Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Today we're going to take a quick look at the Dexter Axle Trailer Hub Assembly part number 845475uc1-ez. This hub has a gross capacity of 1,750 pounds so when paired up with another it will have a total capacity of 3,500 pounds, which makes it a good application for 3,500 pound axles. There are 5 studs pressed into our hub. They're on a 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern. If we measure from the center of one stud to the center of the next we'll get a 2 3/4 inch measurement, which tells us that it's a 5 on 4 3/4 pattern. Now also included with the hub are the races that are actually already pressed in inside on either side.
You also have your grease seal, which will go at the back, and this is a double-lip 10-19 seal. There are 5 conical lug nuts for securing your wheel to the studs of the hub. You also have your inner and outer bearing. An inner bearing number L68149, an outer bearing number L44649 and a dust cap. This cap will go over the outside of the hub to keep any dirt and debris from getting inside.
But it also have a removable rubber plug that you can take out so you can access the zerk fitting on the end of your easy lube spindle. And that's it for a quick look at Dexter Axle's Trailer Hub Assembly part number 845475uc1-ez.
