E-Z Lube-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I upgraded my set up from Hydraulic to electric and required the new drum/hub assemblies. Nice kit.

by:

Perfect fit for my Dexter Model 48424 axle. Assembly was straight forward.

Appears to be a good fit with the AKEBRK-2 break kit. Still have to do a test drive and confirm breaking operation. If that goes as expected this could be 5 stars.

Needed electric brakes on my Scamper pop up camper 1997, to tow with my Subaru (needs brakes over 1 000 lbs). These fit perfectly. Easy to install and a breeze when you drive.

Thank you for asking. I am very happy with my purchase. Worked great last summer and I look forward to taking the road again with my Skamper camper and feeling secure. Have a great summer

by:

Not even 2 years after install all rusty. Electric brake pin broke due to rust.
Impossible To remove 4 bolt holding connector due To rust. I do not recommend

by:

Well after receiving 2 different hubs and unfortunately of course installed the correct one first about 45 minutes or less. Perfect fit and finish. etrailer took care of the wrong hub and when i received it took around 30 minutes to install that side. If you have general knowledge and just a bit of mechanic skill you can do it. Added brakes to my 2008 pop up camper, have driven this over 8000 miles (or more) now and has worked flawlessly. Highly recommend.

by:

I purchased a pair of these to replace the hubs on my 2001 Jayco popup camper w/Dexter axle. They arrived quickly and included everything but the grease. The races are already installed, which is great. These are EZ lube hubs, but the only difference I could see is the EZ lube dust cap and a different hub seal. I installed these on non-EZ lube spindles and used the bearing buddies I already had. eTrailer was great in addressing the one question I had, the price was great, and I got free shipping with my order over $150.

by:

New hubs were shipped immediately after ordering and arrived the next day. They fit my 2004 Viking Epic 1706 perfectly. I was able to change them out in about one hour and get on the road to Florida. I re-torqued the lug nuts and checked the hub temperature at every gas fill up and they never got warmer than the tires. Drove 1000 miles in two days with no issues. Thank you etrailer for quality parts at great prices and excellent customer service.

by:

Heavyweight and nicely machined

by:

Essentially plug and play for my previous hubs. Great quality and fit. Would purchase again.

Still going strong. No regrets. Would purchase again.

by:

Worked great and went on very easy. Feels a lot better to tow a trailer with brakes!!

by:

This is a great product for a great price. Perfect fit and easy assembly for the inexperienced. I put 5000 miles on this set immediately after install and it worked flawless with brake control.
Highly recommend etrailer products and great service.

by:

Great quality dexter product. Was a quick and easy replacement for the worn drum on my tent trailer with a 3000lb dexter axle.

by:

Fairly priced and it came one day sooner than expected. Very satisfied with the service so far. I’ll post an update when I get to try the parts I purchased.

Thank you ETRAILER!

by:

Well made, fast shipping, everything just as it should be. Thanks etrailer!

I ordered two of these. They arrived quickly and works perfectly.

Ive had these brakes for a year now. I am still pleased with them. Although I did have trouble with the Drivers side unit at first. I could not eliminate a squeak when applying the brakes. eTrailer worked with me to resolve the problem. They sent me a total one side replacement. I recently completed a 300 miles trip with the camper and the brakes worked perfectly. No more squeak.

by:

Good product. I installed on my 2009 Jayco 1007 pop up and they worked. Always a plus. Received in about a week.

  • Replacement Brake Drum for a 1998 StarCraft 2408 Pop Up Trailer
When trying to find the correct drum brakes, a measurement of the inside drum diameter and the depth of the drum will be needed. See attached picture. The drum that you referenced, # 8-173-16UC3, measures 7 inches in diameter and 1-3/4 inches deep. Also this drum will have a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. If your drum has this measurement and your current shoes measures 1-1/4 inches wide, then this will be the correct part and work it well for your pop up camper. I have also attached an article...
