Today, on our 2002 Ford F-150, were going to install part number 87618 from Hidden Hitch. All right, this is what the hitch will look like once its installed on the vehicle. Next, well give you some measurements thatll help you out in selecting some accessories such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground will be 18 1/2 inches and from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper will about 2 3/4 inches. Now, Ill go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. Okay, the first thing were going to do is well go ahead and point out the attachment points on the frame. Youll use six holes on each side of the frame, two close to the bumper and one going up towards the front of the vehicle. All right, now well go ahead and install the hardware.
Well show the block and a carriage bolt, those will go together. Underneath the hitch itll get the flat washer, locked washer and the nut. All right, lets go ahead and start installing the bolt and block into the frame. Next thing you might want to check is clearance between the spare tire and the frame. If you can get your hand in there then youll have room to get the hardware installed, if not you may have to loosen up the spare tire.
Once we have that hardware installed into the frame its a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help hold up the hitch and then well install the rest of the hardware. Align up the hitch with the poles; then install a flat washer, locked washer and nut. With all our hardware loosely installed we can go ahead and tighten down the bolts, then torque them down as specified in the instructions. Okay and with that our install is already complete. One thing you may want to double check is the wiring on the drivers side, if it has a tow package it might be in the way, but all you could do is just push it out of the way before you tighten down the hitch. With that, thatll finish it for our install of part number 87618 from Hidden Hitch on our 2002 Ford F-150..
