Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2013 Toyota Corolla - Hidden Hitch

Today, on our 2013 Toyota Corolla, we'll be installing hidden hitch one and a quarter inch receiver tube hitch, part number 60200. This is what your hitch will look like, once it's installed. Next, we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements to assist your selecting accessories for your new hitch, such as a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole, to the outermost edge of the bumper, is three and a half inches. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground, is eleven and a half inches. Now, to begin our install, we'll first go ahead and point out the attachment points. We'll have a total of four attachment points, two on each side. These attachment points are weld nuts, built into the frame by the manufacturer.

Now, before we attempt to install the hitch, we'll want to clean out our attachment points, because over time, the threads of the weld nuts will build up with rust, dust, dirt and debris, and make it difficult to install the new fasteners. To clean them out, we'll use some spray lubricant, and a half inch nylon tube brush, part number 814092. Then, once our weld nuts are thoroughly cleaned out, we'll go ahead and take one of the new twelve millimeter bolts, and thread it into the weld nut, to make sure it'll go nice and easily. We're ready to install the hitch. It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while you install the fasteners. We'll use the new twelve millimeter bolt, along with a half inch conical tooth washer, the teeth of the washer will face the hitch. We'll thread each one of the fasteners into the weld nuts finger tight, until we have them all in place. Then, once they're all in place, we can go ahead and tighten it down. And then, torque to specifications, as indicated in the instructions.

Keep in mind, each process we do here on one side, we're going to repeat it identically on the opposite side. Now, with our hitch secured and torqued to specification, we're ready to hit the road. And that'll complete the install of our hidden hitch, part number 60200, on our 2013 Toyota Corolla. .

Ordered hitch Saturday and received it following Thursday. Seems to be very solid with a good finish to keep it from rusting. Ran into a problem while mounting it on my son's 2007 Corolla. I expected the threads on the embeded nuts in the frame to be in a bad, rusty condition due to the Michigan winters but I thought a thread restoring (chasing) tool I have would fix that problem and it did for one of the four nuts but it broke off on the second nut. Since I didn't want to deal with extracting the thread chasing tool from the nut, I took the car to a nearby service garage and they managed to install the hitch. The spot weld keeping that nut in postion broke and they were able to slip a new nut into the frame from a hole in the top. They used a regular taping tool to open up the threads on the remaining two nuts instead of a thread chasing tool like I tried. It would be beneficial if the bolt diameter and thread pattern (e.g. m12 x 1.25) for the Corolla would have been listed on-line so I could have tried restoring the thread before ordering the hitch (I had the option of installing a hitch on a more recent car) My son installed the trailer wiring on the 2007 Corolla without any problems. 48030

Second Hidden Hitch I have installed. Now I have them on both my Toyotas(Sienna and now Corolla). Very solidly built! I am excited to connect my Kuat bike rack to either of the cars. Etrailer is great and both my Hidden hitches have never let me down. They are also easy to install. The 1st one I installed with a friend but this one I did by myself in less than 30 minutes! Thanks etrailer for the good instructions online! 117122

Still love them on both my cars! They just work great and look great even after a year. Thank you etrailer and Hidden Hitch!

This is my second one. We have the same thing on our other Toyota Corolla. Don't think you are going to just throw this hitch on in 15 minutes. The bolts fit tight and it took a cheater bar to get them in, but I know it's on there solid. We use it for our bicycle rack. The only way to carry them. 137425

I still works great.

The Hidden hitch 60200 was back ordered from the factory, but my order was still shipped and received in just a few days. It was every thing it was advertised to be and arrived in great condition. I had watched the installation video prior to receiving the hitch so I had already prepared the mounting holes in the frame. Installation was a snap! It only took 15 minutes start to finish and it looks great. I was very pleased with the contact from Etrailer to keep me informed of my order status. 191625

Easily installed The Hidden Hitch was easily installed and was a perfect fit. When installing the hitch I suggest starting a bolt with your fingers at one end and doing the same diagonally at the other end. Continue tightening a few turns and add the other two bolts. Tighten diagnoally a few turns at a time to avoid binding the hitch. I used a 19mm socket 1/2 drive with a 10" extension to clear the tailpipe. Installation ws less than 30 minutes using no lift or other help. 884

This is an excellent product. Installation was very easy, especially after watching the little video that came with the product. Took a bit of time cleaning out the holes where the screws go on the car, but the rest of the installation went very smoothly. Looks nice on the car. The price was awesome. The packaging was perfect. Am very pleased with everything about this product. Will encourage my friends and acquaintances to buy from etrailer.com. Thank You very much. 100353

Install of the hitch would have been a piece of cake except that two of four of the nut plates in the frame were rusty (six year old Corolla). It took a couple of hours soaking in "Liquid Wrench" before I was able to get the bolts to tighten against the hitch. It would have gone quicker if I had a metric tap to clean the rust out of the holes. Here is a possible product idea for etrailer; sell a metric tap to go with the metric bolts... 22076

This trailer hitch is built tough and looks great on my '09 Corolla. My wife was concerned it would look like a tow truck when I put the hitch on the car but after it was installed she could barely even tell it was there. Awesome exact fit and SO easy to install. I timed the installation and it actually took me longer to get my tools together than it did to install the hitch. I did it by myself - it was a breeze !!! 35707

Nice fit and easy to install. Did the installation by myself. Backed my car out to where there is a little rise where the garage cement ends and the diveway starts. Really have to clean out the screw holes good. Only had to use one tool. Didn't track the time. It was about 30-40 minutes while taking my time. 80878

Excellent service. Ordered on Saturday, arrived Wednesday morning. Cleaned out my 2010 bolt holes and installation went just like video. Didn't need to jack up car. Supported hitch under car on box it came in to make it easier to lift into place. 38669

Do you have a question about this Trailer Hitch?

  • Auxiliary Stabilization Straps for a Bike Rack and a Class I Hitch on a 2007 Toyota Corolla
  • On some Curt hitches, like the part you asked your question on, you will find that warning. These are smaller, lighter hitches that can bend with the use of a bike rack or cargo carrier. The idea is to run a strap from the top of the bike rack upright or the arm to the frame or to the trunk/hatch on the car to prevent it from bending down. We do offer some hitches for your 2007 Toyota Corolla that do not require an auxiliary stabilization strap. The Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch, part #...

  • Will Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 60200 Fit a 2010 Toyota Corolla S
  • Both the Draw-Tite Hitch, # 24814, and the Hidden Hitch, # 60200, install exactly the same way and have the same design. They even share the same set of instructions, linked for you to view. According to the instructions there should be no trimming involved and it should fit below the rear fascia. It will look just like the Draw-Tite when installed which you can view on the product page for # 24814. The Hidden Hitch comes with the ball mount, pin and clip. For a ball, use # 19256 (1-7/8...

  • Receiver Hitch Recommendation for a 2008 Toyota Corolla LE
  • You are correct, the Curt, Draw-Tite, and Hidden Hitch receiver hitches all look very similar and also offer the same weight capacities. Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch are actually sister companies so their hitches are pretty close to identical. The biggest difference between the three brands of receiver hitches for your 2008 Toyota Corolla is the fact that the Curt, # C11265, requires the use of stabilizing straps, # 18050, for all non-trailer loads like bike racks, cargo carriers and so...

  • Most of what is visible is the receiver tube where you would slide the bike rack into the hitch. I have added a link to the hitch instructions that have a drawing of the bumper fascia in relation to the hitch so you can get a better idea of where the hitch sits. Hitches usually do not hurt the resale value of a vehicle, unless it is a sports car like a Mustang or Corvette. There are so many accessories that can be used with a hitch, usually it is a welcome addition. If you decide...

  • Can I Install the Hitch from My 1997 Toyota Corolla onto my 2004 Carolla
  • To put a hitch on your 2004 Toyota Corolla Sedan you would need a Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch for the Toyota Corolla, 2004, part # 60200. If your newer Corolla was from the years 1993-2002 you could reuse the hitch from your 1997 Corolla, but the 2004 has a differently designed frame from your 1997 that would not allow you to install the hitch onto your 2004.
