my research and found the very best price for this item at *etrailer.com*. I ordered this product on Tuesday 9-22-15. I received an email from George at etrailer that my order had been processed and shipped on the same day!!! On Friday the 25th, I received my product in the early afternoon!!! The packaging was excellent, insuring the product arrived without damage. The instructions were clear and very easy to follow. Installation took just about an hr and it worked every bit as advertised. The adjustable leg allows me to level the trailer now on the driveway as the Brute-4500 has a longer stand travel than the stock crappy one. *NOTE*- my trailer did not have nuts on the bolts securing the hand crank to the trailer…the holes are “threaded” so the bolts do not require nuts. I elected to put locking nuts on the bottom of the 3 bolts, just for added peace of mind. If you’re lifting a large trailer, you may want to do the same. I would recommend this product to anyone that has a trailer that requires a weight distribution system hitch, or anyone who just doesn’t want hand crank the trailer on and off the tow vehicle. Added bonus-the unit has covered device that holds your trailer plug, up and out of the way when not towing, keeping it free from water and dirt. 227891

I just installed this jack on our 2014 I-Go just before our latest trip, and it performed great. I was actually hesitant to get an electric jack given the exercise that the manual jack provides, but with the multiple jacking cycles required to hitch and unhitch with our weight-distributing system (plus a forecast for the upper 90's!), I did some research and settled on this particular model. One thing that led me to choose this jack was the simple foot that can be quickly and easily positioned for jacking or stowage. On a recent trip, our campsite was below the campground road, and I almost had the manual jack in the fully retracted position to get the trailer leveled when it was parked where required. Some of the jacks that have the self-folding foot couldn't have readily accommodated this particular situation, so I chose this model in the rare event that I am ever forced to use the jack without the foot in place. Even with some extra effort to route and shroud the single +12 VDC power lead for reliability, it was really easy to install and I was finished in less than two hours even though I was working in the sun on a really hot driveway. My wife originally thought that this was a bit of a "luxury" item, but after she saw how fast it allowed me to unhitch and later re-hitch the trailer, she's now almost as big a fan of it as I am! 211176

Id definitely recommend this unit to anyone whos considering the purchase of a powered hitch jack. It has worked flawlessly since I installed it over a year ago, and I continue to be amazed at how it simplifies and speeds up the process of hitching and unhitching the trailer, as well as fine tuning the final level of the trailer in concert with the corner jacks. Even when the terrain is very uneven and the load leveling hitch has to be raised much more than normal to get the bars into place, this jack doesnt seem strained regardless of how high I have to lift the rear end of the hitched Grand Cherokee!

Hello- I am EXTREMELY pleased with my purchase and etrailer. Tried to write the review on the attached form but it would not go thru. Was a but nervous about the install initially but it went VERY smoothly and quickly! I simply attached a wring clip to the one attaching wire and used some shrink tubing. I do not have a heat gun so a simple match lighter was all I used to shrink the tubing at the ring clip and and the supplied in-line fuse. Simple, fast, neat! VERY pleased with the appearance, one of the nicest looking jacks in my opinion. Motor fast and quiet! I did remove the attached trailer plug storage holder and relocated it on my LP gas tank cover, LOVE that feature too! I am so happy I made this purchase- Packaging was great and shipping quite fast too!!! Thank You ! 76739

There is a white cap on the top lof the unit where the hand crank would go if needed. what is the white cap and what happened to the black one that is shown on the product in advertisementm??

comment by: Rick - 02/01/2015

The smaller black cap, closest to the LP cylinder covers, is where the manual crank would go. The white item, is actually a bubble level (not included) that the customer added to the jack. See part # HM09815

Unit arrived well-packed and in excellent condition. The mechanical installation was a breeze, the most difficult part was using the old mechanical hand-crank to jack up the front of the trailer! About 15 minutes later, I had the new jack installed and connected to a temporary battery for testing. It worked like a champ on my two-horse trailer + dressing room, and the mechanical override is easy to use - easier than to old jack it replaced! The real bear was wiring it into the existing 7-wire connector, but that's not Husky's fault, unfortunately the trailer manufacturer didn't follow the standard color code so it was a bit of trial and error before I got the right connection. But once hooked up it works great, and easily allowed my wife and daughter to attach the WD bars quickly. All in all a great product. 124236

Comments

Still running strong, my wife and daughter have had many opportunities to use it and they love how simple it makes it to connect the weight-distributing bars. Seems to be holding up well.

Nice compact unit for the weight rating. Nice features, 3 lights, trailer plug storage, adjustable foot and most importantly a limit switch for both up and down limits. It would be a nice feature if the mounting holes were drilled so that the jack could be mounted straight ahead (as drilled) with additional holes that would allow the jack to be positioned 90 degrees, either left or right (this to allow a tailgate to open fully). 87621

Comments

After more than a year the electric jack exceeds my expectations. I turned the jack 90 deg. which enabled the tailgate of my pickup to clear when trailer is hitched. This gives much easier ingress to the pickup bed. Jack is strong and the limit switches work which eliminates screw and worm drive damage on lesser jacks.Im a happy camper.

Can't go with 5 stars yet because I haven't used it to hitch up yet but I expect zero problems as the test out went as advertised. Easy to install and wire up (although I needed to buy a 3/8" ring connector to connect breaker switch to the battery--took 3 minutes:)). I had to remove the trailer power plug holder and taped up the backplate with Gorilla tape but plan to attach it elsewhere when the right location comes to me. Man, I wish I would have done this long before this. And I got the jack in 3 days, not 5-7 and received three emails along the way letting me know that it had shipped "special" and not "normal" ground and that they knew I had received it and hoped I would be happy with the product. I hope that kind of service and attention to the customer is the "new normal" because it hasn't been around for 30 years, my opinion. Hopefully the pics came out ok. Thanks for a great product and equally great customer service! 114361

The installation took only an hour. It would have been shorter but I chose to clean up existing wiring. The jack worked as soon as the wiring was complete. It is very quiet and quick and is much better than my old electric Jack. Make sure to have the proper wiring connectors before you start as they are not included in the kit and some shrink tubing can finish your job to keep out moisture . 114153

The jack was received quickly without damage and all parts were included. Installation was easy. We already had a battery installed on the trailer for the winch so the jack motor hot wire(w/fuse) was connected to the + battery terminal. To ground the jack motor we had to use a ground wire from the ground battery terminal to the aluminum trailer. I have used the jack to connect the trailer to the tow car and to lift the tow car and trailer w/ race car for correct ramp angle. The jack works very well! 134902

Comments

The jack has worked well. The issue is every once and awhile it will make a grinding noise on lifting.

Thank you very much for your feedback. Since this jack uses the roller friction design it does not require regular lubrication of the jack screw. However, it is recommend to extend the jack fully and clean the inner jack tube, then coat with a light grease or silicone spray once a year. This information is represented in the installation instructions in the maintenance section.

Jack was delivered quickly and arrived with no damage. The only problem that arose was the holes in the jack plate did not match anything on the trailer (A Big Tex utility trailer) and I had to drill new holes to bolt it down. It took about 45 minutes to mount due to drilling the holes and running a ground wire from the plug on the truck so that the truck does not have to be hooked to the trailer to power it on or have lights. 183897

Thank you for contacting me. I tore up the motor on the unit my fault and had to replace it with a 350 jack. So far everything is working fine.

I ordered this electric trailer jack Sept 1 and it was delivered Sept 4. Today is Sept 5 and it is already installed. It was easy to install and although I have not had an opportunity to use it on a trip with our new trailer it appears to be a quality piece of equipment. This is what I call excellent customer service. Only four days from ordering to delivery and it was free delivery. So far all the products I have ordered from etrailer have been top notch. 98657

Purchased the 4500 unit. Installed in about 1 hour. Fast shipping and unit works great. We have the load leveling system and this should make setup fast and smooth! Note: My LP tanks sit very close to the back of unit. I called the factory and they said just take the five screw out of the back where the electric out can be placed and it comes right off and still water tight. Remounted the electric holder on the side of shaft with zip ties. Awesome! 139265

The only thing that impressed me more than the quality of the Husky Brute 4500, was the service given to me by the staff at Etrailer.com. They answered all my questions, and followed up on my order at every step. The trailer jack was very easy to install, and has worked perfectly. It makes hitching, unhitching, and leveling a snap. I will have one of these on every trailer from now on. 62520

very easy to install - the toggle switch control was a bit confusing - when switched to the down position it raises the foot ( I guess it means down to lower the trailer not to lower the foot ) It also was a bit tight against the hard propane tank cover and when I attempted to turn the unit to the side the bolt openings would not match up - not a big deal. Really liked the protective holder for the cable althought it is a bit difficult to use being the unit was tight against the propane cover 80654

Jack still works great, it is rated for 4500 pounds and my trailer is a mobile commercial kitchen with close 8000 pound weight and it handles it without an issue. when its not in use I use 6 ton jacks to support it, but the jack handles the load without an issue. Will definitely recommend this product!

Jack came in a timely manner and was in good condition.Easy to install, circuit breaker could be a little bit clearer on hook up (line/load) The jack would not clear my tail gate when I went to put it down so I turned it 90 degrees and works great. My trailer has a 1100 lb tongue weight and jack has no problems at all.The bracket for the pig tail was a good idea and works great. 75964

A great jack. Works great lifting my 28' trailer. I had to move my propane tanks back almost 2" to clear the cover, and that was with removing the plug holder. Other than that it mounted in the same holes as the hand jack. I would recommend and buy from etrailer.com again. 136898

This jack has been performing flawlessly. We have traveled extensively over the last year and it has been used often. It has saved my back every time I use it. I use it to lift the tow vehicle hitched to the trailer when attaching the load control bars. This makes it much safer than trying to use the tool to overcome the tension. During our last trip, the trailer was parked on a very sloped driveway. When hitching up to leave, I needed to extend the jack to its upper limit to connect the load control bars. When I looked back at the vehicle I saw that its rear wheels were lifted completely off the ground. The jack did not even strain to do it. I was impressed. I also want to compliment etrailer.com on their customer service. The first jack they sent had more gear noise than I thought it should. All I did was ask if this was normal, and within a few days I received a replacement unit. No hassle. Thanks, etrailer. 243896

Received the Husky Brute HT87247 (4500 lb). When deciding which one of these to purchase I watched the product and installation videos for most of the units I was considering - also read some of the reviews. This unit made the most sense to me. Delivery was very fast and installation also took next to no time at all. It was not that long ago that I had installed the one currently on the trailer so pulling that one off and reinstalling this one took about 40 minutes. The added part to hold the trailer wiring looked like something nice to try so that is installed also and the trailer plug is in place. So far so good. I like the adjustable foot that slides up and down and saves on the run time of the unit. Could be that is why the other product I had failed and wouldn't you know - past the warranty. So far this makes the list of a product I would recommend as well as Etrailer to purchase it from. 314536

Great trailer tongue jack and super pricing from etrailer. Prompt delivery and superior service makes buying from these folks a pleasant experience. Had the Husky Brute jack on our 34' foot race car trailer (sold) and just purchased another for new 30' unit. Feature laden product with plenty of lifting power and has never let us down. Light feature comes in handy on those moonless nights and especially like the convenient hooded storage receptacle for trailer plug. Have recommended this unit to many of my racer friends and they are highly pleased with this outstanding product. Buy this Jack...and buy from etrailer! I have owned two 20' enclosed trailers that are full of either lawn equipment or construction tools. I have had electric jacks on each of them for several years now that I purchased at a local trailer dealer. One of them recently went out so I purchased an electric jack from etrailer. I never knew that my old jacks was so weak. The new jack installed in minutes and looks a lot better than any of my old ones. I cant wait until my other jack tears up so I can order me another one to replace it. I ordered it on Monday and had it on my trailer on Wednesday. If you are thinking about getting one, don't wait.....you won't be sorry. 161722

Quick bolt on, but I will weld on a bracket to allow tailgate to clear when close to straight (out of mix gas at the moment). ~ 7 inch setback. smooth, quiet operation that runs fine on 30A circuit via 7-way plug Lights are unimpressive but marginally functional Lower telescoping leg has good range and minimizes need for blocking Took LT 5 minutes to mount and another 15 to complete wiring. Love the ball bearing design. Wish they would build in the clutch release to the hand crank Be aware the hand crank in packed in the bottom/outside of the foam and would be easy to discard. One of the better models I have owned. 172402

Ordered the Husky Brute Trailer Jack on Tuesday and received it on Friday. Everything was in the box and in good shape. Installed the jack on my trailer in about an hour. It was an exact fit. I did have to take the connector stowage holder off and relocate it order to clear the gas bottle cover. Ended up installing it on the cover itself and makes a great place to hang the trailer power cord. The jack worked great and raised and lowered my trailer with no effort. This will definitely make a big difference connecting and disconnecting my trailer with the weight distribution hitch to my truck. 150747

this electric jack - purchased for a LQ horse trailer, arrived very quickly. I had it installed at a local mechanic shop and it is night and day comparison to the one it replaced which was only 5 years old. This jack is very easy to power lift with just a simple flip switch and it is soooo quiet, it is amazing. My last jack made loud machine noise, and I had to hand crank it the last 1/2 to get it off the ball. ASK me if I am pleased with the difference this new jack makes! YES x 1000 !! Thank you for a great product and customer service. I will recommend this jack to anyone! :-) 83684

The electric jack I had on my toy hauler was already giving up after a year so I needed an upgrade. The Husky is the real deal. Very easy to install. The adjustable leg is nice so I no longer need to stack chunks of wood under it when using the jack. I still place a piece of wood under it but I only need a small one. The lights on the front are a nice touch and I really like the holder for the lights/brake cable for the trailer. I no longer have to tuck it underneath stuff or worry about it getting wet or damaged. Quick shipping from etrailer made this a very pleasant experience! 221704

Purchased this to replace a much cheaper quality jack on my Work and Play toyhauler. A 3000 would have been "sufficient" but went with the 4500 for the extra capacity when hooking up the weight distribution bars on my Equalizer hitch. Install went as expected, I knew when I ordered that I would have to trim the round mounting plate slightly as the propane rack on the A-frame would interfere. A few minutes with a cut off wheel and bolted right up. So far quality seems to be good, definitely much quieter and quicker than the cheap no name jack I had on there. 150674

Great jack. disconnected electrical wire, removed three bolts, removed jack. Installed new jack with three bolts, connected wire. Had to move the trailer cable connector plug mount as it gets in the way of the propane tank cover. Made a clamp with PVC and clamped the cable holder to the jack tube. This way the cable is out of the way. 180393

Shipping was super fast, less than a week. I bought this to replace the Stromberg Carlson jack that stopped working a little over a year after I had it. Super easy to install, and I'm not very mechanically inclined. I may turn it to the side though as the back end is very tight against my propane cover, and since there are lights on the sides as well as the front I think that would actually work very well. Also, I prefer the 30 amp circuit breaker switch better than the 30 amp inline fuse that my other jack had, so much easier! 175381

Took me about 25 minutes to remove and install the Brute. I am over joyed on how this product was so easy to install in my 19ft Jayco Flight travel trailer. It lifts the trailer and my truck to install the weight distribution bars. The only thing that concerns me is that it should have some way of locking the switches so no kids can mess with it. It could be a safety issue. But overall it's a great product and I will reccomend it to my friends. Also it should come with some kind of a cover to protect the motor from the elements. 201092

WOW! What a workhorse! The factory installed 3500# electric jack would blow a fuse every time the jack hit it's upper or lower limit. What a pain! I googled power jack and found the Husky Brute 4500# on etrailer.com. after reading the reviews, I ordered one. No regrets. Installation went easy enough, the breaker reset was a major step up from the inline 30amp fuse. I was able to lift the RV higher than ever before and move up one chain link on the WD tension bar. 192375

Easy to install, just make sure you support your trailer well and chock the wheels. Safety first!! This unit was a replacement for an older unit that was getting tired and the up/dn switch failed. This company delivered in just three days with free shipping compared to many that do "free" takes 8 to 10 days or sometimes more. I will come back to this company for all my trailer needs and will make sure all my friends know to look here first. Thanks. 238503

  • Best Electric A-Frame Trailer Jack Recommendation for a 2014 Dutchmen 275BH Travel Trailer
  • In the literature for your new 2014 Dutchmen travel trailer there should be a tongue weight listed. This is the figure you will need to consider when choosing an electric tongue jack. It will increase though when the trailer is loaded so you will need to consider that as well. I looked up your trailer and it looks like the tongue weight is 280 pounds though it isn't clear if that is the dry or loaded tongue weight (likely dry). It also looks like there is limited space between the jack...

  • Power Source For Electric Trailer Jack

For a tongue weight of 1,100 pounds, you would want to go with # RP66157, 800 to 1,500 pounds tongue weight capacity. For a 2-5/16 inch ball use # 63840. I have included a link to our FAQ article on weight distribution and sway control for you. For a jack,...

  • Electric Trailer Jack Has Corroded on the Inside
  • There are several places water can get into any given jack. Water should be able to drain out though. If the exit points which would be at the lowest point are clogged then the water would not be able to exit. You could use a jack cover like # UF38-944020 for future use. There is no telling how much damage is really done. If there is enough corrosion then something inside could be structurally compromised and fail when you have weight on the jack. I would not be comfortable offering...

  • Troubleshooting Ultra-Fab Powered Trailer Tongue Jack
  • Some powered tongue jacks like the Husky Brute # HT87247 use the mounting flange that bolts to the trailer frame to make the necessary ground connection. A weak ground may allow the jack to function under some conditions but it is possible that it may not allow full current to reach the motor. Switches certainly...

  • Can an Electric A-Frame Trailer Jack be Wired to 12 Volt Circuit on 7-Way Trailer Connector
  • I have included links to 6 videos showing installations of electric trailer jacks. The one that you want is on Husky Brute Jack # HT87247. Although it is best to wire the jack to a trailer mounted battery, this video shows how you could wire it to the 12 volt circuit from a 7-Way trailer connector.

  • Electric Trailer Jack and Landing Gear Recommendations for 3 Different Trailers
  • It sounds like you have 3 heavy trailers! For the first two trailers I recommend using a landing gear set such as # UF17-943010 rated for 12,000 pounds total. Each jack has its own motor so they can be raised and lowered independently of each other which is great for keep the trailer level. For the third trailer I recommend the Husky Brute # HT87247 which is rated for 4,500 pounds. Since the jack will be mounted towards the front of the trailer it will not have to handle the total weight...

  • Choosing a New A-Frame Trailer Jack with 2-1/4-Inch Outer Tube and 2-Inch Inner Tube
  • A-frame jacks usually have 3-point attachment holes on either a round or triangular mounting plate. Examples of each are part # HT87247 from Husky and part # PS1400600303 from Pro Series. These plates are mounted on the jack's larger outer tube, often the 2-1/4-inch diameter you reference. The jack's inner tube will then be a smaller 2-inch diameter. This is a common configuration. All such jacks can be seen using the page link provided for you. You can click on the weight capacity,...
