Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Chrysler Town and Country - Draw-Tite

Today on our 2007 Chrysler Town & Country, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite hitch, part number 75119. This is what our hitch will look like once it's installed. Next, we're going to give you a couple measurements to assist your selecting accessories for your new hitch, such as a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitchpin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 5 inches. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 12 and 1/4 inches. Now, we'll go ahead with installation. To begin our install, we'll first point out the attachment points. We'll have a total of 3 attachment points on each side.

Keep in mind, each process we do on one side will get repeated identically on the opposite side. To begin our install, we'll first remove the manufacturer's forward bumper bracket attachment hardware. Go ahead and remove the bolt and set it aside. Quick tech tip: after you remove the manufacturer's bolts, it's a good idea to put in some spray lubricant to make it easy for the hardware to go back into the weld nuts. Now, we're going to install the 12 millimeter stud provided with our install kit. This stud will be the center attachment point for our hitch.

Now, with the stud securing the bumper bracket on both sides, we'll go ahead and remove the rear bracket attachment bolt. Hang onto the bolt, as it will be used to secure the hitch. Now, to get our hardware into the frame, we'll need to enlarge the rear access hole. We're going to use a round file on a drill, just to shave out enough that we can get our hardware into position. Our forward attachment point will be the pre-drilled hole in the frame by the manufacturer. We'll be installing a 7/16 carriage bolt and block into the frame and securing it with a 7/16 conical tooth washer (the teeth of the washer will face the hitch) and a 7/16 nut. Now, we're ready to go ahead and put our hardware into place.

We'll take the 7/16 bolt leader provided with our install kit, feed it through the attachment point, and out the access hole. We'll then slide on the block and thread on the bolt. We'll slide the block and bolt into the frame and pull our hardware into position. We'll leave the bolt leader on, as it will assist on getting our hitch up into position without pushing our hardware back up into the frame. Now, we're ready to go ahead and put our hitch in place. It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while you install the fasteners.

As we put the hitch up into position, we'll feed the bolt leader through the attachment point. Now, as we bring the hitch up to the frame, we'll go ahead and install our rear hardware, which, we'll be reusing the manufacturer's bolt, and then our hardware for the center attachment point. Once we have this hardware installed finger-tight and holding the hitch in place, we can remove the bolt leader and then install our forward attachment point hardware. Now, with all the hardware in place, we're ready to go ahead and tighten it down. Next, we'll torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Now, with the hitch secured and torque specifications, we're ready to hit the road. That does it for the install of our Draw-Tite hitch, part number 75119, on our 2007 Chrysler Town & Country. .

1999 Plymouth Voyager

Excellent product. Only hard part was drilling (2) 7/16" holes in the frame of the van for 2 of the 6 mounting bolts, which I had to do because I have a 1999 Voyager rather than one of the later models which already has the holes drilled. 174804

Product come the day the website said it would be delivered. That really help me plan to get install over the weekend. The box was a nut mangled, the hitch had a few scratches from the shipping travel. What I like the best about etrailer was the videos showing how to do the installation, it made easier to follow the instructions! I'm planning in towing a pop up trailer and a boat. 242296

This hitch receiver was AWESOME!! Just used it to pull the big U-Haul trailer from Laramie WY, to Portland OR, and it stood up to the challenge incredibly well. I seriously can't say enough good things about this receiver! Very, very pleased!!! FYI - Turn over the 5-1/4" hitch so it bends upward for use on a minivan. We also used the 2" chrome ball. 241118

etrailer provides excellent service!!!!! For complicated reasons, I have recently ordered 2 trailer hitches. They shipped the same day I called - yes, I spoke to a live person, did not wait on hold. Each time they were able to answer questions and make recommendations. I highly recommend doing business with etrailer.com 255280

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch
Do you have a question about this Trailer Hitch?

  • What Trailer Hitch Will Fit On A 2007 Grand Caravan With Stow-N-GO Seating
  • You will need the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch, # 75305, which will work on the 2007 Dodge Caravan with Stow-N-GO seating. It is a Class III hitch and has a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs. with a tongue weight of 350 lbs. On the 2007 Dodge Caravan with Stow-N-GO seating the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch, # 75119, that you have referenced will not work. Also needed is a Draw-Tite Ball Mount, # 2923, a Pin and Clip, # PC3, and a hitch ball. The hitch ball you need will depends on the size...

Both offers the same capacities and are made by the same parent company. But since you have the rear stabilizer bar you will use Draw-Tite # 75119. I have linked for you the written instructions for 75119 as well as a video showing installation in a 2003 van. Two helpful hitch installation articles are included as well. • Compatibility and Safety of Trunk Mount Bike Racks for a 2003 Chrysler Voyager

We have numerous options for hitches, but I recommend going with a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver. This hitch will be stronger with a higher weight capacity than a Class I or II trailer hitch. I recommend Draw-Tite # 75119. I have included a link to the installation instructions below. • Recommended Two Bike Racks for 2005 Chrysler Town and Country
  • Lets start with the hitch. If you would only be using the hitch as an attachment point for a bike rack, and cannot foresee ever towing a trailer or needing a hitch mounted accessory like a cargo tray like part # 63153, a trunk or hatch mounted rack would be an excellent choice. Since a trunk mount rack is typically not left in place when not being used, you will want to choose the rack that is easiest to install and remove. According to the owners manual, your Town and Country would only have enough towing capacity to pull your camper if it came with a factory tow package If it did not come with a tow package, the maximum towing capacity is 1,800 lbs. Regardless of which hitch is used, the Grand Caravan is limited to a maximum of 2000 lb towing / 200 lb tongue weight.
