Today on our 2012 Dodge Durango well be installing the Curt hitch part #: C13182. This is what our hitch will look like once its installed. Next well go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 4 and a quarter inches. From the top of the inside of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 14 and three quarter inches. This will assist you with selecting accessories such as a ball mount, a bike rack or a cargo carrier.
Now lets go ahead with the installation. Note, weve already gone ahead and lowered and removed the spare tire for the ease and installation of the hitch, however it is not required. Keep in mind when we install the hitch each process we do here on the driver side will get repeated identically on the passenger side. The hitch will have four attachment points. These attachment points will be hardware that is already in the frame by the manufacturer.
There are two bolts in the side of the rear frame. Well remove the two bolts on each side for a total of four attachment points for this hitch. Once we have the hardware removed were ready to go ahead and put the hitch in place. Its a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while you reinstall the manufacturers hardware. Now with all our hardware installed finger tight well go ahead and tighten it down.
Next, well torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. And with our hitch secured and torqued to specifications thatll complete the install of our Curt hitch part #: C13182 on our 2012 Dodge Durango.

I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This hitch just bolted in. It really helps to have a second set of hand only to help hold the hitch in place. Install is 10 minutes after you find your torque wrench. Great instructions. Even better support from eTrailer.com 79558

Took only about 30 minutes or so to install. An additional person is helpful to help support while attaching. I didn't have to lower the spare tire, but it would have made it slightly easier if I had. Overall. Quick, easy and inexpensive. 79137

This Curt hitch had the Best installation instructions I have ever seen for ANY product...tool list, time estimate, color photographs, they really took the time and effort in putting that together. As far as the install, there is enough clearancen the Durango to just lay on your back in the driveway. I did not move the spare tire so you will also need an open end wrench as well as the 22mm socket. I had my 15 year old son help and we completed the job in under 30 minutes.41904

Easy Peasy! I have a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Instructions state about 10 minutes to install. It took me about 20 minutes (including gathering my tools, creeper, etc.). Ordered the Curt hitch and wiring for my 2011 Durango. Putting the hitch on was as simple as can be. Wiring took about an hour as you need to fish the main black line under the car and into the engine compartment. This is a little difficult in newer cars. Very happy with speed of delivery and how I was kept informed on progress of shipment. Thanks35976
