Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Honda Element

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Honda Element

Okay we are going to do an install on a Honda element using part number 24720. We will take out all the spare tire and the plastic so we can actually do the install. Okay we will go ahead and clean out the trunk area and then get down to the spare tire and take that apart. What well do next is tighten this down just enough to snug it to hold it in place, and then well see where to drill or holes out using the hitch as a template.

We will use the hitch as a template to drill or holes, so well just use a drill and let the hitch do the work for us, we will punch right through this thin metal with a half-inch bit. Now we are back inside the vehicle here, we will go ahead and apply sealant to the holes to keep exhaust fumes from coming into the cabin. We will put a simple circle around it then put the bolts through and then go back underneath and start tightening them down. All right, now we will go tighten them back up.

Well take our torque wrench and torque these down, and these down to their proper torque settings and that will pretty much be it. When we torque these bolts down sometimes it might help to have an assistant use an adjustable wrench or nice set of adjustable pliers to hold the blocks in place while we torque them down. We got a guy on top holding them down and we will go ahead and torque them. And that pretty much covers it for the install of that hitch

I have not yet mounted the trailer hitch draw bar and wiring for my Honda Element. BUT I have to acknowledge the superb customer service that I've received during and after my purchase on etrailer.com. Just as an example - on the page where I am typing this, there are links to a video of how to mount the equipment I purchased, plus a .pdf file of instructions, and a "Beginner's Guide for Towing." video. How freaking cool is that for customer support?45325

The order was delivered a couple days ahead of time and we went out of town for the weekend. I haven't put it on as yet but it seems to be a real easy installation. It's adequate for the bike rack and light towing I'll be doing. The vehicle isn't up to a heavier (wt) receiver anyway. 15674

  • Can a 2010 Honda Element EX 4WD be Flat Towed Behind an RV/Motorhome
  • According to my research, the 2010 Honda Element is flat towable as is. You will still want to consult the vehicle owners manual for any additional specific information on towing the vehicle. Roadmaster does offer a set of base plates for the 2010 Element, except for SC models. The base plate kit I would recommend is the Roadmaster XL Style Kit, part # 1541-3. Roadmaster has a large offering of tow bars as well. I have added a link to the options compatible with XL style base plates. Yo

  • Is a 1-1/4 to 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter Recommended for Use with a 2 inch Cargo Carrier
  • I would discourage the use of an adapter for use of 2 inch accessories in 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receivers. The reason is that the adapter places the carrier farther away from the rear of the vehicle and hitch, creating additional torque that 1-1/4 inch hitches, especially Class I hitches, are not designed to handle. For this reason all 1-1/4 to 2 inch hitch adapters decrease the hitch or vehicle tongue weight capacity, whichever is lowest, by 50 percent, making a class one hitch only capab

  • Will Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24720 Fit a 2002 Honda CR-V
  • Yes, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 24720, will fit a 2002 Honda CR-V. It will actually fit several vehicles, including the Honda Element shown in the video. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. If you wanted to do some towing, I would go with a higher capacity hitch since the vehicle is capable of supporting one. I would go with the Hidden Hitch, # 87578, which is a Class III trailer hitch. It has a tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds and a gross trailer

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation to Tow a 1,300 Pound Utility Trailer with a 2004 Honda Element
  • The Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24720 has a capacity of 2,000 pounds. It is given this rating based on its connection points on the vehicle and testing done by the manufacturer. The connection points on the vehicle for this hitch can handle the 1,300 pounds. The bolts in the spare tire well will also require the included support blocks that distribute the weight to a wider area beyond where they are attached on the vehicle. What I recommend to give you piece of mind is to go with a more sto

  • Class III Trailer Hitch with a 2 Inch Receiver for a 2002 Honda CR-V
  • There are Class III trailer hitches available of the 2002 Honda CR-V. I have included a link to them for you to view. You would need to remove a factory hitch if installed on the vehicle to install a new 2 inch receiver. Also you will want to consult the owners manual of the vehicle to determine the tongue weight capacity and do not exceed it, even if the hitch is rated higher. For a bike rack, cargo carrier, and similar accessories, I recommend the Hidden Hitch trailer hitch, # 87578. I have
