Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The hitch arrived quickly and even thought the box was mangled on one end, everything inside was fine. I installed the hitch by myself in my driveway on a 12 year old Outback. I did have to remove/lower, the emissions box and bracket, ( the two bolts holding the bracket on were very rusty, but I finally got them out without anything breaking) just to get the one side of the hitch in place, but everything fit perfectly. I actually held the hitch up with one knee and put the first bolt through the tie down loop to hold it and from there on it was easy to insert the special nuts inside the frame and finish bolting it on. I used an anti-seize compound on all the nuts and bolts, in case I ever want to remove the hitch. I also cut the ends off the special nuts, because they were sticking out of the frame holes and I wanted to put the rubber plugs back in. The tailpipe just touches the hitch where it goes over it, which really isn't a problem, but I may try to lift the muffler a little so it clears completely. The wiring harness was a simple plug in, by the left tailight, but a little tricky to get it to run out of the car. There actually was an oval rubber body plug up under the fender that you can just barely see from inside, and you can feel from outside, that I popped out and put a hole in for the wiring harness to go through. It was also a little tricky to get back in place with the wires in it, but it ended up working out nicely. It really was an easy install, my only problems came from rust, on an older car. The whole thing fit nicely and is tucked under the car out of the way. I then towed a 1100 lb. trailer on a 700 mile trip into Canada and back, and the hitch worked fine. 22354

92 Subara Legacy L Hitch fit excellent. Took less than 30 minutes to install. Two 1/2" holes need to be drilled into frame. Very satisfied with etailer's price and products.5519

Ordered this hitch for my '98 Outback wagon. It arrived very quickly, sooner than I was expecting, about 5 days. The box was in good shape as we're the contents. Hardware was taped to the hitch in a separate bag. I chose this particular hitch as the brace that goes under the exhaust is tighter up to the exhaust, compared for instance, to the Curt. It only took me about an hour to Install, and was easier than the instructions said. I was concerned about the clearance of the tailpipe after reading another review, but I had about an inch of clearance with no changes to anything. I did not have to lower the exhaust or cut the heat shield as the instructions said I might, I belive this is for the newer gen Outback. I did have to lower end, haunted canister and hanger. Even the drilling was simple. Just bolt up the sides to full tightness and drill right through the holes, no need to mark anything. You will have to undo this again to finish install, but super easy. Thanks to Etrailer for the quick delivery, and constant contact availability. Cheers, Erik33326

installed without too much difficulty, it helped to have an extra set of hands. one of the square washer/tabs on the charcoal canister needed to be replaced with a normal round washer in order for it to fit around the hitch, no big deal. powdercoat is tight on the receiver, my ball hitch wouldn't fit in at first. Again no big deal i'm happy with the hitch for my '99 legacy outback, price can't be beat and etrailer is awesome with communication and information.48059

Installed with no problems on my 96 Subaru Legacy Outback wagon. The most difficult part is drilling the two half-inch holes, which really isn't that bad except I did it lying on my back and all the hot metal shavings fell on my arms. Took me a leisurely total of 90 minutes.45810

Hitch for 2002 Subaru Outback I was very impressed with the service and the product! Etrailer.com shipped my hitch, for free I might add, and it arrived a day earlier than expected. Installation was a breeze. Saved me hundreds of dollars over a Uhaul installation! Thanks Etrailer.com!!5112

The trailer hitch arrived exactly on time. The box was mangled but everything was well attached to the hitch so it was all there. The hitch fit perfectly-almost. It was too wide for the car's tow hooks by about 1/4". I grabbed two thick washers and put them in just the right place and all is well. Since you didn't make the hitch, I guess the issue was the the car company or the hitch company who measured wrong. Thanks.18878
