Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Cadillac CTS - Draw-Tite

Today on this 2007 Cadillac CtS, we're going to install part number 24767 from Draw-Tite. This is what the hitch looks like when it's installed on our Cadillac. Next, we'll give you some measurements that help out selecting some accessories, such as a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From top of receiver opening down to the ground will be about 10" and from the center of the hitch pin hole to outside edge of bumper is going to be about 6-3/4". Now I'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. To start off our install, we need to get inside the trunk area. We need to remove the floor coverings to get down to the bare metal by our spare tire.

So take off the spare tire first and then we can go ahead and remove the threshold. Now there are four tie-down points on the threshold that we have to simply unscrew to remove the threshold. Next we'll go ahead and take the carpet and roll it forward, push it up out of the way so we have access to the bare metal. Now we need to get underneath the car and we're going to go ahead and lower the exhaust to give us some more working room. This is a dual exhaust model, so there's going to be three exhaust hangers on a tail back that we're going to lower. One behind the muffler and then two by the tailpipe.

We'll spray them down with some lubricant and then we'll primarily them off and lower them out of the way. We'll also use a strap to help hold our exhaust up while I do this and then we can lower it using the strap. Now with an extra set of hands, we'll go ahead and lift the hitch up in position and then we're going to hold it there and make some marks for holes that we need to drill. It's also good to use a floor jack or some device to help hold it up while we make our marks. What we're going to do, use some spray paint to mark our holes. Then we'll go ahead and lower it out of the way and then using an extra long 1/4" drill bit, we'll go ahead and drill our pilot holes.

Then we'll get inside the trunk and then drill out to our final hole size. Now our final hole size will be 1/2". With our holes drilled, we're almost ready to install the hitch. We'll go ahead and show you how the hardware works with the hitch first before we install it. We'll have our plate that goes on the inside of the trunk put a note. Now you notice the two holes are offset on the plate.

The longer end will always face towards the front of the vehicle. Then our carriage bolts will go through the center, then they'll go through a trunk put a note and then through the hitch and then underneath the hitch, we'll get a lock washer and a nut. This will be the same thing on the passenger side. our next step is to go ahead and apply some sealant to the holes. Then we'll install our hardware. Also it's a good idea to put some weight on tops of the plates and bolts to help hold it in there while we install the hitch. With an extra set of hands one more time, we'll go ahead ad push the hitch back up into position. Then we can install our hardware, the lock washer and nut. Once we have all our hardware installed, we'll go ahead and tighten it down and then torque the bolts down inaudible 00:03:32. Then we can go ahead and reinstall the exhaust. And then take out our weight out of inside the trunk and go ahead and reinstall the floor coverings. With that, that'll finish it for our install part number 24767 on our 2007 Cadillac CTS. .

The hitch is fine, however it was hanging halfway out of the box when it got here! Luckily all the small parts and other parts I ordered were taped to it VERY well, nothing lost. (there were no instructions with the wire harness but I'll figure it out) 10429

Hitch arrived in good shape and quick. Install was very easy especially after watching the video. I plan on using the hitch to mount a bike rack. Very good. 71454

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2010 Cadillac CTS
  • The location and visibility of a trailer hitch on your 2010 Cadillac CTS will be almost identical between Curt, # C11307, Hidden Hitch, # 60830, and Draw-Tite, # 24767. Each of these trailer hitches use the same mounting location and have practically the same dimensions. For an exact measurement, the end of the receiver from the Curt hitch will actually sit 1/8 of an inch closer to the rear edge of the bumper. As far as aesthetics are concerned, I agree that the Curt hitch has a more...

  • Comparing The Available Trailer Hitches For A 2008 Cadillac CTS
  • All of the hitches available for the 2008 Cadillac CTS have the same characteristics in terms of towing and tongue weight capacity. Each hitch has a 2000 pound towing capacity and 200 pound tongue weight capacity. Where they differ is the towing components included with the hitch. The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 24767, which is the lower priced hitch, does not include a drawbar, pin or clip. The Curt Hitch, part # 11307, which is the highest priced hitch for your vehicle includes...

  • Roof Cargo Bag, Trailer Hitch, and Cargo Carrier for a 2005 Cadillac CTS
  • Rightline Sport 3 XL cargo bag # RL100S30 is a great option for your 2005 Cadillac CTS. The width on this bag is 40 inches which is less than the width of the roof of your CTS (the overall width of the vehicle is about 70 inches, the roof will be less). Since you have a naked roof I recommend a couple of accessories to go with this bag. First, car clips # RL100600 will allow you to mount the bag to the roof without having to run straps through the interior of the vehicle; definitely...

  • Trailer Wiring Connection Points for a 2010 Cadillac CTS Wagon
  • The correct wiring for a 2010 Cadillac CTS is the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 119179KIT. The connection points for this harness are located behind each of the tail light assemblies. In a sedan, you would pull back the trunk lining to gain access to the back of the tail lights. But on a wagon, either the tail light assemblies will need to be removed or there may be an access panel in the cargo area that needs to be taken off in order to reach the connection points. I have included...

  • How Far Does the Draw-Tite Hitch Reciever # 24767 Extend Below the Bumper of a 2008 Cadillac CTS
  • The bottom of the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch, item # 24767, will sit about 2-3/4 to 3 inches below the rear bumper on your vehicle. This dimension is a best guess for your vehicle because there is not a set dimension for the amount of extension below the bumper on your 2008 Cadillac CTS. Too many variables account for the final placement of the hitch receiver, such as the hitch itself, the vehicle frame and the vehicles rear bumper and fascia orientation on the vehicle. I based...

  • Recommendations for Carrying Bikes With 2012 Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon
  • Your best bet for carrying bikes with your 2012 Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon would be to use a trunk mounted bike rack, like the Yakima KingJoe part # Y02619. Due to the fact that the upper hooks are secured by the included glass hatch hooks, you'd be limited to carrying 2 bikes on a trunk mounted bike rack. If you'll be transporting women's bikes or bikes with sharply-angled top tubes, you might also consider a frame adapter bar like part # UB01. The bar spans the distance between the...

  • Installation of Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch on a 2003 Cadillac CTS to Tow Small Jet Ski Trailer
  • The Draw Tite trailer hitch part # 24767 that is a confirmed fit for your 2003 Cadillac CTS and has the towing capacities of 2,000 lbs total trailer and 200 lbs tongue weight. Most Jet Ski trailers weigh less than that so as long as the vehicle has the needed capacity as well you this will work. You will want to check the placard on the inside of your driver's door for your vehicles towing capacities. I also found a section of your owner's manual about towing a trailer you should check...

  • Is there Drilling Required to Install Draw-Tite Hitch 24764 on a Cadillac CTS or STS
  • Yes, you will need to drill 4 holes in the trunk pan. YOu will use a 1/8 inch drill bit to start the holes then enlarge them using a 1/2 inch bit. I would use some sort of silicone sealant to seal the holes as well. I have added a link to the instructions below for you to review.
