Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Today were going to take a quick look at Dexters Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part number 845576UC3-EZ. Now this hub and drum assembly is designed to work on 3500 lb axles that are equipped with the E-Z lube spindles. It uses a 5 on 5 bolt pattern. We count our 5 lugs there, 5 studs and then we measure from the center of one stud to the center of the closes and we get 3 inches which tells us that this is a 5 on 5 pattern. Included with the drum assembly youll find the races already pressed into place inside the bore, your five conical lug nuts, a grease cap with a removable rubber plug so you can quickly access the grease zerk on the end of your spindle, a 10-19 seal and your inner and outer bearings. Your inner bearing is number L68149 and the outer bearing is L44649.

Now this drum has a gross weight capacity of 1750 lbs. When you pair it with the drum on the other side of the axle youll get your 3500 capacity. On the interior we can measure for the brake assemblies themselves. Across the inside we get our 10 inches. We take a depth.

We get about 2-1/2 inches which makes this the right size for 10 by 2-1/4 brake assembly. And thats it for a quick look at Dexters Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part number 845576UC3-EZ.

Good quality drum and bearing races were already installed so that was a chore i didnt have to deal with. I didnt care for the China brand bearing otherwise it was a good fit for my Dexter EZ lube axles.76809

Product is as advertised. 5 on 5 bolt pattern and fits a ten inch brake. Comes with what is in the picture. Note: there is no Cotter pin, nut or washer included. Should be no problem to reuse the old but if you can't you need to order separate. 37886
