This fully welded, corrosion-resistant vehicle trailer hitch receiver is perfect for your light-duty towing needs. Draw-Tite's Tested Tough guarantee ensures that this hitch exceeds industry standards. Drawbar sold separately.
Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video of Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4"

Today on our 2016 Honda Odyssey we'll be taking a look at and installing the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver, which is a class two hitch with a 1-1/4" opening, part number 36417. Something that's particularly nice about this hitch is the ease of the install, because you simply have two weld nuts on either side for you to put the bolts up into, and the fact that it's an 1-1/4". If you already have those 1-1/4" accessories, then this hitch will work really well for you. Here we've also got the 1/2" hitch pinhole. Then down here, if you're doing light duty towing you've got the loops for your safety chains. Then we've also got a collar here around the receiver tube for a little extra reinforcement.
Then the black powder coat finish that's on this hitch it's going to help prevent any rust or corrosion to give it a nice long-lasting life. On this one it simply bolts into place. There's no drilling or welding required. This hitch also features a 300 pound tongue weight rating and a 3,500 pound gross trailer weight rating. You'll want to be sure to check to see what your vehicle is rated for and not to exceed that. The distance from the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost part of the rear bumper is 5".
From the top of the receiver tube opening opening to the ground is about 12-1/2". This will help you in selecting accessories such as bike racks and cargo carriers. First thing we'll do under the vehicle is we're going to remove these three push pin fasteners, which you can take a flat head screwdriver and pop the center body of them down. Then you can take it out. It's going to be the same on all three of these. Then we'll come up here, use a 10mm socket, take that bolt out.
Once you've got that little bolt out of there, you can take a short Phillips head screwdriver and remove the screw that's right there. Once you've got that out of there, you'll be able to take your panel and pull it down out of the way. Now we're going to have to remove the two exhaust hangers that are here behind our rear axle. We're going to take this and spray a little bit of penetrating oil on there. You can use a pry bar and it will slide off out there.
Then we'll move up to the other one. It's right here behind the crossmember. Same thing: spray a little bit on there. Then that will allow it to hang just enough for you to be able to get your hitch up in there. Now right up here we've got the weld nuts mounted into the frame rail that we're going to be putting our bolts into to mount our hitch up. Before we do that, we just want to take a tubing brush, run that up through there, and make sure that those threads are clean so that they don't get damaged. Then once I've done that, just going to put a little bit of lubricant up in those holes. Then we'll do the same thing on the other side. Here's what we're going to be using to bolt these into place. We've got our bolts along with our conical tooth washer. When we put them up into place, the little teeth that are on the one side are going to go upwards towards the hitch. Now we'll get a second set of hands and put it up into place, get the holes lined up. Then you can get your bolt with conical tooth washer started. Now we've got them all started by hand, we can tighten them. We'll do that on both sides. Then we can torque them down to what is specified in the instruction manual. Once you've done that, you're ready to reinstall your exhaust hangers. Now you can hit the road. That's going to complete our look at the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver, part number 36417, on our 2016 Honda Odyssey.

This Draw-Tite hitch seems to be of the highest quality. The install would have been simple, however, our Honda Odyssey is 8 years old and it has spent its whole life in Wisconsin exposed to 8 winters. The nuts in the frame rails were very rusty!! It took some major muscle with a heavy duty wire brush designed for the application and a half a can of WD40 to clean the threads enough to thread the supplied bolts. After getting the the bolts threaded I needed a breaker bar on my ratchet to torque the bolts down. To me it seemed as if the supplied bolts could have been half as long. The install with clean threads would be 30 minutes tops. With the task of cleaning the threads it was close to 120 minutes to complete the install. In the end I am happy with the product quality, fit, and the final appearance, and it feels good to have done the job myself! 132237

The fit of the hitch is perfect. But, unless you've just bought a new vehicle, there is no way the installation will take 20-30 minutes. Our Odyssey is 4 years old. The threaded inserts for the hitch bolts were rusty and filled with dirt. It took 20 minutes just to clean them out so the bolts would thread in. Then, each bolt took significant muscle to tighten completely. Now that it's on, it's on for good. It's a great hitch. etrailer shipped quickly (and for free). I am very happy with this purchase. 38062

I put this on an 07 Honda Odyssey and it was beautifully simple. I used the Curt wiring kit also that just plugs into the junction box behind a trim panel also and that was perfect. We just put some grease on the rubber muffler hangers to pop them loose and we were on our way. My friend helped me and we both were shocked when everything was done in less than an hour and we didn't have to go get anything else to make it work the first time. Thanks for selling 2 great products. 146697

Easy install on my 2011 Odyssey (Touring Edition). I did need to remove the driver side plastic filler box (3 plastic rivets, 1 hex bolt and 1 Phillips screw). Slipped hitch over exhaust on passenger side then supported driver side. Started bolts on passenger side then on drivers side, then tightened all down to spec. Done in 15 minutes. 19499

2006 Honda Odessy, hitch and lighting, videos were perfect, especially the attention to preparing the nuts on the frame, if you don't spend the time to get them clean be prepared for sore arms and new four letter combos while you try to start those bolts and hold the hitch up. Overall your 3 rated difficulty was right on the mark. 22544

Following the installation videos made it twice as simple. On my 2007 Honda Odyssey, I did'nt have to lower the tail pipe. Thanks Etrailer 44108

I got this product on time and it was very easy to install. On my 2006 honda Odyssey I did NOT have to lower the exhaust as the instructions said. 40121
The hitch receiver was fine and went on easy. It interferes with the bumper a bit, so I cut a notch in the bumper to accomodate it. In the installation video, it says that the underbody trim panel that needs to be removed should not be reinstalled. I do not know why it says that because I reinstalled that piece and it fit just fine with the hitch installed. The wiring was also an easy installation. I did not like the thought of having the wiring hanging into the trunk area, so I cut a hole in the side trim panel so I could feed the wiring into the storage compartment as shown in the picture. 39529

This is the 3rd hitch I purchased from etrailer.co over the last 10 years and it could not have been easier to order and shipped very fast. I have a mechanic buddy who helped me with all 3 installs. It is much easier to have the vehicle on a lift. I had no issues with the install and the instruction videos were perfect. The trailer wiring I did myself with no problems thanks to the detailed video. Over the years I always recommend etrailer.com to anyone that is looking for a hitch. This is the best company to buy a hitch from and you can't beat the prices. I will always recommend etrailer and I will be buying another hitch soon for my wifes new Hyundai Tucson. 46434

As advertised, the hitch arrived very quickly (within 2 days!). It's high quality material and was simple to install. The installation video e-trailer provides was spot-on. I am not particularly mechanically inclined and I got the hitch and wiring harness installed inside of 2 hours by myself on my 2016 Honda Odyssey. 250694

This is a repeat purchase for us. We sold our old van and purchased a new one. Found out we could have kept the same hitch! Oh well. Purchase process was easy and straightforward. Customer service was very helpful. Shipping was excellent and they kept us informed the whole time. 10972

The holes in the hitch didn't line up. Three bolts went together perfect, but one was slightly off. I needed a trip to the hardware store for another bolt. Another thing I was uncertain about was the position of the washers. I assumed the raised ribs faced the hitch. 107406

Easy installation... probably took 15 minutes. Only issue I had was that the hitch pinched up on my bumper cover which was replaced due to a rear end accident. Happy with the product! 7748
