Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2013 Toyota Corolla - Curt

Today on our 2013 Toyota Corolla well be installing the Curt Hitch, part number C11265. This is what our hitch will look like once its installed. Next well go ahead and give you a couple measurements to assist your selecting accessories for your new hitch such as a ball mount, bike rack or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 4-3/4 inches. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 11 inches. Now to begin our install well first go ahead and point out the attachment points. Well have a total of four attachment points. These attachment points are weld nuts built into the frame by the manufacturer.

Now before we attempt to install the hitch and the new hardware supplied with the hitch well want to clean out each one of these attachment points. To clean them out we use a half inch nylon tool brush, part number 814092. Well spray down the weld nuts and then thoroughly clean it out with the tool brush. To verify that we have cleaned it out well go ahead and take one of the new 12mm bolts and thread it into the weld nut to make sure itll go nice and easily. Now that we have all the weld nuts cleaned out were ready to install the hitch. Well be securing the hitch with the new 12mm bolt and a half inch conical tooth washer. The teeth of the washer will face the hitch.

Well install each fastener finger tight until we have them all in place. Now with all of our fasteners in place we can go ahead and run them down. Next well torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Keep in mind that each process we do here on one side well repeat identically on the opposite side. Now with our hitch secured and torqued to specifications were ready to hit the road. That does it for the install of the Curt 1-1/4 Inch Receiver Tube Hitch, part number C11265 on our 2013 Toyota Corolla. .

I received my Curt Trailer hitch for the sole purpose of mounting into the rear of my wife's 2012 Toyota Corolla SE in order to mount the Thule Doubletrack Bike Rack that we ordered June 2013 and had been using on the rear of truck. To save fuel to and from our biking destinations we order the Curt Class I hitch for her Toyota. It arrived on the estimated date of delivery. Immediately removed it from the cardboard box it was and with the included bolts and washers I installed in literally five minutes time. My wife helped me hold it place while I hand-threaded the bolts into place. With a 19mm, 3/8" drive socket and a 9" extension (needed to reach between the tailpipe and the frame up to the bolts on the passenger side...driver's side done with just the socket). I torqued it to the specified 85 foot pounds of torque with a 3/8" torque wrench and I was done. The hitch looked great by itself, and mounting the rack into the hitch was a cinch and looked great also. On a side note...the Thule Double Rack Bike Rack also purchased earlier from Etrailer when folded up, does not interfere with view of the brake and taillights. As a repeat customer, I was also given Express Customer Service, and my order was literally on it way out for delivery within two hours of placing my order. Etrailer.com has been awesome to work with, and they have become my go-to source for all things trailer-related. Thank you Etrailer.com. :) 124022

First and foremost a kudos goes to Christy B. for handling my order by telephone with skill, courtesy, and aplomb. A tip of the hat goes to all the staff behind the scenes to make this operation so smooth. This hitch for a 10th generation Toyota Corolla is precisely manufactured and painted. Installation with the included hardware was a breeze. Note: If your Corolla is equipped with a custom or aftermarket exhaust such as the well made Borla cat-back kit, the rear hanger standoff might interfere with the right side hitch bracket. Suggest checking and if necessary devise a minimal work around. As most know, paint quality is only part of the equation. Base metal prep is important and I will assume I should not be concerned. 159288

Super easy to install, just four screws and ready. I already use for my bike rack and is ideal for on and off. I highly recommend. 112039

I ordered this hitch for my 2014 Corolla for use with my Swagman XC bike rack. I am pleased with the quality of this hitch, it is much heavier duty than I expected. It bolted up easily with the supplied hardware and looks great. Hardly noticeable. The bike rack fits perfectly. Now I am ready to hit the trails. 143553

I bought this recently because my 96 Ranger became unsafe to drive...frame rust among other things. I still need to haul things so I put the hitch on my Corolla, and with a new light trailer, am back in business. The slotted holes made installation easy. Because of the age of my car [06] it had a lot of corrosion and debris in the nut holes so I had to buy a tap [$5 at a big box store] and clean them out before installing. The round tubing is sleek and unobtrusive. The only negative; the receiver tube had a light burr on two sides, probably from the cut off process during manufacturing, so I had to use a flat file about ten strokes to allow the ball mount to slide in 160085

The Curt trailer hitches are consistently my favorites. And etrailer consistently offers the best prices out there. I install the Curt hitches myself, and Curt makes it easy. On older Toyotas you may need a tap to clean up the threads. Curt also improves their product over time, e.g., I've installed two hitches on 2008 Corollas, and the most recent hitch was better designed than the first one because they reconfigured it to make tightening the bolts easier and more accessible. My only complaint is that one of the bolts that came with the hitch had the wrong thread count, and I had to drive 30 minutes to a hardware store to buy a replacement. 181206

The entire process couldn't have been easier! Placed my order on Wednesday and got an email that the billing address hadn't been changed on my card yet ( I just bought a farm and had forgotten to change that one) talked to them girls etrailer Thursday morning, correcting my error, and my order was in my hands on Friday. A++++ service 144505

The hitch appears well made and was super easy to install. 86 foot pounds of torque is required to tighten the 4 bolts into the car frame so Popeye-sized muscle is required. The wiring T-connecter was also easy to install. Make sure you order the correct hitch (I goofed and accidentally ordered a hitch for a Scion). That was a $50 mistake in return UPS fees. I still have not received reimbursement for the returned hitch. Their order shipping was fast. Come on eTrailer, credit my return! 151826

Product arrived on time, with excellent packing. Fit perfectly. The longest part of the installation was finding my 19mm socket which I had left where I would always remember where it was, but once I found it I installed the hitch in about 5 minutes. I am using it to put a bike rack on which I haul my moms wheelchair on. 145784

Shipping was free and fast. The product was well packaged and in perfect condition. I never saw better instructions! Color pictures of my exact vehicle plus every help I needed. Also very few companies even carry a hitch for a Toyota Corolla. It is well constructed and I thought a fair price. 166909

The hitch arrived quickly and was easy to install. it appears to be well made with a nice finish. Pay attention to the instructions for installing. The bolt holes in the frame of my 2 year old car were very rusty and needed to be wire brushed extensively before the bolts would thread in 190506

This one, I installed it in 4 1/2 minutes. The four way electric wiring clipped into the tail lights in two minutes. I spent about thirty minutes exposing the wire access. This was the easiest install yet. I have installed three Curt trailer hitches so far. All of them fit perfectly. 140848

Excellent quality. Easy to install and very simple to operate. The bike rack, when folded up, barely adds 6 inches to the back of the car, and is rock solid with a couple of bikes loaded. 191291

Do you have a question about this Trailer Hitch?

  • Auxiliary Stabilization Straps for a Bike Rack and a Class I Hitch on a 2007 Toyota Corolla
  • On some Curt hitches, like the part you asked your question on, you will find that warning. These are smaller, lighter hitches that can bend with the use of a bike rack or cargo carrier. The idea is to run a strap from the top of the bike rack upright or the arm to the frame or to the trunk/hatch on the car to prevent it from bending down. We do offer some hitches for your 2007 Toyota Corolla that do not require an auxiliary stabilization strap. The Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch, part #...

  • Does Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24913 Include Ball Mount, Pin and Clip
  • You are correct that the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24913 includes a ball mount, hitch pin and clip. Also the Hidden Hitch receiver # 60345 for your 2014 Toyota Corolla includes these same components. The Curt hitch # C11265 includes the pin and clip, but not the ball mount. Please note that the availability of hitches for any given vehicle does not necessarily mean that vehicle can tow a trailer. I was not able to verify any tow rating for your Corolla. Your owners...

  • Receiver Hitch Recommendation for a 2008 Toyota Corolla LE
  • You are correct, the Curt, Draw-Tite, and Hidden Hitch receiver hitches all look very similar and also offer the same weight capacities. Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch are actually sister companies so their hitches are pretty close to identical. The biggest difference between the three brands of receiver hitches for your 2008 Toyota Corolla is the fact that the Curt, # C11265, requires the use of stabilizing straps, # 18050, for all non-trailer loads like bike racks, cargo carriers and so...

  • Hitch and Roof Rack Recommendations for 2013 Toyota Corolla
  • You would need to start with the hitch. I would recommend the Curt Class I receiver, part # C11265. Although the hitch has a towing capacity of 2000 lbs, my research indicates that the Corolla is limited to towing 1500 lbs. Therefore, you will need to ensure that the fully loaded weight of your trailer does not exceed 1500 lbs. You will also need the appropriately sized trailer ball for your coupler, part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 19258 for a 2 inch ball. You will also need...

I attached an install video for you to check out as well. For trailer wiring you would want the Curt Wiring Harness part # 55542, ball mount # C45521, 1-7/8 inch ball part # 19256, 2 inch ball part # 19258.

Curt states that only their hardware should be used with this hitch because that is the only hardware that it has been tested with. For this hitch the recommended ball mount is the part # C45521. For a 2 inch ball you would then want the part # A-82 and then for trailer wiring you would want the part # 118459.

No drilling is required, and no modifications will be required other than removing the tow hook if it's present. No welding is required, in fact the hitch warranty would be voided if it were welded or otherwise installed...
