Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2011 Dodge Charger

Alright today on this 2011 Dodge Charger, were going to install part number 13093 from Curt. Alright this is what the hitch looks like when its installed on the car and next well give you some measurements to help you out in selecting some accessories.Have the receiver opening down to the ground and this car is going to be 9 inches and from the center of our hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the bumper is going to be 8 inches. First were going to show you how its installed. First thing we need to do is actually lower part of the exhaust and remove part of the exhaust to make it easier to install the hitch. So were going to put down this clamp right here, put some lubricant, were going to pry the clamp open just a little but, just so theres enough to make it loose. Ok, then well leave everything alone for now.

Ok we go ahead and lower the exhaust on the drivers side. Now theres 2 hangers and theyre actually bolted up to the bottom of the frame, so well just remove them that way. At this point we can go ahead and remove this section of the exhaust. Now were done for the drivers side, lets go to the passenger side and remove the hangers as well. Now we have moved a little further to the back of the exhaust, lets pry down these two hangers here and here with some lubricant, then we can make the exhaust lower even more. Right, now we got our exhaust loose as you can see here, now what were going to do is actually use a strap to pull over to the side to make it easier to see the bottom of the frame.

Were looking at the drivers side frame rail, well go ahead and show you where the attachment points are for the hitch. Were going to use these 2 threaded holes here and here and this hole as well. So this is your access hole for hardware that well install for this hole. Now before we get started, you probably want to take a moment to check and make sure that the bolt will thread into the weld nut in the frame. The older the vehicle is, its going to be dirtier, so you may want to use some lubricant and a tube brush to clean it out.

The tube brush is part number 814092. Going to install the hardware here, well take our bolt leader that comes with the kit, were going to use an out or access hole. Get our block, our spacer and put it into place and then thread on the bolt, theres the end of out leader, push it in the frame, pull it back out. And you can leave the bolt leader on or off, it doesnt matter at this point. You can leave it to help you losing the bolt in the frame.

Now were looking at the passenger side frame, just a little bit different, we have 2 open holes to install hardware and just one weld nut. Alright at this point we can go ahead and start installing the hitch. We take the passenger side of the hitch and put it on top of the exhaust muffler to hold that side up and then we go ahead and lift up the drivers side. Then well start flanging it. Move over to the passenger side and repeat the same process. With the hitch still lose, well go ahead and install the bolts into the weld nuts. Were done with the drivers side, well go ahead and do the same thing on the passenger side. Once we have all our hardware installed, well go ahead and snug everything down. And then torque it down as specified in instructions. Drivers side done, now lets go ahead and do it on the passenger side. Now our hitch is installed, now lets go ahead and reinstall the exhaust fitting and repeat the same step in reverse. Ok and with that were finished part number 10393 from Curt.

  • Trailer Hitch Tow Capacity Different than Vehicle Tow Capacity, 2011 Dodge Challenger with 3.6 Liter
  • Even though the vehicle may be capable of towing more, Chrysler/Dodge determines what the Challenger is capable of towing. There can be many deciding factors that lead to a company deciding what the tow capacity should be including, but not limited to, the frame, suspension, engine, and transmission. So you need to stay within the manufacturers recommendation. Otherwise it will void the warranty. The CURT Trailer Hitch, # C13093, is capable of 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds

  • What is the Difference Between Curt Hitches # 13093 and # 13465
  • Only the Curt Hitch # 13465 that you referenced would work for your 2010 Dodge Challenger. The other Curt Hitch, part # C13093 that you referenced is designed for 2011 and up Challengers. That is the difference between the two hitches. I attached an installation video for the # C13093 for you to check out also.

  • Will a Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Affect Park Assist Sensors on a 2012 Chrysler 300s
  • It is likely that anything mounted in Curt trailer hitch # C13093 would set off the park assist sensors on your 2012 Chrysler 300S. However, if your vehicle is anything like mine (I have a backup camera and alert system) it would only be an issue when you are backing up. It is possible that a bike rack alone would not trip the sensors. But with bikes loaded it is almost certain that they will. You may be able to adjust the angle of the sensors to make them less likely to sense the bikes w
