Today were working on 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Well be installing a Curt Hitch part number 13251. Here are couple of measurements that will assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost part of the bumper is approximately 2inches and from the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 17inches. This will assist you in selecting accessories such as a drawbar, a bike rack or a cargo carrier. Now lets go ahead with the installation.
Our first step is going to be removing the spare tire of the vehicle. Well need to lower and remove the tire to gain access and install our hitch. After that, if you ever have any tow hooks on the vehicle, you go ahead and remove those. Our application does not. Let me need to go ahead and loosen the bumper cover.
In order to that, weve got a total of four fasteners that come from underneath, two on the driver side and two on the passenger side. And we also got two large fasteners that attach the bumper fascia to the frame or remove those. Theres one on the driver side, identical one on the passenger side also. To remove the tabs, just taking a flat head screwdriver to loosen them up and then a tab removal tool where you can continue to use a screwdriver to pull the tabs out. All right theres a two on the bottom side for the driver side, not lets get the one on the top.
With the three removed on the driver side, Ill go on ahead repeat the same process on the passenger side. To install our hitch, with a total of four bolts identical to this one and conical tooth washer with the teeth of the washer will face the hitch, now go ahead and raise our hitch up into position so it fit right around the frame of the vehicle. The reason we took those push tabs out is so we can push the bumper cover backwards to get our hitch into position. Let us put our fasteners in finger tight it this time. Ok, with all four of our fasteners installed, we can go ahead and run them down.
With all four of our fasteners tightened down, we can go ahead and torque the specifications as indicated in the instructions. With our hitch tightened down the specification, we can go ahead and reinstall all of our push pins. That will complete the installation of our Curt Hitch part number 13251.

Very easy installation. I did not need to remove bumper like it said in the instructions, maybe that is for a different model. Excellent company to deal with. My order was shipped within hours of ordering (on a Sunday), and arrived 3 days later. I bought the wiring harness that attaches to the tail lights and was done with everything in about 40 minutes (that was after removing the bumper and realizing it did not need to come off).. 30913

Bought this hitch as well as the plug in wiring kit for my jeep. Great quality and it fit perfectly. It almost takes longer to crank the spare tire down and back up than it does to bolt up the hitch! I had an excellent experience with my etrailer purchase and installation. The hitch arrived in two days, ahead of schedule. It was easy to install, primarily because of the on-line video which was very clear. Done in 20 minutes. Only point of confusion is that the sticker on the package said the hitch was for a Grand Cherokee Rocky Mountain Edition, which mine is not but the part number was correct and it fit well. 53222

Ordering was simple and it shipped the next day. Getting the spare tire out took longer than insalling the product. Installation was so easy that I thought I might have done something wrong (but I didn't). Almost forgot to talk about the great price. This was a very good investment. Did not like the look of the factory hitch comming through the back bumper of the 2007 jeep grand cherokee .Easy too install, compact and heavy duty. Glad I found etrailer! Very easy Installation and only took 20 or so minutes with dropping the spare and removing only 4 push screws. This hitch Is pretty heavy duty and heavy so I'm pretty confident with the overall product. I purchased the wiring harness here as well, and that also was a very easy Installation. I called about 4 or 5 places that Install hitches and all had a price that was double of what I spent here. Im no mechanic but this was one easy project.1613

Easy - once you figure it out I have the drivers side rr tow hook - Takes a little longer to remove bracket - Make sure to have 18mm deep well socket - very tight with adjustable wrench! Spare does have to be lowered and hook (not bracket) can be reattached - Powerwash underside rear before project!!! 1138

This hitch fits my 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo perfectly. This hitch mounts under the bumper and does not require any cutting of the rear bumper cover. Installation was a breeze, requiring dropping the spare, removing 2 retainers for the bumper cover, bolting the 4 bolts and checking the torque on the bolts.
