This fully welded, corrosion-resistant vehicle trailer hitch receiver is perfect for your light-duty towing needs. Draw-Tite's Tested Tough guarantee ensures that this hitch exceeds industry standards. Drawbar sold separately.
Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Today on our 2016 Chrysler Town and Country, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Draw-tite custom fit Class II trailer hitch receiver. This is going to offer an inch and a quarter, by inch and a quarter opening. It's part number is 36455. Here's what our hitch is going to look like installed on the vehicle. As you can see, all we're going to see is our receiver tube opening and our safety chain connection points. That main cross tube has been hidden in behind the bumper, which is really nice. You can get the use of the hitch without having a big thing all the way across the back of the vehicle.
Now, inch and a quarter, by inch and a quarter opening. That works great for Class I and Class II accessories. This is a lass 2 hitch. Class II you're going to be able to use for bike racks, cargo carriers, lots of options with the Class II. Whereas with the Class I, you'll be a little more limited. Now, we do have a half inch diameter pin hole.
That's going to be the hole that we're going to use to secure any of our items in place. Should work out great with Class II accessories. Plenty of room on each side here to get it secure. Safety chain connection points are going to be like a roll style steel stop. Plenty of room on each side to make whatever safety chain style connection you might want there. Now, this hitch offers a 300 pound tongue weight rating, so it's the maximum downward force we can put here at the receiver tube opening.
It offers a 3,500 pound gross trailer weight rating. So that's a total of our trailer and everything we've got loaded up on it. Now we will want to look into the owner's manual on the Town and Country, see what it's tow ratings are and we'll go off of whichever of these numbers are the lowest. Now, a few measurements that you'll find helpful in selecting your ball mount, bike rack, or hitch cargo carrier will be from the ground to the inside top edge of the receiver tube opening. We've got about 13 inches. Then from the center of our hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of our bumper, it's about 5 and a half. When we begin our installation, we're first going to lower down the exhaust.
That's going to give us a lot better access to get up to the bolts that we need to remove. To do this, we're going to take off 3 hangers. You have your tailpipe here, we're going to go just in front of that. There's going to be a rubber hanger here and a bolt that goes into the bottom of the vehicle. We'll just back that out, just like that. Then we'll move on up the exhaust. Our next one is going to be just behind the large muffler here in the middle of the vehicle. The final one will be just in front of that muffler on the passenger side. That will come down and rest right there on our rear axle. As you can see, that's going to allow us good access to the bolts that we need to remove. We've got one that's going to require an 18 millimeter socket here on the front, and then the one behind it is going to require a 15. Now, on our driver's side, we're going to have 3. These 2 are going to be the 18 and then the one on the back there is going to be a 15. Now, we want to hang onto our hardware. We're going to use this to put our hitch into place. Now, we'll get an extra set of hands to help us raise our hitch into position. We'll just take the bolts that we've removed. They're going to go right through our mounting locations, right up into the holes they came out of. Once we have 4 or 5 good turns on there, we'll just let it rest into position. Now, with this Class II application, we're not going to need the front bolt. That can go right back into it's original spot. All right, let's take a quick look just to be sure we have our hitch centered. Once we confirm that, we'll go ahead and snug up our hardware, and then torque it down to the specifications that we can find in our instructions. Now, there's a piece of wire loom that's included. That's for this rear air conditioner line. If the hitch is going to be close to, or if you've got any worry about it rubbing, you can place that over it. You just want to be sure that you put the hitch into position, we're not pinching that. That can cause damage to the AC system here in the rear. All right, let's get them torqued down. All right, now we can get our exhaust put back into place. With our exhaust back in place, that completes today's installation of the Draw-tite custom fit class-2 trail hitch receiver, part number 36455 on our 2016 Chrysler Town and Country.

Hitch fit perfectly for my 2014 Dodge Caravan. The installation video was helpful. It showed one bolt needing to be removed for lowering the exhaust, but in reality there are four. They run the length of the undercarriage along the muffler itself. The hardest to reach is the rear axle one. If you back up onto a set of car ramps all is accessible. The hitch has three holes at each end and there are three bolts in the frame. You only need to use the rearmost two bolts on either side. Installation time is about 20 minutes. As to the wiring harness, I agree with others, it would have been nicer to have had an additional 6" of green wire so the control box could sit higher in the driver's rear light housing area. Definitely install and connect green wire before attaching box. Placing the car ramps under both driver's side wheels and raising the left side of the van gave plenty of access to string and weave the power (black) wire to the battery. Not sure what a factory install tow package goes for but I am very sure I saved money going this route. Delivery was unusually fast and efficient. Pre-purchase inquiries were quick, thorough, and informative. I strongly recommend Etrailer.com 116143

I purchased trailer hitch, product #36455 for my 2008 Dodge Caravan, Stow- n- Go. The fit was perfect and the installation instructions were very clear. Installation is doable for someone with a little mechanical ability, but in my opinion it takes two people. I put my vehicle on a set of ramps which made access easier. The trick is to balance the 40 or so pound hitch in place while fitting the first bolt in place. The other issue is access to the bolts on the passenger side because of the muffler. It is doable but tricky. I was unable to get to the large bolt on the passenger side with my torque wrench, so I applied some threadlocker (available in hardware stores) to that bolt and tightened it as hard as I could with my ratchet wrench. 47140

Arrived quick. Install was on 2011 Grand Caravan. The video shows them removing just the rear tail pipe hanger but I had to remove both rear and next one and STILL needed help pulling down and out on the tailpipe. That was the only issue I had, took a bit longer to do but its on, looks great. 45647

Product arrived promptly and in good shape. Took a little over a hour to install. I did it alone with the back of the car up on ramps. I needed to remove a third exhaust hanger (further forward) to get the pipe to drop down enough to get access to the frame bolts. Installing alone is tough because you have to hold the hitch in one hand, (about 30 pounds) and manipulate the first bolt with the other, while lying on your back. I'm sure the guy in the video has a helper and has the car on a lift. I MacGyvered it by propping it on cinder blocks. Very happy with this hitch and would recommend it to anyone with a 2014 Dodge Van. 130955

I bought this for a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan (4.0 L engine) to use with a SportRack 2EZ bicycle rack. The installation was fairly easy and I was able to do it by myself. It might be helpful to know that you need 15mm and 18mm sockets to remove the hitch mounting bolts under the vehicle and a 13mm socket to remove the exhaust hanger bolt(s). I also found it necessary to remove the second exhaust hanger bolt in order to move the tailpipe out of the way of the hitch mounting bolts. Also be careful of the AC line that runs near the passenger side 18mm mounting bolt. 13264

It would have been nice if the ends of the cross beam had cover plates welded on to prevent dirt and moisture from getting in. But I really can't complain having bought the less expensive hitch. Be advised on a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan even with the last two exhust hangers removed and the exhust system moved out of the way a bit it is not a straight shot to the forward bolt/weld nut on the passenger side. Very ackward knuckle banging procedure requiring flex head socket wrench to remove/insert the bolt. 143175

Received my class II (1.25) Drawtite hitch for my 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan yesterday. I installed it this morning within 1 hour using ramps. I completed the job asking for assistance only once to get the first mounting bolt started. While I was awaiting delivery I watched etrailer's video several times. Watching the videos on their website was critical for me (I only wish I had that guy's lift)! I had absolutely no issues and the included instructions gave me the torque specs. 232645

I backed my 2014 Dodge Caravan up on two ramps, removed the exhaust hanger behind the rear axle and the one in front of the axle, removed the four hitch bolts from the frame, set one end of the hitch on a cardboard box and lifted the exhaust side of the hitch and put the bolts in. Then I lifted the drivers side of the hitch and put the bolts in. Then I torqued all the bolts and replaced the exhaust hangers. Total time just about an hour. Great hitch for the money. 206168

Nice product. Exactly what I expected. Directions and videos are great and easy to follow. I assume it would have only been a 30 min job. **Caution*** I have a 2012 Dodge Caravan and I snapped off the M10 (rear) head bolts due to rust. I had to drill and tap out a larger bolt. Be careful with those two bolts or just take it to a auto shop and have them deal with the headache by installing it.. 268394

Just installed a draw-Tite hitch on my 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan, heavier than I remember on my 03 Chrysler Town & Country. Easy to follow installation instructions although I had to loosen the two exhaust bolts nearest the rear of vehicle. The fit is up and close to the bumper making the hitch barely noticeable which I like. Very satisfied with product and etrailer.com 187067

Product arrived promptly and fit my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan - perfectly. It fits close to the vehicle and does not stick down too much, as to drag on driveways. 102314
I gave this product a review of excellent because of the easy of installation. I installed it myself in 45 mins. The bumper for a 2010 dodge caravan needs to bend just slightly to get the receiver in. I wish there was just a 1/2 inch spacer to lower the hitch a little. This us a great product with the fastest shipping I ever seen plus shipping was free. 20208

This product fit my 2013 Chrysler Town and Country perfectly. I was looking or a hitch that you could bareley tell was there, and this one fit the bill. Tucks completely under the back bumper with only the small receiver showing below. Wiring harness was also top quality. Price and shipping were great as well. 81338

Draw tite hitch 2008 Dodge caravan took less than 20 minutes to install. thank you for the video & the step y step instructions Also the electrical connections were effortless qnd of the upmost highest quality... Thank You for the great products at a great price..I will definitely use e trailer again.... 95331
Excellent product EASILY fit my 2009 Caravan. To maximize the space needed on passenger side, instructions should read to remove three bolts to lower the exhaust, not one bolt. Need two people to hold hitch in place while first two bolts installed. An EASY install, 30 mins. max. 2906

I ordered a class II trailer hitch for my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan and I received it faster than I expected. It was simple to install and took about 30 minutes to attached it to my car. Great job etrailer. I would use etrailer again and already have told several of my friends. 124535
Does not come below the fascia The hitch is an easy install, but on my 2008 caravan, the hitch is hidden behind the fascia. I would have to cut the bumper fascia to get the drawbar in. Not happy at all. 3338
Finally had time to get it installed on our 2012 dodge grand caravan. My husband did it all himself in about an hour I would say. He was very happy with the finsihed product...Thankd again 71436

I ordered the Draw-Tite Class 2 hitch fitted for a late-model Dodge Grand Caravan and the Curt wiring harness for the same application. Fit and finish on the hitch were very good. Installation took longer than advertised, but that's more Chrysler's fault than Draw-Tite's; I had to remove 3 exhaust system hangers rather than the 1 suggested in order to work the hitch into position. The Curt harness also took longer, mostly because I added strong plastic sheathing to the wire from the control unit to the battery and I was very finicky about routing this wire to avoid any possibility of damage under normal use--and I was using jackstands rather than a lift to work under the van, which limited my workspace. Bottom line, though, is that everything came together perfectly, the setup worked flawlessly when I rented a trailer today, and I saved some serious money over a professional installation. Oh, the green wire in the Curt harness was plenty long; they must have read the older reviews. The black (battery connection) wire was closer to being too short, but I made it work. Curt could throw a few more zipties into the package, too. 269150

Very easy install on the hitch. Rather than pull any additional bolts off the exhaust (like other posts state) I followed the instructions and used a 1" ratchet strap around the tail pipe to the bumper cover support, and pulled the muffler out of the way to make it easier to access the bolts with a 1/2" drive ratchet and extension. Once I had them out I released the strap, moved it out of the way, and put the hitch up in place with the bracket on the muffler side just resting on the muffler I started the bolts on the opposite side. I then reinstalled the ratchet strap and pulle the muffler out of the way. Only disappointment I have is that the edges had laser oxide on them from when they were cut so the paint peeled off the edge of the bracket. Defeats the durability of the powder paint if it is. A little better cleaning of the raw parts would fix this and then I wouldn't have had to touch them up. Overall good product and easy install. Just over 30 minutes. Like the way it looks too. Kind of hidden. :) 79151

I bought a trailer hitch from etrailer a few years back for my 2006 Pontiac Vibe. I was impressed enough that when I needed another hitch for a newer vehicle, I didn't hesitate, I went to etrailer again. The ease of installation for a custom fitted hitch is impressive. As for the wiring, I had always gone to the local automotive parts store and came out with a handful of individual parts. The sum of these individual parts would suffice for a wiring harness, but it was ad hoc at best. With this purchase I opted for the etrailer custom wiring harness. Even if you don't buy your trailer hitch from etrailer, get the custom fitted wiring harness. It is well worth the price. For those that feel "wiring challenged" they even have a video that shows how to install the harness. The local automotive parts store will miss me. Overall for the hitch and harness, good price, good materials, good construction, and good service. What more do you need? 6683

First off, I have ordered from etrailer.com for many years. They are simply the best! When I received the hitch, the tow bar was not in the box. Of course a phone call is all that was needed to get it on the way to me (it arrived in a few days). In the meantime I installed the hitch with no problems. The videos are very helpful and I recommend watching them. I disconnected the two exhaust hangers only and was able to get the factory installed bolts removed and reinstalled by pulling the exhaust to the side. As someone else stated in their review, it is easier to place the passenger side of the hitch on top of the exhaust first and lift the drivers side into place and start those two bolts. Then place the passenger side in position and then torque all four bolts. 161248

Excellent product; well made and the price was quite reasonable. I must say it took a lot longer than 30 minutes to install, even with my two sons helping. You need 15mm and 18mm sockets which I had. But you really need to use a 1/2-inch drive wrench, which I also had, to put enough torque to unloosen the factory-installed bolts. The problem is to get to the bolts on the passenger side you really need to have socket extension bars to get to the bolts above the exhaust. I did not have those in 1/2-inch size. So I had to struggle to use 3/8-inch drive sockets and extensions. I also needed to use a universal joint socket to get to one of the bolts. So overall a fine product, but I dinged it one point for the installation that took longer than advertised. 49969
Very easy install. 25 minutes. Hitch fit perfectly. 192931

My order arrived promptly and was complete as ordered. The installation video was helpful and the printed instructions complete. As noted by previous customers, the hook up wire to the passenger tail light assembly was just adequate. My only complaint is that the included ball mount had too much rise for my application. I thought that it would work based on the 12" hitch height that I recall seeing for my Town and Country, but I easily corrected the problem once I made the measurements after the instillation. The plug in electrics are great and the installation looks "factory". I've ordered from you before and will continue to do so as you have a great company. 78564
Looks great easy to install took only half hour. Had to use a floor jack as an extra hand, but when there is a will there is a way. The wiring harness was easy to install only time consuming part is running the main power wire. Its great to have video instuctions via youtube as well as paper. Plan on pulling 4x8 trailer with atv or a small pop up camper, very happy with product! 240817

Customer service called after my order. They indicated that my item was not in stock and there would be a delay. This was on a Sunday, Don't these people sleep? Well the delay was minimal as the hitch was delivered Thursday. Yes, only 4 days and free. Install was a simple. Took my wife only 40 minutes. Would have been faster if I had helped. You guys are great! This is my second hitch from Ya'll. I may buy another vehicle so I can get another hitch? 177283
etrailer is my goto place when it comes time to order a hitch. This is my 3rd hitch from them and its my first and only stop when it comes time to order. With prices like these and a full line up of product they never miss the mark, the fast delivery didn't hurt either. The installation videos offer real help when it comes time to decide if doing the job yourself is they way to go. Great job guys count me in as a customer for life. 241810
The hitch seems to be a good quality but has not been installed yet. The packing however was very poor. To put something this heavy in a cardboard box without any packing around it, then send it freight, is just asking for problems. The hitch was sticking out of the box about a foot when I got it. The paint was chipped and gone in one spot. It'll work ok for me but will start to rust sooner than it should. 160744
the trailer hitch that i bought from e-trailer for my town & country was just what i was hopping it would be like, i was very pleased when it came. I did watch the video how to install, which was very helpful I'm in my 70's and i had little trouble mounting it alone. used a floor jack to help hold it up while i put in bolts, a very satisfying experience, order-delivery-install !! 254075
Wow! what a website!. Never have I had such a personalized on line shopping experience. They had the cheapest price by $20 and that INCLUDED free shipping! I got personal email from George letting me know he shipped my item (on a Saturday about an hour after I ordered it) and I got a follow up email today after it arrived asking if I had any more questions. 177293

The products arrived on time and it very good condition. The instructions for the installs was excellent. All items fit perfect and I was able to istall them. I have the hitch and wiring installed and they are working excellent, plus the hitch is hidden. I am very satisfied and would recommend using etrailer for all your trailer and hitch needs. 35345

Easy to install, although the hitch receiver could actually protrude a little farther back. Must get on hands and knee's to install trailer ball. Packaging for shipping needs to be a bit more robust, hitch had bare spots on the metal from being beat up in transit. Great product other than that..fit like a glove 144558
Product arrived on time and as advertised. Fit was fine. The only negative comment I can make was the etrailer "rebranding". The hitch went right on, The wiring is a hassle but not because of the wiring kit. It's a hassle having to run a wire all the way up to the battery for the conversion module. 172188

I was pleased that the trailer hitch was delivered so rapidly. I installed it and had no problem at all. The video instructions for installations on your web site and the information received with the hitch was very helpful. The Draw-Tite hitch is a good product and fit perfectly 152182
Trailer hitch bolted up just fine. Installed it myself in just under an hour with hand tools, no air. Well, can't say I did it all by myself. My 5 year old daughter handed me the all the tools. : ) Thanks for the great product and the very fast shipping. 16244

Hitch was delivered within 48 hours, which was well ahead of their promise date. The installation video on their web-site was helpful and reassuring. If you have average tool skills you'll be able to get the hitch mounted. 18087

Receiver sits too high so that when hitch is installed it rubs on and pushes up bumper valence. Also receiver contacts rear muffler so that I had to restrain muffler to passenger side to avoid contact with the muffler. 56139

Great service, Great product. Ordered hitch on Friday it was delivered on Monday. Hitch arrived in perfect condition, It took me less than 30 min to install. Thanks etrailer 120837
Mounted the hitch in about 45 minutes with hand tools (1/2 inch drive) and metal ramps. The wiring took a little longer. The most difficult part was routing the wire from the rear box to the battery. 186741
