Today on this 2005 Dodge Dakota were going to install part number 13229 from Curt. This is what the hitch looks like once installed on the truck. Next well go ahead and give you some measurements that will help you out in selecting some accessories such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the top of receiver opening down to the ground is going to be 18 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper is going to be 2-1/2 inches. Now well go ahead and remove the existing hole plug if its present on the center of the bumper.
If its not there we can go straight to installing the hitch. Well take the hitch. Well put it underneath the bumper in place and then well go ahead and install this cap screw to hold it in place. All right, now go ahead and install the hardware for the backside of the hitch. Well install the bolt, the flat washer and then the lock nut on the other side.
With all our hardware installed, we can go ahead and tighten it down and then torque the bolts down as specified in the instructions. With that that will finish it for part number 13229 from Curt on our 2005 Dodge Dakota.

My new hitch was delivered very fast and was very easy to install. The hardest part was finding a hex wrench for the bumper bolt. you might want to consider including that with the hitch to save the hassle of finding one, I would have been more than willing to pay extra for it.69276

I bought this hitch, and found it easy to install. Interestingly, I had folks telling me I couldn't put a hitch on my Dodge Dakota unless it was "welded" on. Wrong. This goes on pretty easily. I will warn others -- finding a wrench to install the main bolt was a bit of a challenge. But once I figured that out, it was easy sledding.45402
