Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Today were going to take a quick look at Dexters Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part number 845476UC3. This hub and drum has a 5 on 4-3/4 bolt pattern and is designed for use with 3500 lb axles. To measure the bolt pattern since we cant easily go across due to the casting, well just measure from the center of one stud to the center of the next. On this one we get 2-3/4 inches which puts us at 5 on 4-3/4 bolt pattern. The drum has a gross weight capacity of 1750 lbs. You pair it with the opposite side and youll have your 3500 lb axle capacity.
Included with the hub and drum assembly you also find the seal, 5 conical lug nuts, a grease cap, the two bearings L68149 is the inner and L44649 is the outer, and the races already pressed into place inside the bore of the drum. Now on the interior we can measure our drum assembly. On the inside we have about 2-1/2 inches of depth which is right on for our 2-1/4 brake size. Across the drum on the interior well get our 10 inches. So again, this brake drum could be used with 10 by 2-1/4 inch brake assemblies.

My project was to change my hydrolic brakes to electric, my first parts delivery was wrong but I didnt worry because e-trailer really backs up there service. After explaining my problem they went right to work to correct things and it didn't cost me any extra. The job is complete now and the brakes work great! Thank you E- Trailer.36606
