This fully welded, corrosion-resistant Ford Taurus X trailer hitch receiver is perfect for your light-duty towing needs. Draw-Tite's Tested Tough guarantee ensures that this hitch exceeds industry standards. Drawbar sold separately.
Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Today on our 2007 Ford Freestyle, we'll be installing a Draw-Tite hitch, part number 36360. Here's what our hitch looks like on our vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and give you a few measurements to help you in choosing some accessories for your hitch, such as a bicycle rack or cargo carrier. On the center hitch pin hold to the edge of the bumper is approximately three and a half inches and from the top of the opening of the receiver to the ground is approximately 14 and a half inches. Now we'll go ahead and install our hitch. To begin with, we'll need to remove the two bolts that hold the exhaust hanger on the muffler on the driver's side of the vehicle. Go ahead and use a safety strap to allow the exhaust to come down far enough that the hitch will slide into place a little easier. Remove the next exhaust hanger forward on the driver side of the vehicle. After we have the exhaust hangers removed and exhaust has been lowered out of the way, we will go ahead and need to remove the carbon canister that is on the back of the passenger side of the vehicle. To do this, there are two bolts as well as two nuts that need to be removed. Now we need to use our fish wire and thread our half inch carriage bolt with our quarter inch by one inch by three inch spacer block into place. Once you have this one in place, we also need to go ahead and use the fish wire to thread our half inch carriage bolt and our quarter inch by inch by two inch spacer block into the hole that's just up from the exhaust hanger. Now that we have these two carriage bolts in place, you might want to go ahead and get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch up in place. Once you have the hitch held in place, go ahead and pull the carriage bolt back through the frame and through the hitch using the fish wire. Once you have this in place, use the conical tooth washer and the half inch nut with the teeth facing towards the hitch when installing these bolts.
Don't completely tighten them down yet until we have all the hardware installed. On the passenger side, there are three M3 thread-forming bolts that will be used with conical tooth washer to thread into existing unthreaded weld nuts. Now we'll need to go ahead and take the exhaust hanger bracket that we removed earlier and we need to cut a small section of it off, the end that would be the hook part that ties into the rear of the vehicle's frame needs to be removed either with a cutoff wheel, a hacksaw, or some other method to cut the metal. Once you have this removed, now we're ready to use the two M8 bolts that we're supplied with the kit. To do this, you will put the bolts through the exhaust hanger, through the hitch, and back into the frame. Now you can go ahead and tighten the bolts and torque them to the manufacturer specification. One note to remember here is that the three different bolt sizes have three different torque settings per the manufacturer specification. Now we need to reinstall the exhaust. Finally we'll need to go ahead and reattach the carbon canister that we removed earlier. Now that we have all the hardware torqued to the manufacturer's specification, that will complete the installation of our Draw-Tite hitch partner number 36360 on our 2007 Ford Freestyle. .

The hitch was a perfect fit, allowing for plenty of room around exaust and the ball. Instructions were straight forward and simple. I inventoried the supplied nuts and bolts and found everything to be there. I did note that the instructions stated to use a fish wire to manipulate the bolts into position, so I made a fish wire that was marginal at best. One bolt on each side (the side, horizontal bolts) I had to fish through with a magnet. I see that others stated the job took about 40 minutes. From that I estimated about 2 hours and ended up a little more than that. Having done it once I could see not taking more than 40 minutes if I had to do it again. After I finished I looked closely at two odd pieces of wire meshed together and intertwined that had been with the nuts and bolts. There was the supplied fish wire! Since it was not mentioned in the supplied parts sheet I ignored them. Made of fine piano wire they would have worked great. Outside of this, things went fine and was not disappointed in anyway. If it's your first time on this specific application expect a little longer time installing than listed. 52721
I received this hitch today only 3 days after placing the order and got free shipping to boot. The hitch came with all the necessary hardware. It fit my 2008 Taurus perfectly, all the holes lined up. The video on this website was very helpful with installation. I installed the hitch myself in the driveway on a warmish November day. There was no need to jack the car up, there is lots of room under the rear of this car. No special tools were required, although a long ratchet extension is very helpful. I used wooden blocks to prop the exhaust in place after removing it from the hangers. The most time consuming part was cutting the threads in the weld nuts on the passenger side. I completed this using only a socket wrench and the bolts supplied. An impact gun would have been nice. The product fits well and looks great. Its a true hidden hitch. All that is visible from the rear of the vehicle is the hole to install the receiver. I highly recommend this product. 26576

I have a late 2009 Ford Tarus-X and I'm almost 66 years old with a bad back. It took me approximately 2 hours to install with no help. What I needed most was 5 fish wires instead of 2 ,along with an extenshion, a small floor jack and and a can of spray lubricatant. The hitch is extreamely well engineered to fit precisely. I also put on the recommended wiring kit, it was almost too easy. I saved enough on the shipping and tax to almost pay for the hitch and the assories I purchased. I could not be more happy with e-trailer , for thier excellent service and thier quality products. 26604

Easy install w/right tools I picked one of the hottest and most humid Florida afternoons to install the hitch. Working by myself it took approx. 1.5 hours, and a gallon of tea. The instructions included with the hitch are not so easy to follow, so I used my laptop to watch the eTrailer installation video to guide me. I purchased an inexpensive air impact wrench and sockets to aid me with the self threading bolts. Very easy job with the right tools! 3094
Great hitch, long install time The hitch is very hidden and looks like it will perform for years to come. The installation, however, took much longer than the 50 minutes advertised. It took me 4 hours. Most difficult part was getting the hitch in place and using the self-threading bolts. But, I was able to get it all done with simple garage tools. Oh, I didn't have a helper so this was a one-man install...perhaps why it took so long! 2191

Great price, tough installatio This is a great price for an entry level hitch. Everything is perfect, except that the installation was difficult. However, that was mostly due to the nature of the car and not the hitch. If you're going to install this, be sure to use an impact wrench on the passenger side. That's the only way those bolts can be properly attached with minimal use of profanity 2341

Follow the video instructions and installation could not be easier! I installed this in my garage and had the car slightly raised using floor jacks on either side. Only problem I had was hefting the tow bar in place and holding it while gettting the bolts started, while I was laying on the floor - so I set up a jig (stand) to hold up the tow bar on one end while I bolted the other in place. 56140
Easy I was surprised at how quick we installed this. Me and my buddy took maybe 30-40 minutes. We took out time. I only needed him to hold it up while I started the bolts. The fishing of the bolts was much simpler than I thought, this was the part I dreaded, and where we took our time. The fish wire was perfect, with a threaded end to hold the bolt. 1952
great price, nice hitch My hitch took about 2 hours to install if you don't count the time I spent at the hardware store buying a ten inch extension for my sockets and watching an online video of another installation. The included instructions are to criptic, thank God for the online video, an impact wrench is a must. 2964

Shipping and receiving was prompt, well made product, installation took longer than indicated. Hitch was a little bit difficult to get into position, even with muffler hanger removed muffler still had to be pulled to each side to allow placing and access to bolts, this made installation more difficult for one person. 14632
